Just this minute saw another replay of the Massaquoi hit by Harrison.

Why is Massaquoi not wearing a mouthpiece???

Why isn't it mandatory for all players to wear one....when it can prevent....you guessed it....CONCUSSIONS!!!

Ugh. This needs to be mandatory ASAP.

I find it odd as well. Mandatory or not, you certainly have to question anyone's common sense who would venture onto the field without protection for his teeth?

Dieken has been saying this for at least 2-3 years... probably before that but that's how long I've heard him talk about it.

I know he's the first guy I ever heard talking about it - a few years ago it seemed like he was harping on it but as time has passed it's really come to make sense to me. As others have said, why wouldn't someone go on the field with something so basic that could help you so much? Makes no sense.

Sorry to nitpick, but a mouthguard does nothing for your teeth. It's mostly to protect against concussions (still relevant in this situation).
