Boy, Shurmur's got some shifty eyes. Gotta love Heckert....he seems genuine in saying that Shurmur has "it". He sure doesn't have command of the interview table, we're in for some dull press conferences.

Exactly. Jeez, I wanna be positive and happy about this so badly, but listening to this guy's delivery, I am not exactly bursting with confidence that he'll get the attention and respect of 53 grown men. Hmmmm.

Offense will be a bit different next year but we'll continue our running attack.

It looks like we're not drafting a QB in the high rounds either.

I still have to wonder about Holmgren talking about how well the team progressed last year, how we were in every game except the very last one, how a FG here or there could have made a difference .......

That still makes me wonder why we made a change.

Shurmur doesn't want to address coordinators .. "The process is important".

Pretty much confirmed they have talked to Jauron and Mike McCoy without saying it.

Holmgren isn't a very good press conference talker.

I like avoiding a question by saying "I'm not trying to avoid the question"

I would be very happy with McCoy. Jauron I have some concerns about given his time in Buffalo.

I like his body language. He's very attentive to the media. He does seem nervous but I know I would be too. His delivery and analysis reminds me of Bernie Kosar.

Edit: WOW! He talked to Cowher...

Hillis (obviously) will be an important player given that he can catch and run. Short passes can almost become runs.

Shurmur feels that he's ready to be a head coach. Likes the resources we have here. Everyone's on the same plage.

Holmgren did talk to Cower. He did talk to Gruden. He did talk to more people than was reported.

I think Shurmur is going to get the time to turn this around that the others maybe did not. Holmgren likes this cat. That's very evident.

Shurmur's confidence level is sure increasing as this progresses. He started out like a scared kid.

It's a lot different when you're in your element than when you're in the interview room. I'm a teacher and speak to a room full of kids every day, but I get uncomfortable if I have to speak to a group of people I don't know. Plus, he's new to this as a head coach. I'm sure (at least at the beginning) he's trying to be careful not to say the wrong thing.

Of course, Belichick isn't a great interview, but is a great coach. I'd rather have that than the other way around.

They had 10 candidates, but only interviewed 3?

I disagree with that logic completely...

I do too.

Well, I hope it all works out because yet another tear down in 2 or 3 or 4 years would SUCK.

I want someone to ask about how we're going to beat the Steelers.

LIke when Lovie Smith came into his first press conference for the Bears....he said right away, our #1 goal is to beat the Packers, then win the division, then the Super Bowl. It was a hit in Chi-town.

Why? In many jobs, a preliminary list is made. Then, the people in charge wittle it down to those they want to interview. I'm not saying they should/shouldn't have interviewed more than three, but I wouldn't expect them to interview 10.

Holmgren had a bit of a "gut reaction" that Pat could handle standing up in front ot the team, and handling being the head coach as opposed to just being a coordinator.

"This is the 1st head coach I have hired. I hope it's the last."

The assistants, he's not going to get into that. He wants to "protect the process" to some degree.

Slight jab about Mangini's hard working players was mentioned.

I don't get a great feeling about this guy .... but hopefully the whole team (front office, head coach and coaching staff) can cover up some of his weaknesses.

He said Process at least as much as Mangini ever did .... for those of you driven crazy by that word in the past.

I don't care what type of feelings he gives me in a press conference.

Rob Ryan was great in press conferences but his defense was sub-par.

Bottom line, can he coach a football team? I don't know. And I won't know until the season starts. I will withhold my judgment of the guy until I see multiple games have been played. Right now it's all talk.
