BEREA, Ohio - Cleveland Browns linebacker Marcus Benard collapsed in the team’s locker room before practice Thursday.
Benard was sitting on a chair and talking on a cell phone when he collapsed. People in the locker room thought he was joking at first, and then several trainers rushed to his aid, according to NewsChannel5's Andre Knott.
According to reports from the locker room, he was conscious as trainers rushed to his aid. Team staff then ushered media members out of the locker room.
No other information is available at this time.

Pretty sure he means Benard collapsed, not Roth... link Neal Gulkis of the Browns said at 12:47 p.m. that Marcus Benard is ’stable and alert in a local hospital.” This is what we posted before the update: Marcus Benard collapsed in the locker room at 11:59 a.m. Nobody seems to know why. We’ll let you more when we find out more. Practice is underway. An ambulance is waiting outside. Southwest Hospital is within a few-minute drive of the team complex, where players are practicing as if nothing happened. Roth was sitting on his locker-room stool as players were filing out to practice when he slumped off his chair and laid on the floor. Teammate Matt Roth ran out of the locker room yelling, “Trainer, trainer.” Roth nearly knocked over writer Jeff Schudel. It is unclear whether Benard lost consciousness. Brian Smith of the Browns said the club has nothing to say about Roth’s condition for now. Benard leads with Browns with 4 1/2 sacks.
