The Top 10 Nerf Guns of All Time In many ways, the Nerf gun is the go-to toy shooter. While BB guns will shoot your eye out, and water guns require a warm day and open space, Nerf's foam ammo is safe for limbs and fragile furnishings. Nerf has been around for 40 years (the first product was a small foam ball), and foam ballistics have come a long way in that time. They now sport advanced features like lighted scopes and battery-assisted automatic fire. Here are our picks for top 10 coolest Nerf guns of all time, from the classics to the contemporaries. Nerf Bow and Arrow 1991 Nerf Ballzooka 1994 Nerf Crossbow 1995 Nerf Supermaxx 1997 Nerf Lock n Load 1998 Nerf PowerClip DX 1999 Nerf Strike Unity Power System 2004 Nerf Strike Maverick 2006 Nerf Strike Vulcan EBF 2008 Nerf Strike Raider Rapid Fire 2009 web page The link contains pictures and a bit of info about each gun.

Yeah, I kind of figured he needed a little change of pace. Honestly, I haven't touched a nerf gun since the 90's. Looking at the more recent ones, I gotta say I was born too soon.

I dunno...I like the simplicity and efficiency of the bow 'n' arrow and the early Nerf-ball shooters. The new ones are battery powered and have all sorts of extraneous moving parts and whatnot. Give me a Mini Crossbow any day and I'd be happy.

My little brothers, who are 7 and 11, each get a different nerf gun from me every Christmas. They've got quite the collection going. My mom always sends them over to my house in the afternoon on Christmas day when she wants to nap as a "thank you"

Ya, I can recall the joy of waking up as a child and finding an Atari game system under the tree and it was kick-ass at the time!

I loved my Atari 2600. If I could find one that wasn't stupid expensive I would buy it today. It's the last game console that I was able to figure out ...... lol

Back in the good ol' 80s, I had little Nerf wrist rockets. You had a little plunger thingy in the palm of your hand and squeezed it to shoot the rockets. I was the coolest super hero on the block!

I Want.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

A Wii is relatively simple and they are cheap too (compared to the other consoles...). The current Wii bundle is only 180 dollars and comes with two games and a controller.

Yep. I loved the Atari, with Defender, and Centipede, and Joust, and other games like that.
I think I'm gonna have to search EBay for a system if I can find a cheap one.

YTown...Don't DO IT!
Download an emulator for the PC and COUNTLESS games for $0. Do some searches, if you can't find it all, PM and I'll help you out.
As a side note, I'm afraid to see what they're going for now. My sister "Borrowed" mine about 5 years ago for her grand kids to play with. I never saw it again. I do, however, have a Coleco game that is triangle in shape.

Sorry to hi-jacking.....back to nerf....

The Nerf Bow and Arrow was the Classic, I feel like everyone had that one. And the Ballzooka was great also (the most practical, just don't lose the nerf balls!). I had those two when I was a kid, all these other ones seem complicated, although I do remember the crossbow (eh......). I think that Supermax one was my last Nerf Gun, that was cool, but it shot the mini arrows which were easier to lose and wimpy. I also had something that I think was called "The Razor" and it only had three shots, but it hurled Nerf Balls at a very fast speed.
But yeah, I'd put the Ballzooka at number 1, in a nerf war, the balls were always more effective (especially at close range) because they fired fast and you had a lot of ammo.

I've used the emulators on the PC, but it's just not the same.
I also bought the "flashback" or whatever it was called, and it was close to the original, except that it only had certain game, and they are built in and the only ones available as a result.
I'm feeling nostalgic. I want the original.
