I almost picked the Bills but I figure the Bengals are due to win one...and this is probably their last chance.

The Bills play hard for 4 quarters, I can see them winning the game.

How does a league celebrating its 100th season only recognize the 53 most recent championships?

Bengals’ long sellout streak ends
Posted by Mike Florio on November 18, 2010, 9:09 AM EST
As streaks go, the Bengals matched Joe DiMaggio, and they beat him by one. But that’s where it ends.

After 57 straight home regular-season sellouts, the Bengals have failed to sell all non-premium tickets to Sunday’s home game against the Bills. As a result, the game won’t be televised locally.

It’s the first Bengals blackout since November 2003.

“Sales have been slow this week and not a lot of progress has been made,” Bengals ticket manager Andrew Brown told Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “The pace has slowed considerably. There’s not a lot of momentum right now to move tickets in bulk.”

The fact that the two teams who’ll play on Sunday have a combined record of 3-15 may have something to do with that.

It’s unclear how many tickets weren’t sold, but the number apparently is high enough to prevent the Bengals and/or their sponsors from buying the unsold seats at 34 cents on the dollar.

Say there are 70,000 unsold tickets. That's $23,800. Hard for me to believe that someone can't cough that up.

Umm, that would be $.34/$1.00 of face value. Avg. ticket for Bengals is $71.04

http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Be...14-35509522f748

So, if there are 70K tickets that ends up being:

70000 * $71.04 *.34 = $1,690,752

(and even if they did the team is still losing 4972800 - 1690752 = 3282048 in pure sales from what a sellout should have been)

This is a case where the Bengals would just be better off giving the tickets away to the public. Don't know if that would constitute a selleot for TV broadcast purposes though.

Considering the stadium only holds $65,535, I bet there's even fewer than that remaining

Paul Brown Stadium can only hold $65,535??? Man no wonder they are in trouble, I have a few briefcases that hold more $$ than that....

Sorry, been busy with law school (I am currently taking a brake from studying to type this). Anyway I have posted like 33 times in a year. That equates to around 2.5 posts a month. I say I am keeping to my normal pace

Law school, eh? Are you a 1L? I sure don't remember things getting busy until the end of November, but that was just my experience...

Nope I'm a third year. I am writing a 50 page paper for my upper level writing requirment that I probably should not have put off. Anyway, the next few weeks will not exactly be relaxing. Oh well, it is my own fault. By the way, where did you go to school?

Back to the Bengals, there is no reason to run from it. It is what it is. The team has massively underachieved and should be blown up. I am not over here enough to know who has been talking smack from the Bengals. I do agree its weak if those people suddenly disappeared. To quote several current politicians "Man up."

Lol I got to admit, that is funny. I am not sure what I was thinking. Growing up in the spell check era has its drawbacks.

That explains it. I didn't recall anyone but a first year freaking out at this time of year in law school.

Ugh, I was fortunate enough to have my writing requirement combined with Moot Court. Pain in the butt though.

I went to Toledo. How's the job search?

And for the sake of not hijacking this forum and thread, the Bengals suck and Meddy and Palmer4MVP are fairweather. It's proven.

Job search is tough. I got some interviews lined up but the market is not good. Many people who graduated in May are yet to find a full time job. I am clerking for a firm here in Columbus but a long term job is still very much up in the air. Since you have been through it, how horrible is my life going to be this summer preparing for the bar?
