Pat Riley will probably turn it around for them, but here's to hoping not.

i know the heat lost, and they don't look like the 7-championship team that lebron claimed they would be, but this adrian wojnarowski stuff is getting incredibly stupid.

the guy is a good writer, but everytime the heat lose, he writes this article that goes overboard about how bad it is, and everytime they blow out a bad team by 30 points, he talks about how they are championship worthy.

it's just kinda stupid.

it's almost like he's an nfl fan writing for the heat.

90% of nfl fans think they're team is horrible after a loss and after a win they think their team is going to the super bowl.

Could be worse...he could be churning out the total junk that Windy is these days.

If you're talking about this article, and LeBron really was complaining about how many minutes he had to play, especially in a loss against a team they will likely meet deep in the playoffs (if they can make it there), then I think the article is fairly on point.

I think he's point on with that team being "soft" as well. I think that was pointed out when they first built that mega-team. Bosh is small for a big guy, Wade goes down in a stiff breeze, they have no front court presence or size, and most of their bench is pretty old. Lebron is arguably their toughest guy, and even he is a pretty big drama queen.

J/C

it's early but:

Cavs have 2nd highest home attendance
Cavs have lowest road attendance

Only Clevelanders want to see the Cavs, but they REALLY want to see them.

Well to be fair ... How many of those are season ticket holders that paid up before they knew where Lebron was headed?

On the brightside ... it should be easy to go watch the Cavs play the Clippers this year. I looked on-line, and they had a single floor seat directly behind the Cavs bench for only $350!

2 things.

1. this is actual attendance, so the season ticket holders are at least showing up.

2. season ticket holders I believe make up around 60-65% of the arena (couldn't find exact numbers). we are still selling out the remaining portion.

Attendence is still based on tickets scanned, not tickets sold.. so yea, they may have bought them before they knew LeBron was leaving but they are still coming to the games (or somebody is using those tickets.. )

that is a great point. the walk up is impressing me. the cleveland fanbase overall is really showing their support. i think the decision brought a lot of cleveland fans together. i think people buy into dan gilbert and byron scott. i hope it keeps up.

I know this was talked about and agreed upon earlier. But I still think that Gilbert writes that letter about James every single time. The reason being, it showed that he was still dedicated to this team and city. I think a lot of people felt that he bought into this situation because of James and then were afraid of what his commitment might be post James.

While not involving one specific player, just look across the path at the Indians and Dolan. That one letter showed that Gilbert is absolutely not afraid to spend on the team after its star player left. It showed that no matter what, he was committed to winning above all else and would do whatever it takes to get that done. The fans respect that and will continue to support the team as long as it is clear that actions are being taken to continue that success.

It is to be expected that we will falter this year as we struggle to find our new identity. However, it is clear that we have an owner that is committed to winning. Then look at the Indians. When they were committed to winning, fans showed up in droves. Once it became evident that the Dolans no longer cared, the fans followed. Cleveland is a blue collar town. As long as you show us that you want to win, we will support you. Once it becomes ONLY about trying to make as much money as possible off of the team, we will take our hard earned money elsewhere.

Long story short, that letter proved to the fans that Gilbert only cares about winning and not the bottom line and will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal. He has certainly proved that in the past, and in my opinion, has continued that path today. As such, the fans still support him and the team no matter how much we struggle to find our new identity.

I think he writes the letter slightly differently if he could do it again, but he definitely writes it.

oh, and Con, if you have any thoughts on Montana to the WAC and/or UCF to the Big East; could you throw them in the college football thread? just interested to see you takes on those.

i wish he would have worded the letter much differently, made it more about the fans than about 23.

but i understand. he jobbed them. i mean he jobbed the fans but he really jobbed the cavs. not calling them. the entire rolling out all these teams fiasco.

but i think from our end, he could have tastefully done the letter a lot better.

i just love the blowhards at bspn saying "oh well now he had reason to leave look at the owner, and now who's gonna go there"

please. you people were pushing lbj out of cleveland ever since that last little ping pong ball dropped in our favor. you never wanted him there and always put the cavs in a negative light, even when they made the finals, or won back to back 60 win teams. so save the garbage.

No Andy and no Mo, but the Cavaliers are hanging in tied 54-54 at the half ......

As soon as I say that the Pacers run off a 9-2 start to the 2nd half ...

Yet another third quarter collapse followed by atrocious defense in the fourth.

Also, Joey Crawford may be the absolute worst official in the NBA.

What a freaking joke this game turned into. I know the Cavs aren't the best team around but I'm sick of watching them choke against the dregs of the East. Trailing by 13 points and we're throwing the ball away and giving up uncontested dunks. Don't wanna hear about not having Mo and Andy. We beat the Celtics without Mo, we should be able to beat the damned Pacers.

The Cavs finally put together a great third quarter tonight defensively, outscored the Sixers by 10 for the quarter and rode that lead to a win. Great game.

Bruce Drennan is right for once. What on earth do we have to lose by offering Greg Oden a contract? We're not going to be a title contender for at the very least 3 years. If he doesn't show us anything, sweet we can get lottery picks. It's not like we'll get big name FA here.

I don't know that he'll leave Portland. He seems to feel bad about the fact he's been hurt his whole rookie contract and is the type of guy I could see sticking with them to prove himself.

I'd bet he leaves for a lesser contract just to get the heck out of dodge. Maybe it was bad karma in the city, unlucky franchise, or just something in the water.

I think he'd want a clean break (though, that's been his problem with his own bones ).

Even if he left and got healthy, I didn't really see much of a talent in him. Sure, he'd be "good"....but is he a superstar, game-changer type of player you ride to a title? I don't think so.

As a role player guy, sure...I'd like to have him (with a heavily incentive-laden contract).

at this point (with much of his development derailed from all the injuries), I would say his benchmark should be Tyson Chandler.

not a superstar, but yeah, every team could use a Tyson Chandler.
