I'll predict an OT game for the Kings and Sharks. Sharks with the win.

I do believe this was a good prediction on my part.

Man.....down 4-0 in the beginning of the 2nd and then they come back to win with 5 goals in the 2nd (and an OT goal)?! Crazy! I fell asleep when it was 4-2. I kinda remember waking up when the OT goal was scored, but I was confused on what was happening so I went back to sleep. Oh well.

i don't care what anyone says, luongo ain't a big time goalie.

I know what you're saying.
He's a good goalie, not yet a great one. And he will be that way until he wins a Stanley Cup.

i'm not so sure. i mean it didn't work once. i don't know if the market could survive. edmonton is really struggling and that's a great hockey town.

i have heard rumblings about quebec getting a team back. i just don't get that. isn't that like the equivalent of milwaukee getting an nfl team? i mean who in quebec is going to turn in their canadiens merch for some new team's?

one other thing i wanted to get out was versus and their coverage. i wish they would go slightly more toward how the nba handles the first round. yes they drag it out, but they also make it so that any fan in any town can watch every single game of every single series.

with the nhl, they broadcast 1 game, then they'll show you the end of a game if they can, then they have the nightcap. i haven't gotten to see some of these series' at all because they haven't been on.

on the other side i love that they are basically going every other day. it makes for a better flow.

Yup, they need to somehow show their product like CBS does with March Madness. Find a sister network to broadcast the game and/or get your site ready to handle the load of carrying a few first round games online. Once you're into the 2nd round, it's easier.

you could probably get away with using versus and one other channel.

versus is owned by comcast so you know that the capability of doing that is there. that's on bettman to push the issue.

other than that, they have done an incredible job presenting the game.

Tonight should be ok. We should be able to catch most of the Habs/Bruins game before the Hawks/Nucks drop.

It's the Kings/Sharks game that starts 30 minutes after the Hawks/Nucks that irks me a bit. We may only catch the last minutes of the 3rd, IF they show us the ending.

Go Hawks....extend the series!

kings and sharks has been GREAT too.

honestly. i think vancouver is in big trouble if they lose tonight. if they make to make that trip all the way back to chicago, the hawks will have the legs for game 6. and in an nhl game 7, ANYTHING can happen

Peter Pocklington was more at fault that Jet fans. He ruined his own team starting with the Gretzky deal! There was a great "30 for 30" show on that whole debacle. Winnepeg deserves another shot before Quebec and Quebec or anywhere else in Canada before another US city!

I'm not ready to say, "if the Hawks win, they'll finish the series in 7".

Well, I might...depends on how the game is played tonight. If they make Louongo look like Game 4 and pre-2011 version, he and the Nucks are toast. If they beat the Nucks but Louongo plays like games 1-2, I still would take them in six or seven.

Having Bolland back changes a lot too. The Hawks might play like Game 4 for the next three games......who knows.

apparently i'm going sunday if they win tonight.

my gut feeling says it's done tonight though.

hawks need to get up early though. if you put that doubt in there right away, and get that building quiet, you can really do some damage.

unfortunately my gf screwed up, we will be able to go to game 6, next round. boo

i don't mind hangin at home and watchin on the big screen though. will be great either way, plus the beer will be better and cheaper

i've said all along that vancouver is going to win, if they don't win this thing sunday, they are not winning game 7, don't care if it's in their house.

and then the entire canucks franchise will be blown up, gm, coach, luongo. all those guys won't be around next year. yikes.

remember how people looked at peyton manning before he won the sb? that's how they're gonna view luongo, even worse though because if he chokes away a 3-0 lead.. wow

they're toast. i mean never say never, but i would not put one cent on vancouver winning that game.

the sad thing is, a lot of changes will probably come as of this. and their coach actually is really good. if you watch how those guys play, their forwards and defensemen, they are playing championship hockey. they are backchecking, banging in the corners, making good passes, they've owned the neutral zone. they are just getting horrible play from their goaltenders. kesler has been a beast. jonathan toews has not been much of a factor the entire series because kesler is locking down.

i thought the schneider move was the wrong one. i would have done that for game 7. playing a young guy like that, who's actually been pretty good, would be better with the home crowd on your side, and a move like that usually elevates the guys in front of him as well.

the kid cost them 2 goals yesterday though.

i actually wouldn't be surprised if it got ugly there tomorrow. the hawks come out storming and don't even give vancouver a chance. i could see it. we've seen some anticlimatic game 7's before.

Maybe you can help me about assigning blame for each goal. You should be good at answering this since you've watched a ton of hockey....but you're also goalie. That must skew your answer.

I've heard Nucks fans blame their defense, blame that a penalty shot is unfair, a defensemen was shielding the goalie, or just blame the tilt of the earth's axis. When a goal is scored, ultimately, is the goalie to blame? He gets paid to keep pucks out of the net.....he HAS to fight through defensive breakdowns, bad ice conditions, power plays, and everything else.

Analogy Attempt: QB is football. Before Peyton Manning won his ring, he was blamed for every loss in the playoffs even if he played well and his defense let him down. Media and fans can use the "sure the defense lost the lead, but Manning should have scored more so the defense didn't need to win it there." Valid or not, the QB is praised or blamed for big games regardless of it being their fault. Is it the same for goalies?

too much praise/credit is very true for qb's, and i think probably for goalies too.

the penalty shot wasn't his fault. the guy put a good move on it. it's a 50/50 chance, percentages are usually right around that too. i think the goalie's have had an advantage in shootouts percentage, but a penalty shot, while technically is the same as a shootout shot, it's much different when you're in the playoffs. although it's my pnilosophy that you take a guy down and take the penalty shot because i think with the adrenaline going in real time the skater has a better shot. whereas in a penalty shot, the goalie has a chance to prepare himself.

the 2 goals where schneider went behind the net to play the puck were his fault, he misplayed them both times.

i thought luongo's play on that OT goal was horrible too. obviously blocker side you can't catch the puck but a paid professional should block that to the corner.

i thought crawford was spectacular in OT, how many freaking shots from the point did vancover get in OT? to keep your head in that situation was incredible. the guy grew up a little yesterday. he's no patrick roy but i think his guys look at him a little differently in that locker room. more trust.

you can talk blame for goals all day. I myself, which is pretty far from these guys, always think I can stop everything. There is always a play to make, There is really one play that you can't stop and that's the backdoor play on a 2 on 1 if executed properly.

anyone see tim thomas' save in OT on saturday? unreal.

tim thomas is one of the best stories in the nhl. american kid, parents were auto workers in flint, michigan. they scratched and clawed their way into making sure he could play hockey, and it paid off. i love the guy. probably not anyone more likable in the league.

I agreed with the idea of starting the backup in Game 6 but Luongo should play game 7. He had a couple bad games, give him a game off and go back to him in Game 7 if you need to (which of course they do). The guy is your #1 tender, you have play Luongo in an elimination game.
BTW, I missed most of the first two periods in Game 5, but I thought Vancouver outplayed Chicago in the third, maybe moreso in OT. The Hawks don't have it wrapped up yet.

The Bruins/Habs series has been a great one. Watching Lightning/Pens tonight, go Pittsburgh!

honestly, Vancouver has outplayed Chicago for a good chunk of this series. Outhustled, outdefended, and outcoached at times. It's more mental than it is anything else.

I don't have a horse in that race, but the pens are getting away with murder. A blatant missed interference call and then Stahl just drove Ohlund into the boards head first with no call.

If Vancouver does win Game 7, it could help them a lot - to survive the adversity of almost blowing a 3-0 series lead.
IF they win tomorrow night.

or it could be that they won their super bowl (or SC final) with beating chicago. although i lean towards your thought, as luongo could go the rest of the playoffs without having to deal with the blackhawk and vince vaughn and chelsea dagger and everything else eating at him.

although it would be funny if they won and in the next series the team played like crap and luongo played off his ass and got no help, lol

I agree, I love Game 7 hockey....Go Bolts!!!!!

And I may have been in the very last row, but I was also there for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals a few years back when the Lightning won it all. There's just nothing like Game 7 of the finals

Looks like Vancouver finally woke up.....but a 1 goal lead means nothing until the horn sounds. If I were a Canucks fan my nerves would be shot with Luongo in goal.

Wow! To give up a shorty in that situation has got to put serious doubt in the Nucks minds. And man, they've been taking horrible shots on their breakaways. The score should be 4-0.

No kidding. Chicago looks like a small shadow of last year's team, but the Canucks just can't put them away. Good PK, though.

Well, the Canucks did what should have been done 3 games ago. That OT goal was awesome! It's good to see the crowd so into it after their team almost blew 4 elimination games.

Great game and series. I wish the Nucks the best.

Sloppy, sloppy pass by Kane to setup that sequence. He looked gassed all night. Oh well, he ended last year on the high of highs. We'll regroup.

Happy about the Habs!

Never saw a second of the Canucks/Hawks game 7, but man, that looked like a heckuva game. Vancouver got a big monkey off their back now, we'll see if that propels the Canucks to a deep playoff run.

The Montreal/Boston series has game 7 tonight, should be a good one.
Sorry about Buffalo, I was hoping they'd be a Cinderella team.
