The Jaguars have told Mike Sims-Walker he won't be back with the team. Also, 5 minutes from now is the last chance we have to tender players and there hasn't been any word on Vickers or Elam

If the NFL extended the deadline 24 hours as reported ... would that allow us the extra 24 hours to tender our players?

I don't think the extension has anything to do with it as today was the deadline to tender players even if there was no lockout.
Also, we already tendered Wright. So it would seem like we would know if Vickers and Elam were tendered.

Gotcha. The only thing I would think is that the deals could have been getting done at the same time and only the Wright one was made official (somewhat unlikely seeing as the news on Seneca came out and d'qwell as well).
And the only other thing ... aside from letting them walk... is that our staff worked hard to get them announced throughout the day? I heard evan moore's deal was done early this afternoon, then D'qwells ... then Wrights, then Wallace's shortly after ... for all we know Vickers' and / or Elam's could have been next and just weren't announced yet?
Either way we should know within the next hour or so.

Maybe we think the tender amounts are too great to pay them and are willing to let other teams set the market for them.
I think Vickers is going to have a greatly reduced role with this team......maybe all the way to no role.
We are going to use 2 back sets with Hillis more or less the FB when a guy like Hardesty is in the game, or anyone else we might draft.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

As far as I know, there has been no official word regarding tenders to Elam, Vickers, Stuckey, or (I believe he is still an RFA as of now) Roth. Their names were just included on a reporter's list of "likely to include" players.

If they put all their apples in a unproven 2nd yr rookie with knee issues we maybe in trouble.
After watching a few goal line stands last year where Vickers was on the sideline should tell you all you need to know about what teams will do when Hillis is in the back field by himself. And I saw DQ torch Hillis in TC last year. Hillis strength is not pass protection. This west coast offense needs some pieces. Signing Moore Helps but losing Vickers is going to tough.

I Hope someone bites on the Eric Wright Tender and snatches him up. If we got a 2nd round pick for him...that means some team didn't watch game tape on him.

Funniest post I've read all day. Even if it was the Packers, it would be nice.

It would be even better if it was someone in our same division..Not worried about him coming back to haunt us. He's still trying to get his head around to locate the ball..ohh no he doesn't do that.

Why would a team sign a second-round tender if they hadn't watched tape on him?
If there weren't so many good late 1st, early 2nd CB prospects this year (Harris, Smith, Williams, Cu. Brown) we might actually be in danger of losing him at that tender. He is a good corner. He had an awful game against Baltimore and a couple bad plays after that, but when he came back from his initial injuries, he played very well.
Man, some of you guys kill me with this Wright hate thing. I guess we just got used to picking on a single corner after the years of Poteat, Ralph Brown, Mickens, etc?

Ha,, not all that funny really.. Basically, you gotta be thinking about ONLY this past season where Wright had just a rough year. But if you look at previous years, he wasn't bad at all.. in fact, he was above average.
So I really don't want to lose him but I bet if you look at his entire body of work, you'll see how easy it would be for some other team to figure he's worth a 2nd.

So James Jones, Legedu Naanee, and Mike Sims-Walker are all unrestricted free agents.

No Not really...pretty much thinking about his whole career. The only reason he was super exposed last year is not because he had a down year..but teams now had to pick between him and Brown...After game tape got out on him being exposed it was all down hill...People threw at will against him..not only that..once they hit his man...Wright couldn't tackle them without them gaining extra yardage..Or they realized that they could throw a deep route on him and because he doesn't locate the ball..chances are good for an interference call or TD.

I am very comfortable with Haden, Wright, and Brown being our top three corners.

I would still want to draft one if available ... but later in the draft as a developmental guy would be fine. Sheldon is getting up there and if he loses a step, or if Wright doesn't rebound as well as we would hope ... or even if there is an injury .. we could be seeing a lot of teams passing on us ..
Not to mention we need to build for the future and by Fall of 2012 (which is far off but not by much) Both Brown and Wright could potentially be done with us.

If the CBA gets done.... I think we should go hard after James Jones. If the Bengals get Green in the draft and we don't go with Julio at #6, we are looking at the same group of WRs we had last year minus Stuckey..... that is scary!
We need to go out and get a WR, and though James Jones has struggled with drops, he has shown that he has the ability if given the chance to be a decent #1 option. He won't find that chance at to many other destinations around the league.
I would be all for drafting Julio Jones at #6 if Heckert saw it as he best fit. Would much rather find a trading partner around #9 or #10, but would hate to see then Rams then jump us. It would be tough to draft him at #6 though if Peterson is sitting there looking us in the face.
