Well, we are trying to decide on where we want to go for our honeymoon. I've found a few pretty good deals. My favorite one that I've found is an all-inclusive week in Fiji for $1800 per person INCLUDING airfare. We figure that we won't have much time for a while for crazy trips like this (will be active Army as of May 2012) and want to really enjoy ourselves.
Other places we would be interested in is a Mediterranean cruise and/or Greece and Italy. Not opposed to Hawaii (although I hope to live there at some point).
In reality, if we can find a nice, interested place at a somewhat reasonable price, I'm all ears. If anyone has any good places or websites for finding deals, I'm all ears as well. Just looking for ideas as it's only 6 months away now.

Bora Bora will be my honeymoon destination a few years from now when I get married. I think it'd definitely be worth it. You only get married once (hopefully )

I was gonna say bora bora as well. I researched it a bit last year, for 10 days, air hotel food and drinks can be done for about 3,500 a person.
If and when I get married, I'm gonna have a super small, budget wedding. I'm gonna splurge on the honeymoon though.
If you are strapped for cash, you can't go wrong with carribean all inclusives.

It really all depends on what type of place you enjoy.
I'd probably snap up the Fiji deal - even though I'm not really a beach person. The price sounds fantastic for getting to such an exotic place. But do your due diligence. Make sure that whatever travel company you're using is VERY reputable, that the resort is has good reviews etc. And if you don't have your passports yet, make sure you're able to get them before you'd leave.

Just found an all inclusive (aside from airfare) to go to Santorini-Mykonos with two days in Athens for $899. Airfare isn't a terrible burden either. Moms husband works for an airline.
What kind of things did you get to do while you where there?

You know what ... it depends on what you're into, and where you live and all ... but I always think a place like Disney World at this time of year is perfect. You might get caught with some kids visiting on spring break, but you can find some pretty good deals, enjoy a lot of things at Disney where they take care of you, plus you still have nightlife and such of Downtown Orlando if you don't want to spend every night in the Disney atmosphere ..
Call me a kid, but they always make everything simple where you're there

If I had the $$, that's what I would have done. A Disney Wedding. Some of my best vacations have been at that place. BEST time of year to go: September. The kiddies are back in school and the weather's still real nice. Few/short lines. LOVED it! Hubs and I are thinking of going back again next March and we were there a year ago this week.

Wife and I did a 12 day Mediterranean cruise in 2007(with 2 extra days in Rome afterward). Was a wonderful cruise, but will set you back 5k per person. We went to Rome, Naples/Pompei, Venice, Croatia, Barcelona, Messina, Monaco, and Livorno/Pisa.
We want to do a Greek Isles cruise next, but need to wait for Greece to get back on it's feet I think.

So....Sept/Oct timeframe? That rules out Hawaii (rainy season). That rules out anything in the Caribbean (hurricane season). We went on our honeymoon at the beginning of October. So we had to make a decision with those constraints in mind. Our spot was here: Hotel Villa Del Sol - The Tides at Zihuatanejo. Zihuatanejo is a little Mexican town on the Pacific, it was mentioned by Andy in 'The Shawshank Redemption'. It's near Ixtapa. Great food, great beach, we had our own Infinity Pool on our deck (Lagoon Suite), awesome room, and we didn't really fly all that far. It's a tad on the pricey side but you get more privacy, no families, & no crowds.

people here went way more extravagant than my wife and I.
we got married in Laguna Beach, CA. spent some time driving up and down the highway and staying in nice places along the way (whale watching at Dana Point, Sea World & Naval Pier in SD, etc.) but mostly we spent it just relaxing on beaches and umm, well, honeymoon stuff

Not even close, you can buy trip insurance. Also because it is hurricane season it is the low season, which means discounted trips.

I would go to the farthest place you can get to within your price range. You really aren't going to go wrong with any "exotic" location, so just pick a place you can afford and do it. Once you get settled into married life, and have kids, etc ... you will find your traveling ability going down the tubes.
We went to Cancun Mexico, and loved it. Our friends went to Fiji and also had a blast. Some of our other friends skipped a big honeymoon, opting to "take one later" and are now regretting it.
Anything local is easier to do when you have kids, so save that for family vacations. Cruises can be amazing, but they're also perfect for when you have kids too since there is plenty to keep them entertained ... save those for later. I'd do that Fiji trip ... sounds like a great place, and you'll have just as much fun as you will anywhere else.
Only other thing I can suggest is if there is ONE place you really want to go, then do it now. We semi-regret not going to Italy for our honeymoon, cause it might be awhile before we get to go now, and we both really want to go there ... but we don't really regret going to Cancun at all. That trip was awesome!

Hurricane season seldom affects cruises. I've had cruises during 2 hurricanes.
1 that hit Cozumel (2003??), we left port 3 hrs earlier than scheduled and skirted around the hurricane. Had some rough seas that afternoon, but it was till sunny and warm.
Another was 2 years ago, again, trying to get to Cozumel, and they changed the itinerary to goto Key West and Grand Cayman instead.
Both were in June/July, of course we were convinced Cozumel was just cursed for us, as we tried another time in (07/08) and they rerouted us to Jamaica due to H1N1 epidemic in Mexico.
We did finally get there in 2010 though.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Been married off and on most of my adult life; Not that I believ in and support marriage (my wife tells me I do); I really dig honeymoons. A short side trip: Intercourse, PA. Just for the T-shirt if nothing else. LOLetc. Seriously though, do it up. First deal sounds like a steal. I also like cruises for the price factor. Try to enjoy! And thanks for serving. Congratulations!

Dominican Republic is where I was married.
Horse drawn carriage, mariachi band, a minister with really broken english and a marriage license in spanish. It was perfect! Since I'm junior and they left the junior off the license, I've insisted over the years that my wife actually married my father and I'm a free man.

Should I ever lose my mind completely and get married, I want to have the wedding held in a comedy club ........ with rim shots after each of the vows .......
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Wherever you go, all inclusive is the way to go.
I got married a couple of years ago, and we went to Montego Bay Jamaica through Sandals. We kind of went all out. Had a butler and everything. It was well worth it though.

It depends who you are. Personally a place like Sandals, or a cruise ship sounds nightmarish. Completely not where I'd want to find myself. I like looking off the beaten path. Choosing my own adventure. Instead of being spoon fed by some bloated resort. Why go to a foreign country if you never leave the americanized resort? Or do all your excursions with the same group of people all week? I much prefer figuring it out on my own. Interacting with local folk in their country. Too me that can't be found in an all inclusive. JMHO

Well, yes....but those are two different types of vacations (adventure versus relaxing). Right after my wedding, I NEEDED 6 days of doing nothing. I didn't want to explore, meet new people, or see new things. I wanted rest, luxurious room, private resort, warm weather, a beach, and lots of private time to....enjoy my wife. In fact, that's my viewpoint on most vacations. I want to sit around and not do anything. I spend most every day working, in the car, dressed up, and missing naps. I like doing the opposite...nothing. The rare exceptions are my bike trips, where it's all about exploring, finding a local restaurant, and just seeing the country. And then snowboarding trips, I spend all my time trying to beat myself up to get as many tough runs in as possible. I come back from those vacations needing a vacation.

Meanwhile on ours, we Whitewater Rafted to the middle of the rainforest to spend the night in an Ecolodge completely isolated from everywhere else. It was just the perfect amount of relaxation vs. adventures. We used this company to book the tours.

You make it sound like you are held hostage at the resort. We do plenty of things outside of the resorts when we go all inclusive.

If you go to Hawaii---go to Kauai. Other than that I would suggest somewhere like the Greek Isle, or Italy, or France.
