Thought he MIGHT be available for our D-Coordinator job, SHOULD it become open . . . http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6019160Broncos hire John Fox ESPN.com news services The Denver Broncos have announced that John Fox is the new coach of the franchise. Fox interviewed with the Broncos and John Elway on Wednesday after his flight out of North Carolina was delayed three times this week by winter weather. The Broncos are coming off a franchise-worst 4-12 season. Fox's contract wasn't renewed by the Panthers following an NFL-worst 2-14 season. He was the fifth candidate the Broncos have interviewed to replace Josh McDaniels, who was fired Dec. 6 amid the team's worst slide in four decades and the embarrassing Spygate II videotaping scandal. Fox, 55, spent the last nine seasons as Carolina's coach, going 73-71 and winning five of eight games in three trips to the playoffs. The Panthers were coming off a 1-15 season when he took over in 2002 and led them to a 7-9 mark in his first year before guiding them to the Super Bowl in his second season. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Just the guy to coach up Tebow...
Not.
Fox is an ultra conservative defensive minded coach. Not sure what that means for the offense in Denver.

It means he needs to be careful in his selection of an OC... Either pick one that can coach up Tebow if that's how he wants to go or... since he wasn't the guy that took Tebow, I guess he could go in another direction if he wants to.

Didn't I see a headline somewhere saying Elway isn't a Tebow fan? I'm notorious for reading headlines but not articles.
Anyway, not so sure how long golden boy will be a factor in the equation . . . In Denver, that is . . .

The Broncos are more committed to Tebow than the Titans were to Vince Young, and they almost fired the longest tenured head coach in the league in favor of Young. Tebow isn't going anywhere. New regimes mean new QBs, but not for the Broncos.

Denver gets a proven Coach and we lose a possible DC.....Okay maybe he wasn't a possibility, but Fox was a good hire for Denver who do not have the folks up stairs like H&H.

That isn't saying much for Tebow, now is it? Vince Young is a goner, right?

I think the point that he was trying to make was that Tennessee has hung on to VY for a LONG time. He's, supposedly, about to get canned, but they were considering firing the longest tenured coach to hang onto VY some more.
Tebow is on more solid ground than VY, so he should be ok.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Actually,,
http://www.csnphilly.com/01/10/11/Elway-...amp;feedID=4684
Then this
http://www.footballnewsnow.com/2011/elway-clarifies-tebow-criticism-broncos-have-no-trade-plans/
Let me boil it down for you, Elway was quoted as saying that Tebow wasn't a very good NFL QB at this time.
But later cleared it up when he said, but if anyone can become one, Tebow can.
And he refuted all claims and rumors that Tebow was on the trading block.
Doesn't sound like he's going anywhere.

Yup. The point is, Jeff Fisher drew the line in the sand. Me or Vince Young. Take your pick.
The average fan, analyst and outsider would look at that and side with Fisher. The guy is smart, has a good track record, has been the coach there for seventeen years, and is well respected. It shouldn't even really be a question when you consider Young's (alleged) maturity issues, inconsistency on the field, accuracy issues, and his (again alleged) shortcomings in learning more complex offenses, but all reports made it sound at least 45/55 in keeping Young over Fisher.
So, if the Titans were about to let go of one of the most respected coaches in the league in favor of a floundering Vince Young, they were really committed to him. The Broncos are even more committed to Tebow.
That said, Young will land on his feet somewhere. Miami. San Francisco. Washington, even. His completion percentage was near 60% this past year, he was +7 in the TD/INT ratio, he had a career high in yards per attempt, and he only averaged 2.7 rushes per game. How many of those rushes were designed, I don't know, but it's a low number regardless, so it shows he isn't running after his first option breaks down. He did have 6 fumbles in 9 games, though.

The Rams won 3x as many games than the Panthers did...
I didn't really want Fox....
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I'm not all doom and gloom about Shurmur. The sky is definitely not falling.
But I'd still be a TAD bit happier w/ Fox as our coach.

Him and Holmgren would clash as soon as Fox starts running his ultra conservative offense.
There's not much difference between Coach Fox and Coach Mangini philosophically.

HC experience would be the difference maker for me. Like I said, I'd only be a TAD bit happier.

Fox is a very solid Coach who took his team to the super Bowl. Denver got a very good coach and we got a QB coach with ties to Holmgren and Heckert. I hope they are right because to me we once agin hired a green coach with no experience as a head man. Just when we finally have a front office we get... I have to trust Holmgrens wisdom on this because on paper I am very worried.
