Not if Peterson or Green is on the board. If not I'd explore it.

From The Boston Globe: Quote:
ESPN reported that the Patriots have shown an interest in moving up. A league source said the Patriots have spoken to the Browns about the sixth pick and Quinn would be the likely target, although receiver Julio Jones and cornerback Patrick Peterson cannot be discounted.
The Patriots could package the 17th and 28th picks to move up. Or the 17th, 60th (second round), 74th (third), and perhaps a late pick.
Ooh Wee!
If that were to happen I would be very excited. Especially if could some how finagle pick #33 off them. Picks 17, 33, and 74. Yes please! Then hold that 33rd pick for ransom.

I'd give up the chance to draft both of those guys if it meant getting two first rounders.
Aldon Smith and Jimmy Smith? Yes, please! Also that second Patriots pick could be especially valuable if a team is trying to trade back into the 1st to get a QB. That's where we could get an extra 2012 1st rounder.

I don't think I want to see them drop to 17. Might be too low. Going by Point Value, it's on the money..
But I contend it means nothing if you miss out on a guy you really want.

As much as I like the idea of trading down, I'd hate to do it before we know who is picked above us.
I've got a feeling the trade talks going down now are "well, if this guy is still available at your pick, we'll be willing to give you..."
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

What if there is a guy at pick #17 that they really want as well?

Well, I guess if that were the case, that's fine, but how are you going to know your guy is gonna be there?
For me, I want Peterson or Green and you can be sure neither will be there at 17. Hell neither may be there at 6.

This move wouldn't be before the draft but when the Browns were to pick..they'd be freaking stupid to do this now..and I'm not concerned they would..but Holmy is going to listen to offers.

I prefer Jones to Green.
What about trading 6 for 17 and 28.
Then turning around and trading 17 and our 2nd round for a spot back up into the top 10.
And still landing Julio Jones?

I think Jones belongs in that second group of receivers with Cobb, Hankerson, Young and Little.

If we could get Watt at #17 AND still have #28 I would be pretty happy.

Looks like more teams talking to the browns about that #6 spot. Pats, Falocns for certain and 3 additional teams are inquiring. Gonna be an interesting day.
Rams? Texans? Titans? my best guess.

If one of Green and Peterson are sitting their at #6 and the Browns trade down, I'd be furious. This team needs playmakers who will make an impact right away. If both of those guys are gone, I'd definitely be happy to trade down several spots.

If it's our spot that is being targeted then that means it's teams that feel they need to jump San Francisco. Most mocks I've seen has SF looking at QB or CB. Makes sense that teams looking for Gabbert, Peterson or Prince would feel the highest need to get a pick ahead of SF.

For me, I would find it harder to pass on Peterson, but if the price is right .... I would do it. Passing on Green to move down and get Julio Jones and a mid-to-high 2nd round pick makes sense to me. Same thing with passing on Peterson for Prince and a mid-to-high 2nd.

I completely agree. The more players they can draft, the better chance a few of them will pan out. No one knows if Peterson or Green will be sure things so if that's how it works out, I guess it's not a bad strategy.

I wouldn't take it for just their 1st rounders. It'd have to be 17, 28, and 33.
And Tom Brady.

I'd pull a Ditka for them. They can have all our draft picks.

How about 6 and 37 for 17, 28, and 33. With those three picks we could potentially move back up in the 1st AND acquire a 3rd 1st rounder. 17 and 70 could put us at 12. Then 33 and 102 could get us another mid-to-late 1st rounder. This all is obviously very unlikely, but just an idea based on the draft pick value chart. Would have no picks in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, but would have 3 picks in the 1st.

And their mom. I want the 6th unless we have a guy later. Just think we need what we need. FA makes a real 6 stronger in my opinion.

If Peterson is there.. Don't do it...
well then again.. I am a fan of Brandon Harris and Ras-I Dowling who will be available in the 2nd...
Two first round picks? interesting... Just MAY have to do it if this is real.

I would love the 17th and 28 overall just because that 28 can get turned into a pair of 2's to a team who wants to come back in and take ponder / mallet / dalton as well ... Turning the #6 into a #17, a high 2nd (maybe 33 to 39?) and a 2012 2nd round pick from a team like cincy, seattle, or san fran ain't so bad either ...

You don't pass on a 1st rounder like Pete to go gambling on later rounders,...so,...your first instinct is correct. If they pass on Pete (available) I will blow a gasket,...unless it is to make one of the other "pre-conceived" deals with SF so they can get/steal Gabbert away from Washington.
I'd be dealing with anyone and raping their farms to get what I want. If there is no rape, then screw them,...no pun intended.
What we do not know is what the Browns WANT,...we know what they need,...
2 hours, 40 minutes,....crapshoot.

I forget where I saw/read this, but I remember a GM saying that they consider it when discussing trades. Basically he said it's not the end all be all, and if a team really wants/needs a certain player then the pick value doesn't really matter to them. However, it's a decent indicator of fair value for picks, and if a team really wants to get out of a certain spot they have an idea of what should come in return.

ATL picks 27th.
If we're trading with them we better be getting a helluva deal.

I think that would be plenty. We could then move around even more to get wherever we want to in the 1st round.

They'd have to be taking something from next year. If we took their first 5 this year we're still 400 points short on the value chart.
We need players this year, not next.
