help me out, folks...
bought a Wii for the family for xmas. mostly, i wanted a way for my 3-year old to start improving his coordination while stuck inside this winter. also wanted something the wife could *maybe* get into.
so, for those of you with the system, what games would you recommend?

mario Kart is the one that I would highly recommend. It is good single player and as a group.

Get them started playing the Wii sports game, great way to get used to the controller and coordination. The boxing game is a nice workout.

I played Wii Party at a friends house on New Years Eve and it was a blast with about 10 people. At the main screen, go down to the bottom right and click mini-games, 4 players, and then pass the controllers around and let the madness begin!

thanks for the suggestions...we already have the sports, though. my boy's still having a hard time managing the 'trigger + movement' games, like bowling & frisbee. he has good fine motor skills, but his body coordination would rank somewhere between epileptic & crackhead!

I have young boys also. Mario Kart and Mario Party were big hits with them. They are also games that the whole family can get into and play together.

as mentioned 'Resort' and 'Sport' are musts.
other games that are fun for younger kids (I have a 4 and 3 yr old)
Super Hero Squad (pretty easy controls, game helps direct them)
Cars - Mater's Tall Tales (some games hard, but most pretty easy. just help them get through the tougher ones)
MarioWorld - tougher game, but my 4 yr old can get through most levels eventually and it's setup great and he thinks it's fun.

My wife and 10 yr. old daughter have gone ballistic over donkey kong. As for coordination and such - that's just hand eye coordination.
Some of the sports games where you get more actively involved (i.e. using that whatever it's called thing - the board on the floor thing) might help.
Regardless, most are fun.
(and this summer, get your 3 yr. old outside hitting baseballs, catching balls, bouncing balls, etc......but you know that)

my 4yr old finally figured out how to reign in grounders. he's been able to catch floaters for awhile but was completely perplexed how to scoop up grounders despite my best efforts until last weekend when some light switch went off in his head. once he had that down, he was able to snare in a bunch of bouncing liners off the hop too. and his smile was a mile-wide.
kids are great fun.

Tell me about it. There's not much better than watching my skinny daughter out hustle someone for a loose ball in basketball, or block out like daddy told her to.......or to watch that skinny girl get up to bat - get in the stance daddy told her - and watch her hit a linedrive, or put one out of the infield......(of course, watching your older kid grad. college and get a good job is right up there)
But, not to highjack the thread..........I don't play wii with my wife or daughter other than bowling, simply because they are better than me - and they rub it in.
I honestly feel wii - or most video games, help immensely with hand eye coordination. In fact, I'm sure of it.

We really like the lego games, Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, etc.
They're fun, you don't "die", meaning you just keep playing no matter how terrible you are.
Actually, my wife and I played the Indiana Jones lego game on New Years Eve and it was a blast.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism
