When ESPN started in 1979, we were the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (thus, ESPN). However, the full name was dropped in February 1985 when the company adopted a new corporate name --- ESPN, Inc - and a new logo. Based in Bristol, CT., ESPN is 80 percent owned by ABC, Inc., which is an indirect subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. The Hearst Corporation holds the remaining 20 percent interest in ESPN.

My first time to watch Mayock and I enjoyed him. The three day set up is awkward at best. Didn't care for ESPN because of their jaw lag. Browns pick is in and announce beneath and they are still yammering about a pick three and four earlier. The Saturday was wretched. The spots with all the interview and chatter with other non-draft content stunk. I want to see more of players and highlights. Kiper needs an egg timer. Berman didn't sparkle either for my money. I though we had the strongest draft in quite some time if they play as promised. I think we got younger and I think we got better (average and adequate or above).

Every year I watch the draft, and every year I scream at the TV because somebody is rambling on and on about what happened earlier or the day before while they ignore who is being drafted NOW. Lord I wish they could just focus on the last player picked with comment and video of him, then move onto the next player. you can do your damn recap's and evaluations after the draft is over.

I wouldn't mind the recaps if they first showed the video of the player just chosen and then did a draft recap for the team on the clock (so we could get a quick reminder of who they picked and what they need).

In a society where people yell "Hurry up" at the microwave... and where people take pictures, then the same day pay extra to have them developed in an hour?

I also don't like the phone call thing. Takes away from the process to me. Don't like the time between being told who the picks are in the later rounds, not that I am a hurry up person, but when the pick is in don't take 5 mins to give us the name. Just my 2 cents.

But we could wait forever to hear from some old retired coach about what he had for lunch yesterday  We are watching the Draft and I would like to really see video and comments on the player drafted. Not hear somebody ramble on about everything but the draft. They can do that anytime.

All I want from the draft show is for them to not tip picks (like the phone calls) and to talk about the player who just got picked. I don't care about who they picked yesterday; talk about this guy.

Unfortunately, the casual fan would rather hear about the superstar QB taken at #1 overall than the (soon to be) backup RB who might sniff the field on special teams taken in the 6th round.
The hardcore fans will sit and watch no matter what they do. It's the casual fans whose attention they are trying to capture.

Not really. The casual fan tunes in once in a while to see what their team has done. They may want to catch up on the highlights of the draft.
I doubt that many casual fans watch the whole thing ..... but many probably tune in when they think that their team might be on the clock. They probably dont care to hear about the 2nd string guy from S Florida A&M who some team not even in their conference drafted.

I'm sure they do, but they don't have to deal with the "message board draft guy" and others that think they know it all about everything by reading it in the paper. It's hard enough to deal with as a guy that's been coming to the board for years, I'm sure it's not fun at all for "casual fan guy".
Bottom line, and most everyone seems to agree with this, get rid of the cameras in the back room. Personally, I couldn't care less about seeing a young man cry with his family - show him walking onto the stage and holding up the jersey and move on.

Well, yes, they could do that haha. I guess the internet really is a big place and they don't have to go to a message board for their info.
Between the TV scroll going 24/7 and the internet, the casual fan can keep up like anyone else by only paying attention for a few minutes.

I personnaly think they should just hold the draft at hooters / commisioner calls thier name they walk up on a small stage grab thier hat hold thier jersey and walk back to thier table with a plate of wings, works for me.
