http://cleveland.sbnation.com/cleveland-...2-cover-bracketMarch Madness! Peyton Hillis In Madden '12 Cover Bracket by John Bena • Mar 21, 2011 10:58 AM CDT EA Sports has gotten in the spirit of the NCAA Basketball Tournament by making a full-fledged 32-player bracket to decide who will be on the cover of Madden '12. Each team has a representative, and fans can vote on the match-ups to decide who will grace the cover. They are seeded and everything! The Cleveland Browns representative is RB Peyton Hillis, coming in as a #10 seed. His first round opponent is RB Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens. In fact, all first round match-ups are divisional rivalries. The other AFC Central showdown is Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward going up against Cincinnati Bengals DE Carlos Dunlap. Should Hillis get out of the first round, he would face the winner of the (2)Matt Ryan Vs. (15)Jordan Gross showdown. Hillis ran for 1,574 yards in 2010 while scoring 17 touchdowns. Rice finished with 1,220 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Ravens. The No. 1 seeds in the Cover Tournament are Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Chargers QB Philip Rivers.

I think the Cleveland curse has nothing on the Madden curse...
to be honest with the way it's set up this year I don't see Hillis getting it... we'll see..

great idea in theory. let's see how it plays out.
I suggest that we throw all of our support to Seattle's 12th man. It would be nice to see the fans get 'something' during a likely lockout year.

I wonder how exciting the game will be anyway. The whole time, you just sit and watch an empty field. However, I hear the "CBA negotiations" expansion pack will be quite thrilling!
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I wonder... if the union is no longer a union and the CBA is not in effect, can the league lawfully use the likeness of the players for a video game without getting the consent of each individual player?

I would think that depends on if Madden has a contract with the league for the players likeness or if it's contract is directly with the NFLPA (though not in effect I would think that it's contracts with outside sources would still hold up)

as part of this promotion, ESPN is having Hillis/Vick in a combo-chat. really strange as I wouldn't think they are a natural pairing. though Vick has this one right Quote:
Hal (Euclid, OH)
Peyton- if you win would you want the cover to be you trucking, leaping, stiff-arming or celebrating a TD?
Mike Vick (1:38 PM)
Trucking somebody.

also interesting from that chat: Quote:
alex (michigan)
Vick do you plan on getting your team together and setting up practices while you can't contact the coaches?
Peyton Hillis (1:49 PM)
We've already set up work outs and stuff. When it's time we'll set up practices.
Mike Vick (1:49 PM)
Yeah, we have some workouts set up.

Definitely voted for Ray Rice over Hillis.
I love Hillis and will not let him fall victim to the Madden Curse

i don't believe in the madden curse. i don't believe in curses period.
i think the madden thing is more of the expectations. said guy has impressive year, gets to grace the cover of the following year's madden, and usually you don't get away with having 2 unreal years, let alone 2 years without some kind of injury. i think it is the curse of the law of averages more than anything else. in this era of football especially.
i could see hillis having a so/so year cover or no cover. it just happens.

I'm offended that they have Jake Long and Jordan Gross as possibilities for the cover and not Joe Thomas.

Well would you rather him be on the cover or Hillis? Hillis had 17TD's last year and is the face of the Browns offense. Joe is certainly our better player (except for getting Seneca Wallace hurt last year), but as the guy who people think of when they think of the Browns, Hillis is it.
I don't think anyone is questioning who's better Thomas verses Long/Gross, you just gotta wonder why they wouldn't choose someone like Brandon Marshall for the Dolphins instead........... Not sure who to choose on the Panthers because DeAngelo Williams is a FA (i think)
Either way I don't want any of our guys on the cover. I don't care whether you believe in curses or not, I want to cover my bases just in case. I don't want one of our guys on the cover of a videogame. It does nothing for me, and the stats show there's a correlation between being on that cover and having a bad year (the next year)

So what would happen if Seattle fans win? How would the Madden Curse play out for that one? Would stadium goers suddenly find out they've been paying higher prices for a 20oz beer that fits into a 16 oz glass ... oh wait.

Hills won his first round matchup.... See here Either vote for him to win (the Madden curse non-believers)....or vote for him to lose (the Madden curse believers).

Thanks for letting me know, just logged my vote for Matt Ryan.
I love Peyton Hillis and will not risk him facing the Madden Curse (just a precaution, like how I buy Kosher/Halal (or whatever it's called) whenever it's a reasonable option and don't pee on religious property. I'm catholic, but what if I'm wrong and should have been eating this kinda stuff all along)
I don't believe in the curse, but just in case, I will do my work to keep him off the cover

On the other hand, Hines Ward is still up for the cover. So take this opportunity to vote for a Steeler.

If the winner of the tournament will actually be on the cover, then it's a joke. The winner will end up being a cowboy, steeler, patriot, giant, packer or bear. It doesn't matter about the player.
When will this tourney finish up?

You didn't mention Eagles. By all accounts, Michael Vick is dominating the voting so far. He crushed a Cowboy (Ware) in the 1st round. Also, the teams you mentioned have just as many fans who hate their teams. Interesting dynamic of people voting against them just because of what team they play for as well.
Each round is a week of voting.
down to 8 next monday (4/4) final-4 announced 4/11 last-2 announced 4/18 champion announced the day after Easter 4/25
btw, Hillis is beating Matt Ryan, but not by much. if you haven't voted yet, then go vote for Hillis.

I don't think it matters, Aaron Rodgers is coming out of this bracket. He'll be on the cover. Or Vick.

ESPN has been putting up a blog of results. At the last posting, Hillis was ~1000votes ahead. Charles/MoJo virtually deadlocked as the 2 closest battles. edit: here's the link http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/videogam...-madden-12-vote

LINK Hillis won his 2nd round matchup (51% of the vote)! Elite 8 baby! Round 3 is against Jamal Charles. Somehow, I think Hillis will carry into the Final Four. Again, Rodgers is going to win this side of the bracket anyway. And he should win the whole thing. I'm surprised Rivers and Ward lost on the other side. Vick will destroy Willis and Brees will dominate AP. Vote if you care. Rodgers vs. Vick in the finals?

What % of fans out there are voting AGAINST their guy I wonder? I would venture to say a lot (even Browns fans) dont want the madden curse ...

quite possibly, I think it's silly though. I haven't bought a Madden title in years (just don't have the time to play it), but I sure would if Hillis donned the cover.
and, as a bonus, I would suspect the Madden folks might pump a few extra points onto Hillis' resume if he was the cover guy.

Hillis trying to pull the "Cinderella" here. That one bracket is shaping up to be Brees vs Vick ... two guys who've already been on the cover of Madden. We could also get a stereotype-breaking finals of Hillis/Woodhead vs Vick.

Despite the 'madden-fan' support for Vick, I would say Rodgers is the heavy favorite (and deservedly so).
1. This year's Superbowl winning QB. 2. Pinball #'s in a very good offense (even better as a Madden offense) 3. Title-belt pose for cover
