Dallas Cowboys rookie WR Dez Bryant has finally made amends for his training camp faux pas of not carrying his teammates' shoulder pads.

Bryant treated his teammates to a dinner at a Dallas-area steakhouse on Monday. The bill came to $54,896.

"They got the young fella," Bryant's adviser, David Wells, told ESPN. "What could he say? He had to pay it unless he wanted to wash dishes for a month."

ESPN reported that Bryant invited his offensive teammates out for the meal. Fellow WR Roy Williams, whose shoulder pads the rookie spurned carrying in training camp, invited the defensive players.

Check out the menu at the Pappas Bros. steakhouse where they dined.

ESPN.com posted this receipt of a so-called receipt from Dez Bryant's $54,000-plus dinner with teammates.

Pretty good spoof. And exactly how much do you suppose fresh unicorn goes for a pound?

Also, it's not too late to vote on whether the Dallas receiver's dinner event was good fun or ridiculously out of hand.

Awesome, awesome, and more awesome. I'm actually glad he refused to carry the pads so we could end up getting this story. Funny. Reminds me of one of those dinners on the Soprano's with 12 bosses that Christopher always ended up picking up.

I would have liked to seen the head chef's face when he heard the entire Cowboy team was there to eat....and they were getting one of the rookies to pay for it. "I hope we have enough food."

1) dang... @ even just 15% gratuity... somebody made out REAL NICE that night.

2) Someone would be so happy with that being their yearly salary. They could have kept this info to themselves, but of course their ego's let this story get out to the public. rghhh..

It's kind of a disgusting excess of consumptive behavior.

Check that; no "kind of" about it.

I think it's pretty funny that Roy ended up inviting the defense, too, but- while I do comprehend the concept of hazing- this kind of pompous, frivolous practice just rubs me the wrong way. Team chemistry is grand; don't get me wrong. It's just that these types of stories represent how hollow and empty sports can be when the flaunting of wealth and petty posturing are the spotlighted, often celebrated standards of conduct.

Good for the involved waiting staff, kitchen, host of other average joes, and the effected business and culinary visionaries, though. If it wasn't widely acknowledged or etched in stone beforehand, it is now: they've certainly reached a peak of earned success in their craft.

What?... Even if the entire 53 man roster was there that's over a grand per head. At a local "SteakHouse"? Must be some damn good food or very expensive drink.

Depending on what the place is like... it's possibly they bought an extremely large amount of alcohol. Especially Wine.

Well, that's assuming he left a tip. I hope he did.

If he paid for the whole team to eat, I guarantee the gratuity was already included in the bill.

Good point - most include the gratuity on parties over a certain size.

yep, according to local radio here at least, Roy was 'encouraging' players to take home a bottle of wine to "remember the event"

bet Dez appreciated that one.

At these prices, it would only take a few bottles... scroll down a few pages. The 1961 Chateau Petrus is $10k / bottle. Reminds me why I don't drink.

You don't drink because a specific bottle at a restaurant is $10,000? There are lot of good bottles of wine that aren't nearly that expensive. I normally drink $5-10 bottles of wine from the grocery store. And those can last 3-4 days.

Red wine is good for you.

How 'bout the one a couple below that which has a $30k price tag. Vintage is 1811!?!?!?!?

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I know you aren't in Ohio, but there is a local winery here in the Akron area, in Norton I believe, called Wolf Creek who makes good wine. My girlfriend and I like a glass of their White Lies now and again, goes pretty good with anything (especially steak I think) and runs about $13.

Even if I had the money, I'd never pay $10,000+ for a bottle of wine
