RIP Sparky. He was always the opposition's manager to me, but you couldn't help but like the guy.

76 isn't all that old. However, seeing he suffered from dementia, his passing was probably a small blessing for both he and his loved ones. It was very difficult watching my grandmother suffer through it (as well as seeing the toll it took on my parents). Very sad.

RIP

Been a fan of the Tigers all my life. Sparky was the man leading my childhood team to the World Series win in '84. For that I'll always be thankful.

RIP

RIP, Mr. Anderson.
And I agree, he seemed to be a good person, too.

I had the entire 75 and 76 Big Red Machine on baseball cards. This was back in the day when you had to purchase the gum.

Ditto

Sitting in dads truck listening to the late games on WJR (house radio couldn't pick it up in Urbana). Share a Pepsi with the old man and enjoying every minute, win or lose.

Huge thanks to both of these great men, and dad.

I'd love to hear you expand on that....or maybe not.

RIP Sparky, you were a great baseball guy and a better man. I loved every minute of your time with the Reds.
