I hate wisonsin so much. They and Butler have set college basketball back by 50 years. At least butler was kind of fun when they had gordan heyward.

I enjoy Wisconsin. It's so opposite of every other team's style, which serves them well in the tourney (when teams don't have as much prep-time for them).

Serves them well in the tourney?

2010 - 2nd round loss (as 4 seed)
2009 - 2nd round loss (as 12 seed)
2008 - Sweet 16 loss (as 3 seed)
2007 - 2nd round loss (as 2 seed)
2006 - 1st round loss (as 9 seed)

That's the past 5 NCAA tourneys.

I don't know really know about it "serving them well in the tourney"

Thank you! The reason why wisky flops in the tourney is because you need a great PG to make it far in the tourney. At least butler had shelvon mack who was decent. I have no idea who is wiskys PG ever.

and now you've gone too far. from what Top posted, Wisc performs to seed. no better, no worse.

one year '09, they outperformed their seed.
one year '07, they underperformed their seed.

that is hardly a Kansas style flop.

5 tourney appearances and the best they ever did was make it to the sweet 16. I think it's a good thing Top didn't post their earlier tourney apperances.

3 of the last 4 years they were a 4 seed or better and they are yet to get past the sweet 16 and they've only been there once? Thats not very good.

The reason is that they probably keep running into teams that can actually score points... that tends to happen as you advance past the first round of the tournament...

I will admit that Wisky is a tough regular season opponent. However when it comes to tourney time they don't scare me.

Does Kentucky and UNC always play eachother?

I hope Barnes finally gets going. The kid is way to damn talented to struggle as much as he has.

Pathetic.... Never seen a team play so lazy and uninspired in a big game in my life.

That's on Calipari, period.

Brandon knight needs to be a bench player. He took too many bad shots against UNC. Kentuckys lack of size was exposed.

Yea, like Harrison Barnes is going to get anywhere close to his senior year...

Until Carolina finds a point guard they are going to struggle..

Then he can just leave as an under achiever and become the next Joseph Forte/Wayne Ellington/Rashard McCants then. Thats still very appealing to me.

The Kentucky Wildcats will join an impressive field of teams for the Champions Classic, an early-season marquee event debuting in 2011 and televised on ESPN.

Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State and Kansas will play in the four-team event. The first Champions Classic will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York.

In year one, Duke will play Michigan State while Kentucky will battle Kansas on November 15, 2011.

Year two, at the Georgia dome in Atlanta, will see Michigan State vs. Kansas and Duke vs. Kentucky on November 13, 2012.

In the third year, played at the United Center in Chicago, Michigan State will play Kentucky and Kansas will meet Duke.

I don't think it's a conference thing. Seems to me like they just decided to take 4 of the best historically best programs and put them together.

I agree to an extent. But, I'm just surprised they didn't invite, let's say Georgetown and UCLA.

Yeah, but right now, it'd be hard to say that these 4 schools aren't the "hottest" programs around right now.

I mean, it does seem like these 4 schools are dominating college basketball.

*Not just wins wise, but you'd be hard pressed to name another school that gets as much attention and publicity as these 4 right now.

yeah, the only other program that you could really even mention in the same breath would be UNC for the past few years and they already have Duke.

Ohio State, Syracuse, Memphis, Gonzaga would probably be the next tier (with Arizona and UCLA falling off recently)

A few years ago. That's the point. Right now, that's THE 4 hottest programs in the country.

UNC, Arizona, UCLA, etc. are all USUALLY up there, but until they start winning, they won't be.

the only problem with that thinking is that it doesn't guarantee they'll be the 4 hottest programs 3 years from now when it's still going on.

that's why I think they should have included UCLA and one of Georgetown/Syracuse/UConn. Include some other prestigious programs that are likely to be on the rise again.

I've read that Irving might be done for the year because of a toe injury.

WOW

Quote:

Duke freshman point guard Kyrie Irving, an early favorite for national freshman of the year, is out indefinitely with a right toe injury, suffered in the second half of Saturday's win against Butler.

No timetable has been set for his return. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Irving didn't break a bone in his toe, but the injury involves ligaments.

The source said Duke is not going to rush Irving back, with his health and long-term future as a likely top-five NBA draft pick in the balance.

Irving told ESPN.com after the game Saturday that he had sprained his toe, and was noticeably limping when he left the locker room. This came after Irving scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half.

Irving injured the toe on a drive to the basket opposite Duke's bench during the 82-70 win. He hobbled and grimaced as he went to the bench. He did return, but only briefly.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement: "Kyrie is going to miss an undetermined amount of time with the toe injury. Our medical staff will continue to monitor the recovery process and he will return to action once it has sufficiently healed. Kyrie is an outstanding player and we are confident that he will bounce back from this setback."

Irving was ESPN.com's national player of the week Monday after he scored 31 points last week in an ACC-Big Ten Challenge win over Michigan State.

Irving has been named ACC rookie of the week three times. He is the nation's top freshman scorer with 17.4 points a game and is in the top 10 in six ACC statistical categories (scoring, assists, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, steals and assist-to-turnover ratio).

Irving's absence means the Blue Devils likely will start Andre Dawkins, who is much more of a shooting guard. They will lean more on senior Nolan Smith as a creator and penetrator. Their strength has been their depth with a four-guard rotation. Now it's down to three, with Seth Curry the top guard coming off the bench.

The top-ranked Blue Devils (8-0) are done with the toughest part of their nonconference schedule. Duke hosts Bradley (Wednesday), Saint Louis (Saturday) and Elon (Monday) before a Dec. 29 game at UNC Greensboro at Greensboro Coliseum (home of the ACC tournament in March).

The ACC season begins at home Jan. 2 against Miami, with a nonconference game against UAB on Jan. 5 interrupting the calendar, followed by Maryland visiting Cameron on Jan. 9.

Duke's first true road game is Jan. 12 at Florida State.

I don't see how the Freshman of the year will be anyone but Terrence Jones.

He had 27 points and 17 rebounds last night against Notre Dame.

Sullinger is the best freshmen. The kid plays like a smaller version of Shaq. Sullinger is just so physically dominate and is very skilled and polished on offense.

That had to be the worst defense David Lighty has ever played. Although that Young kid for IUPI can ball.

Bouncing around the TV last night saw the score of the SYRACUSE vs COLGATE game was 41-6 at the time. Looking this morning, I see Colgate mounted a furious comeback but wound up on the losing side 100-43.
Hell, Duke only beat Colgate by 52, can't understand why they are #1.

Florida Gulf Coast is the worst I've ever seen. They probably have more turnovers than points.

OSU was getting good shots and we passed the ball around, but the ball just would not go in. We messed up on 2 dunks.

I hate to say it, but deshaun thomas can be a liability at times. I've yet to see him pass the ball. He has a scorers mentality, which is what we need off our bench. I like the kids aggresiveness at times, but he needs to learn to either see the court better or just look for a 2nd guy.

Thank you,

I really like OSUs chances. South Carolina is athletic but they are small and are terrible at shooting. There best player is a 5'9 speedy PG. William Buford is 6'5 and has a nice jump shot. OSU is going to be a nightmare for them to defend because we are just as athletic but taller.

I've been flipping between this game and CSU-WVU. OSU was never in doubt. The smallest lead I've seen them have has been 11 points, and they had SCar doubled up at the half.

That said, I hate college basketball so much. Halves instead of quarters, 35-second shot clock, 10 second backcourt, high school three-point line, 5 fouls, soft officiating...can't stand any of it.
