While the Cavaliers are struggling on the court this season without their former superstar, the organization is still making waves in the community. In perhaps one of the most amazing stories I've ever seen.

Ted Williams, who was previously homeless held up a sign every day telling the world about his "Golden Radio Voice". Someone pulled off to the side of the road to speak with him and video taped the man, and he wasn't lying. This guy has an incredible voice!

Apparently the Cleveland Cavaliers took notice after the Columbus Dispatch featured the man in the paper they and offered him a job and a house. Williams was on a local radio station, WNCI exclaiming "The Cleveland Cavaliers just offered me a full-time job and a house! A house! A house!"

He also added "I've been out there about a year; I just didn't know anything like this would ever happen. There's so many words. I've already been compared to Susan Boyle. I'm just so happy."

It's unclear what position the Cavaliers have offered Williams, but it is an incredible story of redemption after Williams threw his career away years ago admittedly due to drugs and alcohol.

"Just to get back to some normalcy and responsibility.. If I can get a job, whether it's a $25,000 or even $18,000, I'd be happy. At least I know God has me where he wants me."

Here is the video... it's pretty incredible how this all went down.

Good for him, wish him luck.

Hope he's gotten that drug and alcohol issue resolved as well.

I saw this video posted on Facebook yesterday. Great to see someone saw the report/video and decided to give the guy a 2nd chance. Clean for two years. Gotta respect him for that.

seems like a really good guy, i am glad dan gilbert showed that he's not just a guy who can write letters. the man is a genius. he will make something out of this.

awesome story. glad it involves our basketball team too.

said thing is. the minute he walks into the cavs organization, he is probably the most talented guy in the building. lolz

Just read that he's go offers rolling in! Cavs, possibly NFL Films, some radio stations, some company that wants to hire him to do voice overs for their commercials etc.

God bless the reporter from the Columbus Dispatch for that video.

nice guy or so it seems. He got an offer from Kraft foods to do commercial voice overs, the Cavs and some other companies.., The offers are rolling in...

This is a disgrace this guy is getting another chance. I'm all for 2nd chances, but this guy is 53, and seems like he hasn't learned with his past mistakes.Just look at his rap sheet.?? Since when is hiring a convicted felon good business?? With all of the good people that are out of work that have played by the rules, this doesn't sit well with me.

Gheesh. Chilax

Did you hear the dudes voice..Those pipes don't come around very often.. he's got some skills there..

And yeah, he clearly has screwed up.. where would you rather see him,, on the street, doing drugs, stealing. Or in a decent apartment, earning a living and paying taxes?

which would you prefer

Let him steal off of you. One thing I don't respect or tolerate is a thief.

Like I said, I'm all for 2nd chances but his rap sheet is extensive. I know convicted felons that can't get jobs making minimum wage. Why should this guy be any different.?? You pay your dues in this country for the most part. He should at least get his life turned around, and show that there is some stability. I just think it's too fast.

You bet. Guy is 53, and hasn't accomplished much of anything in life, except being a criminal. Sure he has a great voice, but you have to play by the rules like everyone else. That's all I ask for.

Ah, you're right. Just because the guy had some problems, and caused some problems........no sense giving him a second chance, right?

May as well put him in prison - not sure what for - but may as well, right? That, or just shoot him, right? After all, he can't really be a productive member of society, can he?

How many chances??? What about his kids. He has 9 of them. who has been taking care of them for the last 15 years, since he's been homeless.?? how could you respect a man that walks out on his kids for drugs and alcohol??

To me this guy needs to prove to everyone that he could actully go into work, and put the time in each day. He hasn't worked in 15 years. What do the cavs do if he can't handle the grind, and doesn't show up one game?? What if he starts drinking again.?? I wouldn't be hesitant if had been taking care of himself for the past few years, but that hasn't been the case.

that may be true. I consider myself a smart businessman. If I was in a similar position of the cavs, I would at least tell this guy that he would have to get himself off the streets, maintain a job for a year or two, and to stay off the drugs & alcohol. If he did all of that then there would be a position for him. To just offer him a position with him not doing anything to earn it, is not smart business, especially with his background. The cavs are asking for trouble on this one. Just my opinion.

A lot of teams probably thought they would watch Michael Vick's transition back into the NFL for a couple years, see how it went, then maybe see if he was worth bringing in.. most of those teams and probably kicking themselves right now.

Look, this guy is going to be a voice of the Cavs.. they didn't bring him in at $20 million and make him the point guard. If he gets in trouble, then he gets in trouble and you fire him or have him arrested or whatever and you say, "Oh well, we tried."

Oh come on ... what's the worse that could happen if the Cavs employed and spoiled an extremely talented guy who had a bad habit of thinking only about himself? Like he'd possibly stab the team in the back down the road??

It's just my opinion Trella,, but your view of this is idiotic..

The choices are:

1 Let him starve

2 pay to feed him cause if he ends back up in prison, that's exactly what will happen.

3 or live and let live.. if someone wants to give him another chance,, who the hell are you to argue with it... are you a Cavs Stock Holder, Kraft Foods Stock Holder? if you are,, complain to them.. not to us.

Unless you are a BIG share Holder... they'll ignore you... which is exactly what i'm gonna do.....

so my views don't align with your so I'm idiotic?? I guess I could say the same about yours...

Some people just can't be helped. Giving this guy a prime job, who hasn't worked in 15 years, isn't the best way to go about things. You just don't go from being homeless to becoming a good, reliable worker overnight.. In case you havn't noticed, most people that are homeless have mental issues, or drug/alcohol problems like the man in this story.

Next time, don't bother responding either. I've never cared for your personality since you've been on this board.

who was talking to you?? I understood what he said. go read my reply if you don't understand. I don't beat around bushes. anytime your opinion disagrees with his, he gets personal. Notice how I didn't respond to him in the first post. I've been on here 4 years, and as I've staed last time, I don't care for the guy. Just the way it is.

Pathetic......this is a 100% feel good story, and here we have someone showing their ignorance. I feel sorry for you man I really do. I agree the guy is just looking for a reaction and someone to fight with.

Because I disagree with the hometown team offering a job to a guy that hasn't worked for 15 years?? A guy that abandoned his 9 kids.?? Yet on top of that, a convicted felon.

If I'm so irrational, how come most places like mcdonald's, and alike won't even consider convicted felons??? I guess they're ignorant too.

Do you have a heart? Seriously everyone makes mistakes in life....or are you that exception that has never made a mistake and lived a perfect life. You dont know this guys story, you have no clue what happened in his life to lead him down the path he was on. Yet you come out here and bash this guy for what? To prove how perfect you are in life? Seriously dude I feel sorry for you....I am not going to get into a pissing contest with you over this....I will simply say pathetic and move on!

who said about being perfect??? you move on, because you know you can't refute any of my arguments.

You can't expect me to have any compassion for this guy. A deadbeat dad. if anything his kids deserves some compassion for having no dad around.

With all the opportunity available, he chose to lead a life of drugs, and alcohol, not taking advantage of his voice. I could see if he was making efforts to turn his life around, but he still decided to live a life on the streets.

I have compassion for people that have lost their homes, and jobs these last couple of years. good, hard- working people.

No you don't. Here you are, all ticked off about a self admitted drug and alcohol abuser - that's been clean for 2 years but apparently lost his job, etc due to his addictions........he gets a chance, and you are trying to tear him down because of his past. You're no different than a person that wouldn't hire an ex-con simply because "he's an ex con".

The dude made mistakes. He not only admits it, he's living with the mistakes - and he gets a chance at improving and you want to tear him down?

Exactly who, in your opinion, deserves a second chance?
