These are guys I'm interested in. Would love a LB, maybe Matthews but his size for a 4-3 bothers me.

#14, actually # 12 b, the only rec, I would even consider drafting lower than him is Tandon Doss indiana, and I had 7th round in my mind .

IN short, I'll probably never be a fan of Greg Little, but I wasn't a fan of Ozzie Newsome while I WAS a big fan of the 1980;s Browns, I have to trust the judgement of the coaches
but this is discouraging.

at the end of the 2010 season, the Browns had a Glaring need at wide receiver.
In February they dug a humongeous Shaun Rogers size hole in the defensive line, and in the draft they filled the hole with peat moss.
A Shaun Rogers clone, and a Kenyon Coleman replacement.

It is almost like they skipped the draft until the Greg little pick, I see him as the 12b, or 14th rated wide receiver in a good draft for them.
The problem was Robiskie, they found a guy who looks just like Robiskie, on paper anyway, at least they know what they are looking for.

Still sore from the Little-pick, horrible, just horrible..1st Ozzie owned us again by selecting T.Smith right in front of us, then we need-reach for Little and then GB takes Cobb...It felt like in 09 with the Mangini 2nd round....need reaching at a deep position on a boom or bust project, who's hasn't played in a year....bummer...guess the only positive is that Little at least has some upside...but still: Heckert better make up for this, I'm starting to not like his "gut system", need reaching for certain player types he seeks...we lost out on Cobb, Moch and Foster for a raw, primadonna WR, who thinks he's a speed WR and hasn't yet realized that he isn't....you just don't draft a project in round 2...what is it with the Browns? We just seem to be too dumb to draft a simple, solid WR...Little's "ceiling" is Braylon Edwards and that's AFTER he is calmed down and not being a headcase anymore, his floor is "2years and out of the league"

Trying to stay positive after that blunder...just draft a good player now and I'll pretend we picked Little in the 4th and the next pick at #59

We all know there's little tape on this kid...But Heckert & Shurmur have it...Watched it...Broke it down...LOVES it...

First thing Shurmur said is this...When u watch a tape u do not want to have to wait too long before u can say WOW...They watch his tape and they said WOW quickly...So they keep watching and keep saying WOW...Actually the word he used was "OK"...lol...

This kid is tough as hell...He tries to HURT YOU with YAC...Which rolls over to downfield blockin'...He's a huge Hines Terd...

There's 2 guys we KNOW they wanted in round 2 and got BOTH...It's obvious because they turned in the card with ZERO hesitation...Hardly used a minute of the allowed 7...That's called certainty on said player...

Sometimes u gotta just say OK...The top cheese obviously like this guy and roll on...

I may be in the minority here but I like all three picks. I just wish we didn't have to use this year's 3rd rounder to jump up for Taylor.

We filled needs and picked players with a little attitude which this team lacked at times, IMO.

They may not have been flashy enough for some but I think all 3 will be playing significant minutes by mid-season, possibly earlier.

Today should be interesting, too, although I can't justify spending a third day in front of the tube watching the Draft. Go back to 2 days and have it start on Friday if you want prime time ratings. Better for Draft parties, too.

but going forward. I think Quan Sturdevant, Ricky Stanzi, TJ Yates (is he still there?), Christian Ballard (well maybe not anymore with the pick of Taylor), and Jaquizz would be worthwhile picks.

but...only Quan really fills a need.

I think Heckert has earned his money. Terrific 2 days of playing the draft game.

Safety, receiver and RB are the most talented positions still available in the draft. offensive guard isnt to bad either. Brewer is the only tackle left worth considering unless we take a chance on Cannon later. Worth a shot if he can get healthy for the 2012 season.

Just how is it that Ozzie owned us?

First we don't control where they pick, second, we didn't have the 59th pick to start with, it basically became a trade up from our 3rd pick. Do you really think Ozzie is wasting his picks to keep us from drafting a certain guy? Seriously...

I understand your trepidation on the Little pick but I'm going to take the glass being half full approach. After watching some of the guys highlights, he's got decent hands, he's big and as a former running back the dude hits guys pretty hard. His route running might be a bit suspect but in the WCO they aren't running that deep of routes, and Little's YAC potential looks pretty good. All things considered he could fit in quite well with our offense.

I love the first 2 picks ..... and the jury is out on Little as far as I'm concerned. I do like the idea of a big, powerful WR ....... but I am concerned that vhe doesn't seem to have great breakaway speed.

I hope that this is a Heckert pick that works out like most of last year's picks did.


I still think that Norwood is going to be our slot guy this year.

im with you on this. I'll go public with liking the Little pic. I see a tough kid with decent hands. Cleveland used to have attitude and we just drafted three gifted players with some mean in them. Stop with the crying. I swear the new generation of Browns fans would complain if Bellicheck was our coach because he always drops out of round 1 and never takes the stud big name.

He's tall .... but really narrow. He's not incredibly fast ..... can he add weight without losing speed?

One name I haven't seen mentioned who might be a solid pick for us is Chimdi Chekwa. He was projected as a solid 3rd round pick, but slipped. He could be a really solid 3rd CB for us.

He is 6'2 205...He would be a good Center fielder for us..

Scouts will tell you they earn their money on the final day of the draft.


Sometimes it's less about finding that small-school gem or underutilized player from a larger program and more about taking chances on talented players with character, injury or consistency issues.


The Buccaneers found a fourth-round bargain last year in receiver Mike Williams, as did New England in tight end Aaron Hernandez(notes), both of whom had second-round talent but fell because of character concerns.


Iowa's Christian Ballard may be the best available talent on the board due to a positive drug test at the scouting combine and inconsistent play on the field, while injury issues took Eastern Washington speed back Taiwan Jones (always seemingly nicked up) and Indiana teammates tackle James Brewer (foot) and receiver Tandon Doss (groins) out of the running for the top 97 selections.


Building depth through the late rounds is what allows teams to survive injuries to the starters picked in the top 100 over the last handful of drafts. Along with Williams and Hernandez, 10n other fourth-to-seventh round picks started at least half of his team's games in 2010, and many others look as though they will be contributors for quite some time.


The "best of the rest" still waiting to hear their names called at the Radio City Music Hall lectern are listed below by position. Each position is given a grade based on the talent available to teams as they make their decisions on whom to take a chance on late in the proceedings.


Quarterbacks

Grade: Above-Average


It was expected that Iowa's Ricky Stanzi would be the eighth quarterback selected in this draft, but most thought he would hear his name called in the third round. Though his arm strength is average and decision-making is questionable, he has enough size, athleticism and upside to be taken fairly early Saturday. Look for a lot of quarterbacks to be picked in the late rounds, both because there are a lot of intriguing late-round finds available this year and because teams will not be able to sign them to free agent contracts after the draft as in years past because of the lockout.

Tandon Doss' groin injuries concerned scouts, as well. But in the fourth, fifth or sixth round, teams will find a slew of future No. 2 and 3 receivers that help build depth. Returners like Paul, Harris, Jeremy Kerley and Cecil Shorts have a chance to make an impact on special teams while they learn the intricacies of the NFL passing game.

Derek Newton and Byron Stingly have some upside, however, as do small-schoolers David Mims, Johnny Culbreath and Trevis Turner; two of those talented but raw prospects will be thrown into the mix as rookies, just like 2010 seventh-round right tackle J'Marcus Webb(notes) was for the Bears last fall.

Colin McCarthy, Quin Sturdivant, Greg Jones(notes) and Jeff Tarpinian all have a chance to stay inside at the next level in a Tampa-2 or similar system where size is less important than speed to handle coverage in the middle of the field. Teams looking for a 4-3 thumper won't find much here from which to choose.
