Its wednesday and its been 3 days since the browns game..I am still disappointed and pissed off about our browns. I have like slept 14 hrs a day since our loss to the steelers, so im deppressed too. I guess what im trying to say is, when is this team gonna start playing hard nosed football and stick up for there freaking teammates. No way in HELL should ahole harrison walk around the field gloating about his cheap shots and not ONE browns player got in his face and told him this crap wont be tolerated, NOT ONE. This is not the team i grew up with, these are not the browns we grew to love. They have no damn heart and its breaking mine as i type.

I am so frustrated that i have to go to the bar and see all this steeler crap in a ohio town talking all there smack and not one can name more then 5 players on the steelers team. Ive had it, im fed up. These browns players don't no what it is to put on the browns uniform and play like a browns team we all grew up watching..THEY PLAYED WITH HEART, DETERMINATION, PRIDE AND THEY STUCK UP FOR THERE DANG TEAMMATE.. These guys are the complete opposite of the team in the 80's i grew to love. Show some damn heart and pride, play with passion thats all i ask... With that fellow dawgs i will quit typing. Thanks for letting me vent i feel alittle better now i guess..

Wow, seriously. You are allowing an NFL team to cause you to fall into what seems to be clincial depression? Look, you are the one who chooses to root for the Browns, so therefore....DEAL.

Need to be fair to yourself. We are struggling, but you have no control of that. They are winning, so they are loud; our turn will come. We are getting better, just not quickly. The good I see excites me; the crap and repeated mistakes and tackles, and fumbles, and flags all make me crazy. You are a Browns fan. You care more; you also suffer deeper. It is our job. If it didn't bother you, THEN we have a problem; you have stopped being a fan. Control whatever you can. Choose to look for good stuff until it gets better; maybe avoid the bar some or take a friend or dozen along who like the Browns. Ignore and avoid the folks bugging you. But cheer loudly. We are all working uphil. Frame your issues in a way that is fair and in scale. Is it as bad as you are making it? Maybe so; contend. Contend, pal.

Yep. I always tell myself that if the worst thing that happens to me in a week is that the Browns lose, I'll consider myself pretty lucky.

You're a Steeler fan, you don't understand just how truly frustrating this is.

And no, you don't "choose" to root for the Browns. I "choose" to show a temporary enthusiasm for other teams that pique my interest from time to time (Greatest Show on Turf Rams, Eagles of the past few seasons, etc.) but the Browns fandom never dies and nothing comes before it, no matter how frustrating it gets. Watching Steeler Fan in Cleveland makes me want to punch each and every one of them in the jaw, quite frankly. I want them to get the hell out of my city because they don't belong. It makes my blood pressure rise to see Steeler jerseys (it's been proven, my grandma is a retired nurse and tested it just for fun).

That said, I'm strangely content with the Browns this year despite the record. It's very weird. Other years I'm tearing my hair out, maybe it's because I see a foundation and real progress over last season and 2008.

That's fine and good for you for sticking by your team no matter how badly they suck and no matter for how long, however, he IS CHOOSING to allow his football team to disrupt his life and his happiness. So yes, he is "choosing" to be in misery...all because of a football team.

Shep threw a hissy fit after the game on Sunday...a real bad one in fact. But then he got over it the next day and proceeded with his life in a normal fashion.

Anyone who allows the NFL to rule their life and emotions (as such the case with you as well, since you admitted to your blood pressure rising) need to get their priorities straight, and if you choose to root for a team that hasn't done well in recent years, then that's all on YOU....NOT the Browns, and NOT the Steelers.

Just get drunk. It makes watching the games easier.

In fact, it's the only way I can tolerate this team anymore

i'm a cleveland fan, and if i let my teams ruin my day, i'd have probably already commited suicide by now.

the quicker you get over it, the better. i'm over the browns, i'm over lebron, and i'm over the fact that the tribe will never really compete. i'm already over the fact that ohio state tossed away their season because of a bad quarter.

Sports are supposed to be fun. Losing sucks but if you're depressed longer than an hour, you're too invested in an outcome. I'd suggest pulling back and readjusting your priorities.

Like brownsfansince79 said, if the worst thing that happened to you in the last seven days was the Browns losing a football game...then you lead a pretty good life. There are others that have been diagnossed with cancer, lost a family member, weren't able to pay bills, lost their house, or any other number of crappy things.

There's pride to be envolved with a team...not to the point where it is making you actually depressed and bitter. As in, affecting your life.

How do I know this? Because I was once just like this. I then went through some really screwed up things and realized how unimportant a Browns loss is. Heck, even a win too.

Be patient, enjoy the games, and know on a long enough timeline the Browns will become dominant again. Hang in there.

Maybe the NFL should stop keeping scores and standings, and give everyone a Lombardi trophy at the end of the season. Then all fans of all teams would be joyful and co-exist in bliss.

I feel the same here,...gotta get over it, and I always come back because of hope. Now in the Browns case, aside from the math, they are done for the year, but I will still watch every down. In the Buckeye's case, as I do every year after a loss, I immediately set into motion my plan for getting back to the show.

I have officially quit the NBA, and am waiting for my two young neighbors to drag me out to see the Blue Jackets.

I never quit on NASCAR even though my Fords are not doing well.

The Tribe is small market. Baseball is broken. I'm sure Christy must feel this way about the Pirates, if she follows them (I know Shep likes the Reds.)

When it's on, the sport I really love to watch is college track.

And I have way too many other outside hobbies and interests to allow the Browns to affect my morale there.

I take pride in the fact that through all of the disappointment, frustration and sadness, I am still a Browns fan. Many left long ago because it was the easier thing to do.

It just is what it is.

we've all been there. hope this is just a needed vent and if so, well, that's what the board is for.

take a look at the postgame threads and you'll see a lot of venting. most guys have a cycle down for their week now (something like Sunday/Monday irate, Tuesday angry but rationalizing, Wednesday start looking ahead, Thursday start downplaying next opponent, Friday/Saturday blind optimism).

I'm with ya. When the Browns lose, I'm mad for about an hour.

If it's a loss to Pittsburgh, Baltimore or Cincinnati, I might be mad for 3 hours.

After that, I go about my day.

Kentucky basketball, however, I stay in a bad mood for the rest of the day after a loss. 2-3 days if it's a tournament loss

I concur.

I love the Browns.....never miss a game. Losses bug me. By monday morning, eh - just another loss. OR, eh, just another win.

OSU losing Sat. bothered me much more than the Browns. They had the world by the tail, and puked it up. Plus, my wife and I had gone to Ann Arbor to watch the Wolverines and had an hour and a half drive home, listening to the Bucks on the radio. My wife HATES OSU - and trust me, she was happy on the way home and she is not above rubbing it in. At all.

Baseball? I haven't watched a game in a long time.

NBA? I watched some of the playoffs last season.

Too much other stuff to do, and have fun with, to let a Browns loss, or an OSU loss affect me for more than just a little.

well I for one agree with Kazbone's original contention that the Browns I grew up with would not have tolerated one, let alone two starters knocked nearly unconscious by a knuckle dragging Steeler, or any other team for that matter. Someone would have taken out his knee and made damn sure he was done for the day at a minimum. To do nothing at all sends the worst message to both the opposition and to your teammates; your easily intimidated and your teammates don't matter all that much to you. Kazbone is absolutely spot on.

as for him taking this stuff too seriously, I'm guessing Kazbone is no older than his twenties, so his life probably hasn't made sports less relevent yet. I'd guess he's a lot like the majority of people on this board during that timeframe of their lives.

What happened? Did a ref delete his post?

I get over a loss pretty quick and the disappointment doesn't linger through the week, not like the euphoria of a win. But maybe that's cuz a win is a rarity.

Thanks for the posts guys. I feel better because of them. This truly is a kool board and we all have each others back.. Back to the topic though, you see i quit getting too upset when the browns lose, i kinda started that this year. I wasnt to upset about our other loses or not upset for days(like the steelers game) maybe just that sunday. I'll be 31 in 6 days so im trying to grow out of it.

I just hate losing to the steelers and see them get in my mind favortism from the refs. No flag on harrison are u kidding me. Thats just bull. I did see some things i did like sunday(mcoy) but what really ticked me off is our team couldnt stick up for its players, even the tool palmer did it. I don't think this team knows how important this rivalry is to us. They just don't understand it. Hopefully one day they will, cuz i know all of us try to beat it in there heads that we hate pittsburgh and we wont tolerate cheap shots from them.. But on a brighter note i do think we are improving and are laying down the foundation to getting back to are winning ways.

Dude, just do what I do. Monday morning I pulled into the gas station. There's my cousin, a steeler fan. I rolled the window down, drove past him slowly and gave him the finger.

I did it again wednesday. Made me feel warm and tingly all over. And I'll flip him again every time I see him.

How many dang bandwagon steeler fans i have in my town, i think my finger would get a pretty good excersize. hehe

Seriously, it's actually not bad advice. Make it more of a social event. Normally a bunch of buddies will get together and we'll all watch it at someone's place, or the bar, or occasionally go to the game. Yeah, some of us get pretty disappointed at the end of the game, but by 4:30 or so, we're all happy and it's behind us. Ruining your life and being upset and depressed for days and weeks over a football team? Good riddance.

And before someone calls me out for not being a 'true fan' or whatever other nonsense, I watch (and sometimes re-watch) every game, read forums, and genuinely try to follow the team. But there's no way in heck that a loss or a bad season is going to ruin my life. Some of the recent Cavs losses deep in the playoffs may have taken a day or two to get over, but that's about it. There are more important things in life.

I always get together with a bunch of browns fans to watch the games, been doing this for years. We call it the garage pound because we watch it in the garage. Garage Pound Site I too always drink during the games, beer and browns football just seems to go together.

The people i watch it with though are older then me and they don't seem to take the losses as harsh as me, must come with age and the growing up process, lol.. I just hate losing to crapsburgh and then hearing it from there fans and most have no idea what football is, just because they win they will buy a jersey.

Anywho im feeling better, its friday morning so going down to the bar tonite in full browns garb and taking a couple of browns faithfulls with me and well get ready for the saints, plus the bartender at the local pub is a big browns fans and she has season tickets and she only works on friday so i can vent to her and she'll make me feel better.. Go Browns. WOOF WOOF WOOF..

Exactly. I was halfway joking when I said "Just get drunk" lol, but I do the same thing. Sunday Browns games are family time for me. Yeah, it's frustrating that we lose so often, but win or lose the entire family still gets together every Sunday. We all chip in $20 or so every year for my brother to order the NFL Sunday Ticket so we never miss a game, and every Sunday, that's where we all are.

Kaz, find another reason to make Sundays enjoyable. For Hasug, it's about hanging out with friends and having a good time. For me it's about spending time with family. Do that, and just imagine how much more enjoyable those Sundays are going to be when we're finally winning
