Anybody else like to see this guy moved before the trade deadline?

I mean if we aren't gonna use the guy (and his contract is expiring at the end of the year) why not try and get somebody in here we can use?

Any chance he might be moved? I'm sure it's been discussed a little bit here and there but obviously he is in Manginis dog house with his comments he made and not even getting a sniff at the ball last week.

It's gotta be frustrating for him.. To go from sending your jersey to the HOF (where it will be remembered forever) to sitting on the bench getting snaps at the end of the game when it your kneeling the ball.. Wow.

I would like to see it...furthermore. Green Bay is a team in need of a feature running back...also they have a legit 3-4 defense now...maybe we could procure a defensive lineman or LB or value or...a decent draft pick (3rd or 4th round?)...

That being said...anything for the kid would be great. A decently late pick and a backup...maybe DB? would be sweet

With Portis being out 4-6 weeks, I could see Washington having an interest - and with Snyder, they may even over pay. Or maybe Harrison for Devin Thomas

That being said, I really like the guy and am torn on whether I think that'd be a good idea or not.

I can imagine. And I can't say I blame him for speaking up but it was a bad move for him IMO. Mangini is a guy that just doesn't tolerate that type of me attitude, not that Harrison said anything that was all that bad but still.

I just look at a teams like Green Bay, Tampa, and possibly Washington in need of a running back (who I think Harrison would fit in with well, aside from maybe Tampa) and wonder if we might try and pull off a trade.

I can't find anything specifically but he must have said something somewhere because the press asked Mangini about Harrison expressing frustration about his offensive role and Mangini said with irritation

"His role is to go in and to carry the ball when he's asked to carry the ball and do it effectively, and protect the football," emphasized Mangini.

Not a chance with Washington, as they are very high on Ryan Torain. We could maybe get a 6th or 7th for Harrison at this point, as we lack any leverage. Hell, the Pats dealt Moss for a 3rd I believe. One poster hoped for a 3rd or 4th for JH, not a prayer, would be an awesome deal though for the Browns. Very unlikely Harrison is moved. He is more valuable as an insurance policy for us this year than a 6th or 7th round pick which, IMO, is his market value at this time.

i don't have a problem with a guy wanting the ball, but going public about it, bad idea.

but why isn't he getting carries in the first place? i know hillis is having success, but you're telling me based on what we saw last year, we can't get this guy some touches? we're heavy on the run as it is, i find it hard to believe they can't find spots for him.

of course they are gonna tell you they are high on Torain because that's all they have, but I seen Torain in Denver when Shanahan was the coach and he wasn't all that imo.

But I guess on the other hand Shanahan bringing him over has gotta mean something, at-least in Shanahans eyes.

I'm indifferent BUT if we ship him out and Hillis goes down... then what? Davis all alone?

I don't know why we can't find a way to get him touches.

With him and Hillis, we have two guys who have proven they can make plays at this level. I'm not sure why we can't figure out how to use them both.

Just because Hillis is playing so well doesn't mean you go away from your other playmakers entirely.

I think the lack of using Harrison is a shortcoming with this staff. I understand their frustration with the health issue, but when he's healthy, find a way to get him some touches in the game. He is always a threat to break one.

Two headed monster - why can't we employ it?

a few years ago when Portis and another back got hurt they traded something like a 2nd and 3rd for T.J.Duckett for one year. Real desperation.....

They are in 1st place in the division and have a shot at the playoffs at this point. If Torain got hurt the same desperation might reappear but Vinny was the GM then. I don't see them overpaying like they did for Duckett, but that was a big time overpay.

I wouldn't mind if we could find a trade partner.

It's pretty obvious we have found our back in Hillis.

This...yeah, but let's trade him for the next Maiava

Our coaches prefer to throw that braindead sideline pass that neither Wallace nor Delhomme could throw adequately instead of giving those touches to Harrison....not only are they dumb but they aren't even loyal...Harrison saved Mangini's a$$ last year along with Cribbs....I still think it's something personal but guy was backboneless enough to play him to save his a$$...now that he's safer again, he doesn't give him even 1 carry with Davis inactive and 2 score lead?....what a douche, really and way to motivate a guy who could end up saving your a$$ again Eric

We are talking about a 4.3yds/carry career RB....what's wrong with that? I think with some of the holes the OL is opening up that Harrison could hit some HRs, which Hillis will never be able to hit.....just use both but I guess that makes too much sense for the Outsmarters

Someone made a good point earlier about keeping Harrison as a backup because of the way Hillis runs and the toll it will take on his body over the course of the season. I'd like to use them both, or at least see if Davis can be the 2 in the 1-2 punch before we ship Harrison out. Would be just our luck that Hillis looks great until week 12 and then wears down, but we traded away his backup.

I think you all are getting way ahead of yourselves. At some point this season we are going to need Harrison. Hillis is a nice back and everything but he is going to need to be rested the amount of reps he is getting are going to begin to take their toll, and as the season goes on and other teams begin to wear down from tackling guys like Hillis the Harrisons of the world will be worth their weight in gold. Fresh legs in late Nov. and Dec are tuff to come by.

I like Davis but Harrison is a way better option IMO.

I don’t think will trade Harrison, I have been wrong before but in this instance Harrison is of more use to us on our team. Oh and hey we won’t get much for him in trade anyway, not anything better then a 4th rounder and I think Harrison is of greater value to us then a forth would be.

I wish I could find it, but I know I remember seeing Steve Doerschuk's blog say how, after Harrison struggled against KC this year, he ducked out of the locker room without speaking to the press. This was in stark contrast to Eric Wright's full disclosure of his suckitude after the Ravens' game.

I'm not saying it's definitive, but maybe this is indicative of Harrison's attitude.

Until I hear something more, though, I'm not going to judge the guy.

I don't have a big problem with a guy occasionally ducking reporters. Sometimes it's better to do that than say something you'll have to spend the rest of the week explaining.

As far as his attitude goes, I'm sure he's confused and pissed about the way things are going. After all, he ended last season going gangbusters and now he's only slightly above the water boy on the depth chart at RB.

I don't blame him there, either.

Dirty laundry is Browns biz, oeriod. Tally up how this worked for the folks tried to leverage the coach or FO through the media. KW, Brayin', Lewis, etc. Public black eyes are like a ticket outta town. If he is backup, and if a sweet deal can happen, I would have to look at it. Not sure Hillis can go the distance without an injury, but a solid addition might help from Green Bay or Washington.

He needs to get on the field to spell Hillis, and add some speed to the edge. It's silly that he's not getting 10-15 carries, especially late in the game when defenses are tired.

The Browns have never known how to use a small back since their return..and still don't.
Now with Harrison I know there were fumble issues in preseason and the little injury bug but it still appears they won't commit to him for whatever reason..and they don't seem to trust Davis either ,even though they ran him enough in preseason to see what he can do..
I do not expect him back next year but they need to use all of their weapons .

As much as I'd hate to see them move him, if they aren't going to use him or as Attack says, haven't found a way to use him, then dang,, trade him and get what you can for him...

Only problem with that thinking is, if hillis (god forbid) should go down, all we have is Davis... That could be scary.

We'll see Harrison get some more carries before long, JMHO. Right now, the Hillis train is running strong. But, there's just no way it can continue like that.

Eventually Hillis will start to struggle to get big yards, and Harrison will come in and tear off a few big ones. Then Hillis will disappear for a few games, till Harrison struggles to get big yards and Hillis will come back.

It's pretty silly, IMO.

I think this offense needs to figure out a way to utilize both of them. Pound Hillis early and often, then get Harrison in there with fresh legs when the D is getting tired.

I'd be perfectly happy if both of them ended with about 75-80 yards each in a game if it helps our offense.

But, then again, so long as Hillis is working, why change it?

Just be ready to make the change BEFORE it's absolutely needed.

We shall see...

If he were to be traded this year ,that would be foolish.
Mangini just needs to use the kid and team him up with Hillis and Vickers..if you're commited to the running game, then use your weapons.

You want to trade our #2 RB?

And at one point was our #1 back. As someone said, what if Hillis goes down? Send in Davis who has done nothing?

How quickly we forget what Harrison did last season for us.

I don't disagree with you one bit... that's exactly as I see it.. I'm not suggesting they trade him.. I don't want them to do so.

But if they aren't going to use him,, then his only value is in a trade.

Maybe Mangini is taking a conservative approach to Harrison's return, knowing we will need him later in the year for sure. Thigh injuries can linger and be problematic, so as long as we aren't in dire need of his services he may be letting that injury get an extra week or 2 of healing before putting him out there.

What I see happening is if he continues to be in this doghouse all year, they'll trade him, unless the coach is gone and a new HC likes him..
I just don't see a good ending to this impasse.

Nobody has forgotten. It's just that he isn't being used THIS season.

If somebody has such a problem with him that he isn't being utilized, then trade him and get at least a draft pick.

Personally, I think they should get him back out there. Is being benched and frustrated supposed to cure fumble-itis?

exactly...the kid is good enough to have his jersey in the HOF, but he isn't good enough to play for Mangini?

Harrison is big part of the reason Mangini even has a job this year...

Make no mistake the Comments Terrell Owens made about Mangini is "spot on"

Players in this league DO NOT like him..no high profile FA will come here as long as he is HC

In fact Laverneus Coles "refused" to talk to us or return Phone Calls of interest last year when we called about signing him (he later went to Cincy) Yes Coles Snubbed us because of Mangini

Most players in this league do not like him....Fujita only came here because no one else made him an offer, and Saints were not knocking down his door to keep him.

no high profile FA will come here as long as Mangini is coach....the fact the Coles snubbed us because of him just pounds this point even further, and now that TO comes out and states no one likes him, is huge.

Think "whatever you want" About Owens, I don't like the guy either, but he is friends with most of the players in this league...he knows far more what others players think then you, me, or anyone else on this forum or outside the ball clubs.

I am sure players have these conversations all the time away from their coaches..its not new news that most players in this league do not like Mangini and don't want to play for him.

There is a reason the players in NY said what they said when he was canned...

you can sugarcoat it however you want, but Owens remarks are huge...he just opened his mouth and said what other players are smart enough to keep their trap shut about...why? because Owens just doesn't care...I don't even like Owens, but he just reaffirmed many accusations that players in the league just don't like the guy....Bellichik doesn't act like Napoleon...Mangini does...

the fact Mangini won't play Harrison is just a reflection of Mangini ego...thats all it is...

Mangini trys to hard to be like Bellichik instead of just trying to be himself....there is only 1 Bellichik...Mangini has no personality at all, and has the worst interpersonal skills of just about any coach...he doesn't inspire his players, and he doesn't inspire his men...the guy has poor leadership qualities...

For exmaple... a "leader" shoulders all the blame himself...If Mangini was a real leader, he would tell the press after a loss "I take 100% blame for this loss, its my fault, I call the plays, I send in the subsitutions, its my fault we lost, i'll do my best to fix it"

instead he makes up excuses about fumbles, INTS, and shifts the blame elsewhere....

yes the INTS, fumbles are the players fault however a real leader takes all the blame himself and gives all the accolades to those under him....

being a coach in football is no different then being a general in a war..do you think the General blames his men for losing a battle? nope...even if his men were at fault, the general being a "real leader" takes all the blame himself, and when they do well, the General gives most of the praise to his men who serve under him.

Mangini is a poor leader because he doesn't display these basic leadership qualities...say what you want about RAC, but he was a much better leader, and he shouldered most of the blame on himself and never blamed his players, he never threw his players under the bus like Mangini does...Mangini's irritated statements today about Harrison is in fact throwing him under the bus...ya know, the guy who helped save your job..so much for gratitude eh?

Harrison has every right to feel this way...when Harrison does get a chance to play, he will tear it up...but no way he resigns here as long as Mangini is coach you can bet on that....

Well, unless I missed something,, I don't think he was in the doghouse.. he was injured and hillis took over.. so I'm not sure where you are getting that from AD.

If your the HC and you got a guy like Hillis that is running over people,, who do you put in? Personally, I stick with Hillis as my feature back and slip in Davis and Harrison as I see fit.... Nothing to do with whos in or out of the dog house,, I'd just go with the guy that gets it done. Hillis is that guy at this moment..

Didn't he sign a tender offer which means that unless we resign him, he's gone anyway...

Here are the facts as I see them:

1. Harrison is a UFA at the end of the season.
2. We drafted Hardesty to fill his role.
3. We hit on Hillis.
4. There are SB contending teams that are very thin at RB and may pay for a one year rental.

Bottom line, I have no problem trading him.

Do you have the exact quote Owens said? That doesn't surprise me at all. I know Mangini was number one on the list of coaches players wouldn't want to play for in a recent Sports Illustrated poll.

You know how the Donks feel right now about giving us Hillis... Imagine how you'd feel if Harrison got traded for chump change and then come on like last year for about 5 years...

I want him back in the game till I know that was a fluke.
