Disclaimer: i love the guy. With that being said, is his lack of performance injury related, an issue with our return teams, or the fact that he has lost a step? I hope for his sake its injury related. The guy just seems less explosive. I appreciate him sucking it up and playing, but maybe he needs to sit until he fully recovers.

Well now that he has shown he can and will at times pass if they try and kick him in a corner.

The rules have changed for everyone, so it was nice to see some possible solutions to get Cribbs better opportunities to return some punts.

He's been on the injury report often with an ankle. Then there's the concussion which is why we didn't see the wildcat Sunday I'll bet.

Not to mention that being the BEST return man in the business tends to have teams kicking away and keying in on him. That pass this week will keep them more honest. Look for a lot of punts to go out of bounds now.

That didn't hurt him last year.

he's not kamikaze anymore on kickoffs. maybe because we use him more on offense. once we can get real receivers he will be off the field more. maybe we will see the kamikaze then again.

only way to beat the new wedge rule (last year new) is the kamikaze.

nothing against josh, he's just trying to live

My wife and I both thinks he has lost a step. He doesn't look like he has that extra gear anymore. He looks like everyone else now.

The Wildcat has been figured out. No one really runs it successfully anymore.

On returns teams are just keying in on him more because they can't let him be the one that beats you.

That's already happening this season. Also, teams are sacrificing distance for hang-time to force a lot of fair catches and/or very short returns. It's easier to neutralize him on punt returns than kickoffs.

True that. Also, we have had no offense, especially last year to speak of. He was the Threat, period. He is seeing a lot more pressure and attention. We had a game this season where he didn't even attempt a return on a number of punts and kickoffs. That is like lost offensive plays IMO. If he is your elephant gun, then hunt! At least he has given us some decent field position lately. Not quite as edgy this year IMO as well.

I'm not sure the return blocking has been as good as it was either. It looks like, on KOs, that the kick team is getting downfield easier.

I will say that it seemed in the Saints game he was running hard on those kick returns. Before that, he always seemed kind of hesitant.

LMAO he needs holes or at least a gap to run through. So far this season those have not been there on kickoff or punt returns. Just like a running back if there is no where to run he won't look good. If he has a whole to run through he will look great. Pay attention folks

Tony Grossi stated in one of his articles that sources have told him Josh Cribbs has gotten a bigger head since signing his new contract.

I know it's Grossi reporting this, but it's interesting to think about.

also note that he was never a great PR to begin with. he was good but he was a great KR, a great Kick cover, a great Punt cover, and a good PR..

He'll break one soon. Teams are really weary of him on Kickoffs and have been kicking away from him. Punt returns were never his thing, but he's still good at them. He's fair catching more this year it seems. Why that is, i'm not sure, but honestly, when it comes to punts, I'm fine with a fair catch every time, as long as he doesn't fumble it.
