"I want NO part of Randy Moss." - conventional Dawg Talker wisdom
Normally, I'd agree with that, but our receivers have been that terrible this year.
At this point in his career, Moss is the ultimate decoy. Double coverage renders him ineffective personally but it opens up everything for the guys around him. (Think '09 Pats offense where Wes Welker was the real weapon, Moss opened it up for him)
I could easily see him being a JET. Ryan is the kind of guy who would take on a player like that and would also stop him from going back to a division rival in the Pats.

Jets need to learn how to play with one headache of a WR (holmes) but it wouldn't surprise me to see him go there.

wait, only one? and you picked Holmes?
(hope the refs don't see that I think that might be a banishable offense here )
I was trying to be kind to BE.... figured I'd slam the former Steeler....
but you are right... they have two WRs that have a history of problems... I don't think it'd be as bad if moss went to Cincy, but man can you imagine those three in NY... wow....

Uhhhh, that thought entered my mind, a playoff team will claim him.
Can he reject a team if someone claims him off of waivers?
No.
Depends on how you define 'reject' I guess. If he doesn't report then he's shut down without pay for the rest of the season, so that most likely won't happen. I could see him reporting to a team then doing exactly what he did to the Vikings, though.
I don't think we should submit a waiver claim for Moss, and I say that fully realizing he'd, in an ideal world, be a huge upgrade over any receiver we have, and that he has intricate knowledge of New England's offense.
For starters, I don't think he would want to play for us or try hard whatsoever. I just can't see it ending as a positive.
Best case scenario, he turns a new leaf and he helps us win a couple more games. But in a stacked and top heavy AFC, we'd very likely have to win out to make the playoffs, and I'm not even sure that would guarantee it. 10-6 likely wouldn't be good enough. And then at the end of the year we would lose him (AFAIK we would not be able to use the franchise tag on him since we claimed him on waivers).
I support all that Moss said last night. I think he misses the system Bill had in place once he came to drama land up in Minnesota. Part of this falls on Childress not being able to keep his team under control, however part of the blame for being released falls on Moss as he had dogged a few plays which makes him looks bad. Combine that with the press conference yesterday and this is why he's on waivers.
I'm all for the browns making a claim on him. If he did well up in NE he will do just fine here. With that said, I'll doubt he makes it to us.
Quote: Oh man, Cinci.... TO, Moss & Ocho together?
That's a guaranteed implosion of EPIC proportions! LOLZ
I haven't been watching them closely but it's been my impression that as bad as they've been this year TO and Ocho have both been pretty quiet and productive. They've sucked because their defense (which garnered lots of top 10 stutus lists in the preseason) has been awful. No?

Looks like in Cynci well, there just aren't enough horrible and unwatched TV shows to go around. OhNo, MO, & TO. Just choke and gag if he comes here. Shocker!

A lot of people said they didn't want T.O. this off season but right about now I wish we would have picked him up. With the way our receivers are playing how do you not take a run at Moss?At least for this season.
I think the wavier system uses a date in September based on team records to determine who gets choice. I don't know if picking up players off the waiver wire adjusts that.
Quote: I can't see any reason why we'd need a drama queen on our team or someone who will only play when he wants to play.
A good reason is that he would open up the offense and really help out our only offensive threat right now, Peyton Hillis. I think that Mangini and the type of players and leadership on our roster can control his ego.
I say give him a shot. Picking him up couldn't hurt considering our glaring need at WR.
I really can't believe people are in favor of bringing in Moss.
He was uncontrollable with Belichick/Brady. Then he went to a Brett Favre QB'ed team with a very strong veteran presence and got cut.
He's untouchable for any losing team. He's untouchable for any team with an unsettled QB situation. And he's untouchable for any team without a head coach who has total control over the locker room. That leaves Miami, New England, New York Jets, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, New York Giants, Green Bay, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Seattle. And you can eliminate some of those teams based on how much they need a WR.
We're 8th on the waiver list, even if we put in for him I seriously doubt he'll drop that far. However Moss and his agent I'm sure are hoping he's done enough to ... everyone off and clear waivers. Then the Viks are stuck with his 6.9 million and he's free to sign with anyone and double dip.
I would want absolutely no parts of Randy Moss unless I had reason to believe he REALLY wanted to be here because he has proven before that just collecting a check isn't enough to ensure that he is going to play hard... and I really doubt at his age that he is going to want to come here and be part of our low flying offense with it's less than HoF QB situation...
