Looking at it again, they play all their potential cold weather games in Sept/Oct so that was a nice scheduling gift

The only sure wins may be Detroit, Tennessee, Seattle & Carolina twice... I'm still holding out for 5-11.

that Detroit game may be where Ryan gets hurt though. Suh and Fairley are going to be tough to account for.

Good point. Maybe that's what sets up the free fall.

I don't wish for or even hope for injury to any player, but I'd be happy as can be to see the falcons only win 5 to 7 games next season...LOL

Maybe we'll regret Peyton Hillis beating out Ryan in round 2 of the Madden Bracket.

The Falcons gave a copy of that schedule to Jones but he dropped it.

Let's see.
Wk 1: Chicago - NFC Championship Game Wk 2: Philly - NFC East Champs Wk 3: Tampa Bay - 10 wins last year and just missed the playoffs under rookie coach Wk 4: Seattle - NFC West Champs (I know, very week division) Wk 5: Green Bay: Super Bowl Champs Wk 6: Carolina: Okay. Chumps. Wk 7: Detroit: Suh, Fairley & Co. Will they be passing the ball 50-60 times? Wk 9: Indy: At least they'll have 2 weeks to prepare. Wk 10: New Orleans: Pretty good last year. Add in Jordan & Ingram. Wk 11: Tennessee: Okay. More chumps. Wk 12: Minny: Okay. Probably just more chumps, but better quality chumps. Wk 13: Houston: This team can score more points than just about anyone and they've made some really nice additions to that defense with Watt, Reed & Harris. Wk 14: Carolina: The chumps are back. Wk 15: Jacksonville: Hard to say which Jaguars team would show up. Wk 16: New Orleans: Playing for the division lead and you get these guys again? Wk 17: Tampa Bay: What a way to finish out the season.
I dunno about that. They felt they were one good player away from the Super Bowl but I don't think that Julio Jones is going to be enough considering that they have Tampa Bay and New Orleans to contend with just for the division.
That 1st rounder could be a mid-round selection or better.

I'm rooting for McCoy to be our guy, and I think he could be. BUT - if he stinks up the place and we end up 2011 with a top ten draft position of our own, along with a mid-teens 1st rounder from Atlanta, we'll be in prime position to make a run at Stanford's Luck in the 2012 draft, with a lot of ammo to trade up to #1. Call it Plan B ...

I'm not expecting that McCoy will be stinking up anything.
I trust in the front office of this franchise for the first time since the team returned in 1999.
As for the team, I think we'll close that TOP gap that we had this past year. Our defensive additions should help and our offense should improve with more time holding the ball and the change to a WCO.
I like the changes I've seen so far and with 6 picks left (barring trades), they have a good shot at two starters in the 4th round and adding depth or special teams players with the 5th-7th rounders. They could try to package that 5th with those 6th rounders and move up into the 4th again for another targeted player. Even if they got such a trade worked out, they'd still have 4 picks (three 4ths & the compensatory 7th). That's good stuff!

I agree....the falcons are a team ready to make a serious playoff push.
I can see them making the NFC championship....so pick 29-30 sounds about right.

So I want us to win, and Atlanta to self-destruct somehow. Suh might be that equalizer. He might do some lasting damage. I won't root for somebody to get injured, but a mid-round pick would be tasty to play with next year.

That may be true, but whoever has the #1 overall pick will likely need a franchise QB as well, and they are very unlikely to trade the pick away unless they don't think Luck is a franchise QB, but that seems very unlikely.

Schefter has even said that if the Panthers are picking #1 again they should take Luck.

witnin 3 drafts you take QBs in the 2nd, 1st, and 1st rounds?

The only teams I could see not taking Luck if they pick #1 are : Detroit, St. Louis, New England, San Diego, New York, and possibly Carolina, and I don't see any of those teams other than Carolina picking #1 next year.

I think Carolina will be majorly improved. If DA can put up 30 tds under Chud Cam should have 50 lol. Seriously though the NFC south has that whole worst to first thing going on and I could see it happening again with Chud running their offense.

Colts probably, but Manning is getting up there, so they make take him if they would be there.
The Jets were included in New York, but I should have said both.
The Steelers may if they are picking #1. They almost got rid of Ben last year.
The Bears aren't locked to Cutler. If they have the #1 pick, it's at least partly because Cutler threw 25 INTs.
The Saints should be added to the above list, but they also don't have a #1 next year. If they did have the #1 pick and it went to New England, they would draft Luck or do like they always do and get picks for the next 3 year for it.
And the Packer should defintely be on the above list.
