Just seeing if people would have interest in a Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league for the board.
The leagues just opened up I think yesterday - and I don't know how you feel about it but just seeing that let's me know spring is on the way. I think baseball leagues are more fun for the board because everyone's not an Indians fan.
So what say you? Would people join if I started a league?

I am currently in 2 Yahoo BB leagues. I wouldn't mind having another team, playing with some of the folks on this board.
You can count me in.
I already have drafts scheduled 3-26 at 5pm and 3-28 at 8 pm.

Well, I didn't need much to convince me to register a league. Set it up for 10 people, if there's a bigger need I can adjust it... League Name - Tools of Ignorance League ID# - 25197 Password - bleacherbums Draft - Monday, March 21st at 8pm EST. (That can be adjusted as well if need be) http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/joinleague?.scrumb=Just click on the "Join Custom" option and go from there. I set it up pretty basic, if anyone wants something changed (i.e. draft date/time, settings) we can discuss. It's all free, but if you sign up please stick with it.

There's a Dawgtalkers fantasy baseball league that's been going on for about 4 years now on Yahoo. I think BpG usually sets it up. I'm not sure if he's doing it again though.
Joe Thomas made Justin Timberlake change his name. He didn't want wusses to have the same initials...

Sounds like that league is closed and reserved for the inner circle since it hasn't been advertised as far as i know.
At any rate, I joined this one. Some of you should as well.
This makes 3 teams for me.
Doing the draft takes some extra time, but in so far as daily management of the team, having multiple teams doesn't require much extra effort.
A quick check of the match-ups and the line-up is set in a minute or two.

Nope........they let me in. BpG posted an invite here a few years ago for anybody who wanted to join and a few of us from here plus some of BpG's buddies make up the 16 team league.
I'd be willing to join bigdatut's league too but that draft time doesn't work for me. I work 2nd shift so it would have to be on a weekend for me.

As I said.
Surely there are more than 10 people on this board who like to play, and not so many who can't play in multiple leagues.
On a daily basis, we are talking maybe 5 minutes a team with an occasional in depth review.
Currently I am in 2 basketball leagues and a hockey league.
It might take a whole 7 minutes a day to set my line-ups...and I am not doing all that well in any, so I spend some extra time..
I won one BB league last year and maybe 4th in the other.....hockey....well, thats another story.....but i wasn't last.

Haha, no inner circle Peen. I think the league just got full and none of us have dropped out. I could join this one, but I dont think the league owner would be thrilled with that.

Hell I don't care who signs up... even Reds fans haha. My only "requirement" for the league is that if people sign up that they stick with it. Feel free to join - I welcome all challengers

Yeah, I will set it up again.
I usually have a one or two people who don't come back. If so I'll post in this forum.

But they usually show up just before the trade deadline and somehow try to manage a "trade" with some schmuck who came up with the idea to trade 3 scrubs for 3 all-stars.
That's when i would quit playing if the rest of the league didn't go with me to veto the trade.
I play in 2 really solid leagues with some really serious and good players.
I've been lucky to find them.
At any rate...why don't some of you branch out, pick up another team, and join this as well??
You don't want to kick my ass???

I'd be willing to move the draft if everyone that's already signed up can make it work too.
What day would be best - Saturday or Sunday? Morning or Evening?

If you end up needing an extra person, then let me know. I don't usually do fantasy baseball, and I would likely be near the bottom of the league since I don't even follow the NL. But, if you need me, I'll promise not to quit

It would be great if everyone would identify themselves in this thread so we know who is who. I don't know who a lot of people are from here in my other league. I'm the Moccasins.

Alright, the draft has been moved to Sunday March 20th at 7pm EST. I didn't want to shoot anyone's Saturday plans and I figured most people are done runnin' around by 7pm on a Sunday. Hope this works for everyone.
Btw, we still need 5 more teams so if you're thinking about playing, please do.
And I'm TheSaltyRogues... a clear tip of the cap to the Pirates.

I'm Eff Pittsburgh in BpG's league.
I would join bigdatut's, but I don't wanna do a fantasy draft while the NCAA tourney is on. Especially since OSU could be playing on that Sunday if they play in Cleveland.

The Sunday games should be wrapping up about that time?
Maybe we can push it back an hour? I know they're over by 8.

According to here there are 4 games that start after 7. If OSU goes to Cleveland they could be playing in one of those games.

Come on. It's not like it is the finals.
If the Bucks are on at that time, then you autodraft. If you set your player list with players you like and adjust them upwards, you can usually get at least some. If not, the computer makes solid choices.
I have left drafts early because they started late and have had to join late and got the same players I would have selected.
As you probably know...after the core players, which the computer will do a good job of selecting, your roster is rarely the same at the beginning of the season as it is at the end.
Plus...this is a match-up league. I have never played in one before and am looking forward. Somehow I think the draft is a little less important then are the weekly adjustments to your roster, seeking at least what you feel are favorable match-ups.
I have always played rotisserie. I like it....sticking with your guys, playing the averages. Somehow I don't think you can play this the same.
When you're hot your hot, when you're not, your not.
Somehow I think staying a week ahead, looking for the guy that always kills a certain team is key to this format.
But like i said, I've never played this way, so maybe i am full of crap.

I never get to draft live, always something going on. It's no big deal, you might not get the best roster to start with, but you can make up for it later on.

I just like picking my own teams rather than autodraft. As for the tournament I'm just really into all the games even if the Buckeyes aren't playing then.
