On Seattle taking Carpenter, OT, Bama

Didn't realize that Carroll had signed Tom Cable to coach OL. With Carpenter manning the RT spot and Okung at LT that pick makes alot more sense. Think they should have traded down and I like Carimi better, but I understand what they are doing now at least.

Marshawn Lynch has got to be happy with the move at least. Now, if they just had a QB (note: wonder what they'd be willing to give up to move into the #37 hole to draft Dalton or Kaepernick)

I remember recently seeing a note that he Raiders had Kaepernick with a 1st round grade. Maybe they'll get bent over by the Pats again with the fear that Buffalo will take him.

Three first round picks for NE next year?

That being said, I think Reed goes #33 to the Pats or #34 to the Bills.

hey, why not 3 1st round picks for us? gotta think positive.

and I agree that Reed is likely a Bill if he gets past #33.

if that's the case then I'm back to wondering what the heck Carroll is doing up there (with Carimi still on the board)

I really am conflicted on Bowers.

On one hand he is obviously a very talented player who at one point was considered the #1 prospect in the draft. It seems that if he is healthy he would have a tremendous chip on his shoulder and would play extremely hard to prove all the doubters wrong.

On the other hand we need players that will play right now and in the future. Successfully. And if his knee is as torn up as has been reported; then we have no business taking this guy.

In the end, we need talent. But we also need talent that will see the field. I still think he is too big of a risk in the 2nd round where we can take a very talented player who can contribute immediately.

Heckert sounded like he was trying to be quiet on Bowers, but said he's not concerned about his health. It sounded like he wished nobody asked about him. I think he's the pick if he's there.

Of course, he did say "he was on our board."

If we take Bowers, I'll be satisfied that his knee isn't the issue it's made out to be. I have to believe Heckert & Co. are doing their due diligence. (My concern with Taylor wasn't his foot, it was his character. Having seen the presser, those concerns are somewhat alleviated. I still don't like that we gave away our third, but they wanted him so they did what it took to get him... can't fault that, and like Heckert said, would he still have been there at 27? "We'll never know.") So if we take Bowers, I'd be okay with it, feeling fairly certain that he's good to go. If we pass on him, it's probably because they don't like the knee issue.

Sounds like political-speak to me... action will determine reality. Of course he could and maybe should be gone by the time we pick anyway.

Well, he was considered a top 5 pick before the knee issues came out, and we passed on him at #21 ... so there must be SOME knee concerns there.

I really like Ayers...in a 3-4 defense. I really don't think he has the speed necessary for the 4-3 defense.

I think he could play SOLB. Of course that means moving Fujita to MLB, which I also think he could handle.

And, if anyone cares, Walters has us taking Aaron Williams and Jerrell Jernigan.

PFT, DrafTek and Walters are the only 4/29 re-drafts I've seen.

DraftTek re-drafted all 7 rounds...

I really wouldn't mind if we traded the pick. Maybe some team wants to move up ahead of the Cardinals because they think they will pick Kaepernick or Mallett or Dalton or whatever QB is available.

I have no problem moving down in the 2nd round and picking up more picks.

If we had both Ayers and Fujita on the field at the same time we would have on of the slowest linebacking cores in the league...oh wait, we already do.

Hurry back D'Qwell and Kaluka!

In need of an heir apparent to Carson Palmer, the Cincinnati Bengals engaged the Green Bay Packers in trade talks for the last pick of the draft's first round Thursday night in an effort to acquire a quarterback.

According to league sources, the Bengals' presumed choice was TCU's Andy Dalton.

Palmer earlier this year told the Bengals that he no longer will play for them and desires a trade.

The Bengals and Packers could not agree on the compensation for the 32nd pick, however, so the Packers selected Mississippi State tackle Derek Sherrod just prior to the expiration of the 10-minute clock allotted for first-round picks.

In addition to Dalton, the Bengals have spent considerable time with Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett, who also remains available heading into the second round of the draft Friday (ESPN2, 6 p.m. ET).

Dalton appears to be a better fit for the scheme being installed by Jay Gruden, Cincinnati's new offensive coordinator, but one source said that Mallett's big arm is a better match with the Bengals' first-round draft choice, wide receiver A.J. Green of Georgia.

Bengals owner and president Mike Brown has said he will not trade Palmer, but sources say he may consider it if the team secures a quarterback and gets a favorable trade offer.

Several teams such as the Raiders, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals and Dolphins are among those that could be interested in the veteran, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2003 draft.

No surprise there.

I don't think Dalton is a sure fire franchise QB, but I would love for some team to trade up before the Bengals pick and snag him. Just add to the chaos that is the Bengals.

That begs the question ... what happens if the clock expires and it's the last pick of the day/draft? Do they just shut down, the team doesn't get to pick, and they open the next day with two teams on the clock? Does the team at #33 suddenly go on the clock, and everyone in the war-room has to roll out of bed and try and get a pick in before the team that went over their allotted time puts one in? Does Roger Goodell just yell out "No Soup For You!" and ends the day?

Even more curious what happens at the last pick of the entire draft if they go over their time allotment ... do they just forfeit the pick? Do they get as much time as they want? Does it roll-over to next year and they get to pick #1?

no, he was in the SEC, so his teammates were the paid players.

the Buckeye players don't get paid, so they have to go and pawn off their belongings. they can't even afford tattoos without bartering their stuff for goodness sakes.

Looking at the draft order our pick is between the Bills/Bengals and the Cardinals.......3 QB hungry teams. If the Pats do keep their pick and not trade it to a QB hungry team, and both the Bills/Bengals go QB we should be sitting pretty for a trade down. A team like the Raiders, Seahawks (both need a QB) might be willing to pay a good bit to move up and get the last of QBs before the Cards pick. If it's the Raiders I would probably do it for their 2nd, 3rd and 5th, because we aren't moving down that much..............seahawks have to pay a 1st next year.

Browns are #37 = 530 points
Oakland is #48 = 420 points (lots of Raider jokes for that one)
Oakland's 3rd is #81 = 185 points

So, that'd be 605pts total. A bit unbalanced already before adding the 3rd pick, but hey it's the Raiders.

I'd throw in Atlanta's #124 to make it work. But only if Bowers and Reed are gone.

well that's only another 32pts anyway. maybe they just throw that in there as their 'sweetener'

heck, if they want to do that, I wouldn't mind tossing them back one of our 4th rounders.
