Do you guys understand that this might be the greatest weekend of the season?

Saturday night gives us Florida v Alabama at 8. It also gives us Stanford v Oregon at 8. - That's 4 top ten teams

At 3:30, we get the red river shootout at 3:30, and we get Wisconsin v Michigan State. - Four more ranked teams

Ohio State playis the Illini at 1:00 - they always play us tough so it's worth watching.

Looking forward to Texas/Oklahoma the most. If Texas wasn't coming off a bad loss to UCLA, I'd take Oklahoma and not think twice about it. But, this is the game they were overlooking UCLA for, so who knows.

Happy B-day Top!

Well, this should be a very interesting weekend of college football. I like Alabama BIG over Florida, Texas winning, Oregon and Wisconsin. Ohio State will actually keep the game close until the middle of the 3rd and blow it wide open. And Toledo winning of course too.

SpergFTW, have fun down there. I've been to a few games and it's a fine stadium. The food is awful, so eat before you get in. Go to Alexander's for dinner (a cook your own steak place with a killer salad bar).

alexanders, i will remember that.

i think we're bringing our own food, however we dont have a grill, so i hope we run into people who have a bunch of stuff.

last week at notre dame we were begging people to take our food because we had so much (we also had a big group of almost 20 people)

im really excited though.

does anyone know if the band will be there tomorrow? i don't know what the policy is for traveling. we saw them at northwestern 4 years ago, but the band was not in attendance. is their travel based on seating or what?

Are you saying someone will leap frog OSU or that OSU is going to be upset?

I'm not "saying" anything,...weekends like this make college football great, and unexpected things happen.

It wouldn't take a Buckeye loss to get leapfrogged. A poor showing could do that. Doubtful, though.

we don't have a ton of room at my apartment, and no storage room either (i know, lame)

we can't grill on our balcony, and when the landlord said grill on the side of the building, some kids busted the handle the day after i moved it down. so i go grill-less. i miss it everyday. nothing like sittin outside havin a few drinks, radio on with football talk or music, grilling steaks or burgers or whatever. i miss it a ton.

girlfriend is coming up with a plan though. i really hate that this game is at 11. only good thing is i can get home and take a nap before my game tomorrow night.

Head to K-Mart or something and see if you can find one of the disposable grills that already have charcoal in them. They're one-time use type things, but at least you still get to grill

Available at Walgreen's (and thus probably WalMart), WinnDixie, etc...

There's another product called Grill-N-Go, but I cannot locate a brick and mortar store that carries them; apparently they are an online order only.

The band only has the travel money for two regular season road games a year, so you could understand why they'd wait for a slightly more high-profile game (no offense, Illinois).

Coming off a big win last weekend at Purdue and going on the road next week to Boise, I hope the Rockets have put in the work this week to go up against Wyoming. It's been a few years since the program had a heartbeat, I just hope the guys don't get to full of themselves and slip up in a game that they should win.

4-1 through 5 weeks is something I didn't see happening but now is a real possibility. Would be a tremendous start to the season...

Yeah I'll be home in time for the night games, I just hate missing half of the football day.

Bigdatut - Where did you hear that from? Just wondering, I don't want to get all excited if the band isn't going to be there.

Buckeyes are totally getting bailed out by the Refs on this 4th Qtr drive.... they gave us a phantom Facemask call AND a Pittsburgh-esque first down call on 4th & 1.

+1

Refs are helping the Buckeyes HUGE! Illinois deserves to win this game right now. Tressel is playing like its 1:30 left to play.

A bunch of bogus defensive penalties won this for Ohio State. Cheap, fake, & just plain wrong. And Tress showing why Ohio State won't win the BCS title this year. You can't win one running the same running play, not passing, and waiting for the refs to bail you out.

Boooooooooooo!

you guys think it had anything to do with pryor getting hurt? because before that they weren't just going off tackle or up the middle with boom....when he came back from the locker room the whole game plan changed....i thnk it had a lot to do with pryor and bauserman throwing picks....hell i rather they won like they did or see them throw a pick six with time winding down and losing the game.

IN TRESSEL I TRUST!

Landry Jones is a poor man's Sam Bradford.

On some throws he makes you think, "How'd he get that ball in there?"

And on other throws he completely misses guys.

On the other team, Garrett Gilbert doesn't look very good at all.

Ohio State survives IIllini scare, 24-13
By DAVID MERCER, Associated Press Writer

1 hour, 7 minutes ago

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP)—When Terrelle Pryor sprinted out of the locker room late in the third quarter, the sound that came from several thousand red-shirted Buckeye fans was pure relief.

Pryor was back and the game, surely, was in hand.

Good thing they didn’t realize how bad Pryor’s left quadriceps felt.

The Heisman Trophy candidate returned from a leg injury that briefly knocked him from the game, then led No. 2 Ohio State on two drives that sealed a come-from-behind, 24-13 win over Illinois on Saturday.

“The worst thing was when I came back and the guys thought I was all right and they were saying, ‘Come on Terrelle, lead us,”’ Pryor said. “There was no way I could do anything but hand the ball off and maybe get a couple passes.”

Pryor was helped by the pounding of tailback Dan Herron and a Buckeye defense that held Illinois to 251 total yards and, after the first quarter, a pair of field goals.

The star Ohio State quarterback said that after the game that he isn’t sure how bad the injury is, but he expects to play next week against Indiana. Coach Jim Tressel said he also didn’t know yet how serious his junior quarterback was hurt.

“I was in full stride and all of a sudden I felt and heard something pop and I was like ‘What’s going on?”’ Pryor said. “It was probably the worst pain I had in a while.”

After being helped from form the field and limping to the locker room, his replacement, Joe Bauserman, threw an interception to Illinois safety Trulon Henry.

The Illini went three-and-out, though, and Pryor came back a few minutes later, running to the sideline to Buckeye fans’ loud cheers—and scattered boos from Illini fans. The momentum didn’t change right away, but it only took the Buckeyes a couple of possessions to get moving.

On a 14-play, 59-yard drive that chewed up almost eight minutes of the third and fourth quarters, Pryor and the Buckeyes’ backfield finally pounded the Illini out of the game.

Herron, called “Boom” by his coach and teammates, carried the ball on eight of those plays for 18 hard yards, draining the clock and wearing the Illini out.

“Boom is always ready to be that physical back you want him to be,” Tressel said. “He took that fourth quarter, and really parts of the third when we were against the wind … and Boom did a good job of running physically.”

Illinois (2-2, 0-1) marched inside the Ohio State 20 with 4:16 to play, trailing 17-10, but coach Ron Zook decided to kick a field on fourth-and-7 with 4:36 to play. Zook was hoping that a defense that had held Ohio State most of the game could do so one more time.

“I just felt like we should take the points we will for sure have and then count on the defense to get the ball back,” Zook said.

The Illini never got another chance.

Ohio State (5-0, 1-0) marched down field and Herron put the game out of reach with a 6-yard touchdown run with under 2 minutes to play.

Illinois traditionally plays the Buckeyes tough—winning 11 of the last 25 meetings before Saturday, including an upset that ended Ohio State’s bid for a perfect season and national title in 2007—and made clear early that the they were in for a struggle.

Taking over at their own 45 after a short punt into a steady wind, the Illini drove 55 yards—23 of it on a tricky pass play from quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase to Jarred Fayson and back to Scheelhaase. The redshirt freshman then ran 3 yards for a touchdown to make it 7-0.

Pryor struck right back, running 66 yards before hitting Brandon Saine on an 8-yard TD pass that tied the game with 6:17 left in the first quarter.

Illinois had a chance to move back on top, but Derek Dimke’s 41-yard field goal try came up short in the steady wind. It looked like it was headed through the uprights but slowed, then stopped and fell to the turf a couple of yards short.

Ohio State’s defense held Illinois to 251 total yards, and Mikel Leshoure to 80 yards on 19 carries after entering the game with four straight 100-yard rushing games. Scheelhaase was 12 of 22 for 109 yards passing. Eight of his completions were to Fayson, who had 83 receiving yards.

“It’s all really about discipline. I think early on we kind of didn’t have that,” Ohio State defensive lineman Dexter Larimore said. “We kind of thought (we knew) what they were going to come out in and what they were going to play, but once we made the adjustments, we started playing better, smarter and a little bit faster.”

My heart sank today as I saw Pryor motioning for the trainers to help him. Pryor saying he felt something pop makes matters even worse.

Hopefully this isn't anything serious. Seeing Bauserman line up under center for a few games would be horrific. I'd rather see Guiton, their true freshman since he does have some scrambling ability. Bauserman reminded me of Todd Boeckman today, and not in a good way.
