Well .... another raw guy with speed.
I think I would have gone with Davon House.

He went to the Packers in the 4th.
I was thinking Brandon Burton. I'm ok with Skrine - he'll be our PR likely and a nickle guy.

I really like this draft too! I agree we just landed 4 day 1 starters. We also are forming an identity finally. We will be a nasty Team, all these guys carry an attitude, swagger about them. Can't say any of these guys are Finesse players..A tight end that runs a 4.53 can block and catch...at 6'5 250..are you kidding me? Can't wait to see Taylor launch Pouncy like a rag doll..
As I see it right now..
QB- McCoy RB-Hillis/Hardesty FB-Marecic WR1- Little WR2-Mo Mass WR3-Robiskie WR4-Mitchell Slot-Norwood TE-Watson/Moore/Jordan LT-Thomas LG-Steinny C-Mack RG-Luavo/Yates RT-Pashos/Womack
LE-Sheard/Mitchell?(FA) DT-Rubin DT-Taylor RE-Benard/Roth?(FA) SAM-Fujita MIKE-Jackson WILL-Gocong CB-Haden CB-Brown Nickel-Wright SS-Ward FS-Elam?(FA)
I will say we need Free Agency to fill out a few spots on the roster..
Mathias Kiwanuka-DE Nnamdi Asomugha-CB

I don't have a problem with picking up a FB

You've got Vickers, best fullback in the league. You've got nobody at wide receiver, You've still got needs at defensive end and linebacker And corner And SAFETY,
YOU CAN'T FIND A SAFETY THAT WOULD CHALLENGE MIKE ADAMS? But you want to replace Vickers????
Ok, Ok you can always get a SAFETY in the FIRST next year? so you can spend more 1st rd money on the db's in the future
not quite ( oh the humanity) but it's on the horizon foresight, forethought, big picture, somebody look at the big picture, somebody look at this roster over a 4 year time, Oh this is frustrating.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Was hoping for Jason Pinkston. But Shrine seems to have some upside. Lucky for us Throw Long is worrying enough for the entire fanfare.

Lucky for us Throw Long is young and doesn't have to worry about blood pressure, or this draft stuff could do him in.

Read my whole post, not just what is convenient to you. Quote:
I don't have a problem with picking up a FB - as a matter of fact, I look forward to seeing he and Hillis in the same backfield. I just figured we had bigger needs and other players rated higher on the board - that was the headscratcher comment.
We picked a WR already and both MoMass and Robo should thrive in the WCO as opposed to whatever the heck Daboll called his offense.
Here's what I posted in another thread about what I wanted today: Quote:
102: Davon House (CB), Brandon Burton (CB), DeAndre McDaniel (FS), Sam Acho (DE), Marcus Cannon (OG), Clint Boling (OG)
124: Anyone around from above, KJ Wright (OLB), Ugo Chinasa (DE), James Brewer (OT), Deunta Williams (FS),
137: Anyone around from above, Mark Herzlich (LB), Derek Newton (OT), Casey Matthews (MLB), Julius Thomas (TE)
Notice safeties, notice cornerbacks. Notice no FB. I am not trying to replace Vickers. I said I'm ok with the pick, just figured there were bigger needs and higher rated players.
I trust Heckert is looking to the future.

I think it was Mayock that mentioned he'd be RT in the NFL, maybe Casserly, can't recall. Regardless, it sounds as if that will be his role.

His cousin Todd Pinkston was a decent player for rthe Eagles. Hopefully Jason will be a solid guy for us.
Seems like a good pick.

He would be a slooooooooowwwwwww MLB.
He runs like a 4.8. No chance. Jauron wants speed .... even from his MLB.

if EITHER him or Lauvao step up this year into the starting role ... then we will be moving forward with the correct pieces to compete long term and potentially solidify the line for a few more years and a half decade.
Don't know if I like trading two 6ths for somewhat of a project tackle ... but I suppose it's not a major loss.
Added a DT, DE, WR, TE, FB/LB, CB/DB, OT, and still have one more left (it could be a quarterback, but maybe we are high on Jarret Brown?) ...
While we aren't completely done, it's nice to know that even if it is somewhat out of need and transition to a new system, that we should have as many as 4 starters, and then 2 immediate backups that could develop into starters within a year or two ...

I really thought that we could have come out of the 4th round with a plus CB and DE .... and instead we got a TE and a FB. I'm very disappointed with that particular round. I range from happy with ( Taylor, Sharrod) to meh ... (Little, Cameron, Marecic, and Skrine) to hopeful. (Pinkston)
I can see the Little pick. He's got great size and physical ability ... so hopefully we can develop him into a star WR. Cameron .... I thought there were much better values there .. but I love that pick compared to the FB pick. That one damn near made me bang my head against the wall for real. The CB is fast ..... but not really anything else. He needs a lot of work too.
It seems like we got really caught up in potential in the later rounds (even the 2nd 2nd round pick, for that matter) .... and as someone far smarter about these things that I am once said: "Potential just means you ain't done a damn thing yet".
I hope this draft works out well. I am concerned though.

I have a few doubts as well. BUT, several things to keep in mind. I felt this was a weak draft class and we have no idea how FA is going to work out. If we get Kiwanuka in FA.. my my..
I think we DID go for future potential. One last thing.. the 1st next year and that extra 4th is going to make a difference.
We cannot make this draft all about this year. While we keep our eye on the ball it's wise to keep the future in mind. We lost a lot of games last year and we had / have a lot of holes.

Well I understand the concern. I suppose this year is a bit different as we will actually have free agency after the draft to fill in a "need" at either safety or dend or whatever ...
But I think a lot of this draft was designed to bring in the core players that we can use for years. I don't think any of the picks were "sexy," but we still managed to bring in 8 (7 plus the upcoming) cleveland browns... while also managing to secure 2 more picks for next year.
Do we need impact and flash? What team doesn't? But I think it's more important to put the foundation into place that we can move forward with, and I won't love or hate any of the picks until we see what they actually do in the nfl.
I'm not really worried or disappointed either because what were our needs coming into the draft?
Offense: WR? Tried to address it. OT? Tried to address it. Some sort of back to spell Hillis because we don't trust hardesty? Tried to address it.
Defense: Defensive line? Tried to address it. Twice. Cornerback? Tried to address it. Safety? Nothing (yet). Linebacker? Nothing (yet).
We also added in a Tight End that has a lot of potential. And we still have one more pick. Not exactly any big names ... but if we were only after big names we would have taken Taylor Mays over TJ Ward ... and would have traded up for Colt McCoy in the early second as well. I just don't think that this regime is going to satisfy anyone if we only pay attention to the name and starpower of a pick.

With a 37 ft verticle, I woulda thought Skrine would be a 1st rounder we should block some kicks this year. thanks for the info, its been hard to find the list.

Apparently I'm in the dark about vickers. So we are going to let him go? Correct if I'm wrong, but he is one of our best players on offense.
Are we gonna let him go because he can't catch/fit into th WC offense?
