Masterson didn't have his best stuff, but he still battled and held them to 2. Somebody really taught these kids how to pitch.
I feel like every time I look up Brantley is on base. That kid can play.
Love the approach at the plate tonight. They didn't get frustrated even though Hochevar had great stuff for 5 innings. They kept after it and eventually they got to him.

I dont think the hitting has reached its potential yet.
I'm wondering if mgmt. would pull the trigger on a pitcher at the deadline if one, someone interesting is there and two, if its deemed we could use the help for the stretch/playoffs?

I would make a trade if it was sensible.
With labor uncertainty, I certainly wouldn't trade the house for a 35 year old pitcher on a 2 month rental.
We have a great minor league system, and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to trade for a guy if we were in position to win it all ...... but to make a trade just for the sake of making a trade ..... well, I don't think this team will go down that road.

Antonetti is on record saying that if we are in contention this year we will be buyers.
Now, he didn't say what that would entail. It could be another cheap 'buy' like 2007 (though Kenny Lofton did help spur our run and getting rid of Max Ramirez is why Shapiro demanded Carlos Santana later).
Or it could be something more (we have the lowest payroll we have had in years and a winning season will mean higher attendance)
