yeah, I hate owners that put people in football people in charge of running the football team and let them do their jobs.
where's Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones or Al Davis when you need them.
(oh, and he did the same thing with Aston Villa. he is just as hands-off with that team.)

Playing Chelsea is a big deal.
The Browns played a meaningless regular season finale against a clearly better Steelers opponent.
I would have been sitting in the same seat as Randy.
And again, he put MH in charge of the team for a reason. Who cares if the silent, hands-off owner is in the house for every home game?

He runs the team. He's paid for the players. He's paid for the coaches.
It's not like him being in Cleveland would have changed anything.
you had a good run Hank.

He owns two franchises, one is decent and playing for something, the other is lousy and playing for nothing.. no, his decision doesn't bug me. If we were 8-7 and a win would get us into the playoffs it would bug me more...

Prove to us he doesn't care.
He owns two teams, he had to make a choice where to be that day/weekend. One of his teams was going to miss out. I don't see how that proves he doesn't care.
And again, what does being in attendance prove anyway? I care about the Browns more than any team I follow...and I haven't been to a Browns game in Cleveland for years and years.

piling on...
it's likely that Holmgren had already decided to part ways with Mangini and notified Lerner. Last game of a lame-duck coach + we all know how much Lerner loves the media and today is a huge day for it (instead he is safely away overseas)

agree...it's what we call a cash cow in my business....Browns make him the money so he can enjoy all the other actual interests he has w/o dipping into daddy's trust fund
I'm sure you'll get tons of defenders with the tired line of "would you rather have Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder?"....but there's also the Dan Rooney's and Bob Kraft's of the world and I'd probably rather have Jerry Jones to be honest

It does bug me a tik because it is the Steelers AND we got our heads handed to us, but what are you going to do about it? Lerner, unlike pocket lint Dolan, will pay whatever it will take to get the Browns into a winner. If there wasn't a salary cap, we would have the players. So, the only thing you can throw money at is the staff and he has thrown a lot of money and will continue to throw a lot of money at this thing.

Unfreakingbelievable.
amm...tell us, what difference did it make?
Looks to me like he made good choice considering the pile of crap the Browns left on the field...ya think?

I hate to agree with everyone but you seem to be Rizzo's puppet...
It's evident by the press conference that Randy does care about the team. Randy and Mike meet weekly.

How does that equate to him not caring. I wasn't at yesterdays game either, I guess that means I don't care about the Browns either.

No, it doesn't bother me at all... He's a billionaire with his hands in a bunch things.. The Browns may be the only thing you have to concern yourself with, but I"m sure he's got a ton of things to do..
Besides, he's hired Holmgren to run the team and deal with league issues...
Why is it so damn important that he attend each and every game?
Some reporter a few years back was making a big stink about Randy Lerner and his love for English Soccer... BIG FREAKIN DEAL...
Then we had all the damn fool fans wanting him to sell the team last season..., How freakin dumb is that?
Then he goes out and lands Holmgren and everyone thinks,, wow,, Great..
And now, he doesn't attend one freakin game and you bring it up as if it's a big deal
wow,,,, Grow the hell up

I'd rather have an owner who hires the right people and stays out of the public eye.
How did Jerry Jones, Mike Brown, and Daniel Snyder's teams do this year?

I frickin' hate soccer and I would rather have watched a soccer game yesterday. Lerner is doing things the right way.....hired good people to run the team, is generous with the checkbook and lets them do what they do best.

Ha ha ha....funny.
I've continued watching soccer after this years World Cup. And to be quite frank, compared to most US televised sporting events, the pace is better. No commercials and constant action (I understand if you don't like the type of action soccer provides).
Plus, it helps that I'm not bothering myself with the NBA at all....so I have extra "sports space" in my brain.
I might end up buying into the Fox Sports Soccer plan to get more EPL games.
Anyway....just wanted to say that (slow first day back to work after 15 days off).

I ALWAYS care. But he OWNS them; this is reaching some, Ammo. He cares with his wallet; like there isn't enough misery here already. Gimme a coach.

Ditto. I don't care if europeans or africans......or south americans, or whoever, love it. I don't. It's good at a local level because kids get away from the tv and get some excercise.....but it's a boring sport.
The push to have soccer become so big here reminds me of the push for F1 racing......or, honestly, what Indy car racing has become - they try to cram it down our throats - the road courses - because "other countries love it". So? Who cares? If I want to see a parade, I'll go to a parade.

He was also there to deal with business issues and the manager of the team.
It wasn't just a game visit.

While I was listening to the radio this morning, Rizzo actually started talking about this. It was about that time I turned his show off.
Sadly, I had no idea that Snyder was still on 1100.
