Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer credits a source that says Kolb wants out if the Eagles bring back Vick as a starter. Heck, the source may as well be Kolb’s post-game quotes. He doesn’t try to hide his feelings.
“I love it here, as everybody knows,” Kolb said. “My family’s settled in here. I would love to be starting here. But I want to be starting somewhere.”
Kolb was asked if he could handle another season as a backup in Philadelphia.
“I can’t answer that question,” Kolb said.
It didn’t take long for the offseason quarterback drama to start in Philly again, did it? We suspect this episode will drag on a while because the Eagles probably don’t want to let go Kolb go.

A QB trio of Kolb / McCoy / Delhomme sounds excellent to me.

I think we would "all" be happy to have Kolb on our roster. The question is at what price? For a 7th? heck yea but no way Philly would let him go for a 7th. Our 1st rounder? Ewh, I don't think I would do that. So here's the rub. What are you willing to give up to get Kolb? What will Philly demand in exchange?

j/c I haven't watched him play a lot, but the one game that sticks out, is the one where he couldn't do anything right, got hurt and gave Vick his start. So yeah, by all means, we need to give up the house to get this guy.

Id trade a 3rd for Kolb. Let Mccoy sit on the bench for a few years it obviously didnt hurt Aaron Rodgers.

No, the genie is out of the bottle. We might draft a QB in 2011, but IMO Colt is gonna get every opportunty to be the starter next season. It's his opportunity to show if he can develop into a bonifide NFL quarterback.

If he wanted to start, he should have played better. Even after Vick was lighting it up Kolb got another chance and stunk up the joint. He can EADU.

I agree. I wouldn't be totally surprised if we drafted a QB this year, but it's McCoy's job to lose. Might even end up with a Brees/Rivers scenario.

Exactly. Kolb is, in essence, saying "I couldn't win the starting job on my team, but I deserve to come start for yours."
Hilarious that a guy who has proven nothing in the NFL is telling his team to either trade him or don't re-sign what will be one of the more coveted free agents in the league.

5th or below. I don't really want Kolb on the roster. I see no need to add him so you have another somewhat unproven guy starting? backing up? creating another controversy?
Look, my philosophy on the QB is real simple.... give the job to McCoy and find a decent backup, somebody who KNOWS he's the backup.. or give up the farm and go get a stud. Kolb is neither. He's a marginally proven guy who doesn't look to be much better than McCoy even though he has had his 3 or 4 years to watch and learn and play..
I pass on Kolb.

Bottom line is i doubt we are looking to give anything in the way of picks for a QB.
Trade of a player??.....maybe, but even doubtful then.
The only new QBs added to this roster are guys we can sign free and clear or draft.

First off, I don't want to trade for Kolb, I just posted this because it is a relevant NFL story. But... Quote:

You mean the one where his offensive line was terrible against a fully healthy Green Bay defense? The one where Clay Matthews concussed him? In that game he had only 10 pass attempts. He started four other games and came in relief and played the majority of another. He had two very good. And two bad (one was in the season finale when Philly was resting their starters). And the game he came in relief he was above average.
If we didn't have a QB our front office liked we should definitely try and trade for Kolb. Not only is he young and somewhat experienced (a rarity for a QB who is available). But he knows the offense we will probably run.
I would definitely give up a 2nd rounder for Kolb, if our front office determined we needed a QB.
With all that said, yes Kolb wants to be traded. Will Philly trade him? I doubt it. It would be dumb to trade him when your starter is Michael Vick, a guy who is more likely to get injured on any given play than any QB in the league.

I think Kolb can be a good NFL QB, and I would trade for him (definitely 3rd, and most likely 2nd round pick).
However, no way Philly lets him go that cheaply. He's tied in currently and they need a backup for when Vick gets hurt (assuming they can resign him).

It would take multiple picks to move Kolb......some thing like a high 2nd and later round this year and a 3rd the preceding year.
The Panthers will not be landing a QB with any Luck  and have traded their second round pick,.....
so the next likely Candidate is in Arizona who I think will be looking for a veteran QB and will probably not be looking to select a QB with the 5th pick.
This would be a good fit for Kolb imo who want's to go some where he is likely to start.
The 9ers would be the next possibility with, but I think they tank their start of the next season and pick Luck whom will enter the supplemental draft and you heard it here first

The Titans would be another option.

Yup, that's the game, and that's not a ringing endorsement. IIRC, he played like crap in that game when he did pass. He's not going to come cheap, and I hope we're not willing to pay the price. JMHO

Yes, bring him in and guarantee a QB controversy in Cleveland!  It's not football in Cleveland unless the backup QB looks like Joe Montana. Add a couple vets into the mix and that will lock Gruden up in a heartbeat.

With No Disrespect to Vick cuz he has had a good season.... Kolb is the future for Philly not Vick.
Keeping Vick and letting Kolb go will haunt Philly for years. Letting your next QB for 6-8 years go, for 2-3 years of Vick is a bad move.

Vick has an unbelievable arm and his field vision has improved quite a bit. Who's to say he won't play until he's 36 years old? Look at Randall Cunningham... he played till he was 39. He had the best season of his career (of any QB to that point, really) when he was 35.
Kolb really hasn't shown much of anything yet. You can stack derek anderson's good games up against kolb's and DA would win. DA is only a year older. Letting Vick go would be the mistake.

even with the "fix", i'd gladly take it. the Eagles the past 10 years were far more successful than the Browns in the 80's for instance.
how many teams have had more success the past 12 years than Andy Reid?

The Rams, Saints, and Bucs each won a superbowl, but have had far bigger downturns. If only winning the whole thing matters, then I guess you could make an argument, but they were not consistent at all and, in fact, were downright terrible for years. I put the Giants over the Eagles because they did get to 2 superbowls and won 1 of them. Though they were more of a rollercoaster ride, they were competitive more often than not.
No other team comes close to the success that the Eagles have had since Andy Reid took over.

One answer to two questions: What do all these teams have in common, and what is the one thing Reid can't get done? FTR, I was never happy with the Browns in the 80's either. Marty Shottenloser and Chokey Reid share much in common, IMHO.

If H&H are sold on Colt, no way a guy like Kolb can come in. We have a very nice #2 in Wallace - a guy that expects to be the backup and is a Holmgren guy.
All Kolb does is create another version of 'QB roulette' in Cleveland, which we had the pleasure of playing with DA vs Quinn.

If I am not mistaken, Wallace is a free agent and I doubt he resigns with us to be the backup. He will go somewhere he thinks gives him the best shot at being a starter. That could be us but I think he will go somewhere else.

I did not get the impression this year that Wallace was okay with playing second fiddle to Colt and he will be free to sign else where and probably will, but I think he could be missing out on a good opportunity here, because they both have similar games and the offense would not have to change, because of a change at QB.
Maybe Holmgren can real him back into the fold.
