Rams, Bengals meet sellout requirements

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 29, 2010 2:40 PM ET

Fans in St. Louis and Cincinnati will get to watch their home teams on television this year.

The Rams still have 4,000 seats available, but sold enough tickets so that Rams-Panthers will be shown locally. Tickets are also available in Cincinnati, but the Bengals will continue their 56-game streak of "sellouts" that avoid a television blackout.

A number of local businesses chipped in to buy the Bengals seats, and the team also purchased tickets for distribution to local military families. Nicely done.

As usual, the Bengals got some help to avoid the blackout.

Channel 12 and Cintas gave an assist, as did Time Warner Cable and AAA Allied Group. And the Bengals purchased tickets to distribute to local military families.

Pretty sad to see a team have to buy it's own tickets and give them away to get people to attend......even though they are "playoff bound."

Nothing new here accept the amount of contributors. It's only been Kroger and Channel 12 who have kept the sell out streak alive the past 3 years.

Every week every NFL team should be giving away tickets in this fashion. My guess is, it happens a whole lot more than we hear about.

Their fans will be suing the team again after this week to get their season ticket money back. First to worst! I love it. I can see it now..."Fire Marvin Lewis!" "Cut Carson Palmer!" The bandwagon will be going full tilt on Monday.

I drove past Paul Brown Stadium yesterday on my way back from Kentucky. All I could see was the upper level, but I saw quite a few empty seats...

That kinda answered my next question:

Do people go even when offered a free ticket? I mean, you've got parking costs to consider, gas to and from, the expense of food and beverage, not to mention the time away from things you'd rather be doing on a Sunday anyway.

My guess is the Bengals are going to have to offer quite a bit more in incentives to lure the locals out of their holes.

I'd rather pick my nose 'til it bleeds than go to a bungles game.

I think they falled down and go'd boom.

Just like their team did.

Free hot dogs from Palmer perhaps?

Wow. So hilarious.

What's going to be higher this year? Big Ben's rape count or his INT total?

Not to defend the rapist, by any means. But, the guy has thrown 2 picks in his 3 games this year. Your Quarterback on the other hand, has thrown 7 picks in 7 games.

Including an INT that cost you the game against Tampa Bay, and an INT when you were driving with a chance to tie yesterday.

I don't think Bengals fans can really talk about a QB throwing picks this year...

You're making fun of INT's?

I think the Dolphins yesterday bobbled and dropped more "should-have-been" INTs than Palmer has thrown all season.

You actually lost to a team that looked like it was trying to lose. I mean, they literally handed you a touchdown...

...and you lost.

You have to wonder what Carson Palmer was thinking when he agreed to do that advertisment. He either got paid a nice amount of money or he got free hot dogs from John Morrell for the rest of his life. I can't see any other reason.
