I have to agree, completely.

In any normal year, every unsigned rookie would be off working out at some professional training facility, or back home at their high school, or wherever to keep themselves primed and ready.

This is absolutely no different, but has the added benefit of getting players not only up to speed with the playbooks, but getting them on the same page as their teammates (kinda important for a WR & QB in a WCO).

The kid needs someone to send him a wake up call so that he gets his butt over to wherever Colt happens to be hanging out.

Am I serious??. I think you need to ask yourself that question.

Really man, you are wasting my time.

If you don't think a guy who isn't signed and gets hurt isn't going to have a hard time at the contract table, you're as dumb as a stump.

I am sure we would still try to sign him, but it would a lowball offer and one we could stick with....look what we did with Jackson.

Answer me this: Are you just talking goofy, or are you???

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

CLEVELAND -- Browns rookie receiver Greg Little will attend Camp Colt III next week in Texas and intends to participate in all the on-field drills.

"Personally, I'm a competitor,'' said Little in a phone interview. "I'm not really worried about injury.''

Little's agent, Andy Ross, had said he'd advise his client to focus mainly on the weight training, film study and off-field activities because he's not yet under contract and has no injury protection.

"It's Andy's job to give me advise, but at the end of the day it's still my decision and I will probably choose to take part in everything,'' said Little, the Browns' second-round pick out of North Carolina. "I think my teammates will take notice of that. They don't to injure themselves either, but they're out there doing the drills.''

Little, who sat out all last season for accepting impermissible agent benefits, said he regretted he couldn't attend Camp Colt II last month at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea because of a prior commitment.

"I was disappointed,'' he said. "Some things came up and I got notice of the workouts relatively abruptly so I wasn't able to plan accordingly.''

Little said he's looking forward to getting his timing down with quarterback Colt McCoy, who's hosting the third session at the University of Texas June 9-11. The first camp, in late April, was also held there.

"I think it's very important for me to start working with Colt,'' said Little. "We've been talking and we're very eager about getting together. I texted Colt right after the draft and he quickly responded. I think he's very excited to have me.''

Little, who caught 62 passes for 724 yards and five TDs in 2009, said he's been impressed with McCoy taking charge during the lockout, organizing the three offensive skills camps.

"He's a great leader,'' said Little. "He showed that last year and he's shown that all throughout his career. Colt does that very naturally and I think that's one of the great attributes about him.''

He said he's just as excited about getting to know his teammates as he is to learn the Browns new West Coast offense.

"I think it will be fun,'' said Little. "I'm pretty sure Colt has a whole itinerary of Texas things to do. It's a great time for guys not only to get their conditioning up, but to bond and get the camaraderie going. I think that's very important to becoming a successful team.''

Little, who has a chance to become the Browns' No. 1 receiver, already knows current No. 1 Mohamed Massaquoi, a fellow North Carolina native.

"He actually hosted me on an unofficial visit to Georgia when I was down there as a junior going into my senior year,'' said Little. "He was somebody that I connected with, because we strive for the same things on and off the field.''

Little is also tight with Browns cornerback Joe Haden.

"Joe and I have been to so many high school camps together and we became really great friends when we were on the college circuit together getting recruited,'' said Little. "We have a lot of friends in common and it was kind of funny that I'm coming to Cleveland too. It will be really great to go against him in practice really push each other to be better.''

Little hopes to make the same kind of impact as a rookie that Haden did. Despite starting only seven games, Haden became a Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist and finished tied for fifth in the NFL with a team-high six interceptions.

"I don't like to make empty promises, but I'm going to work just as hard as he did and hopefully things do turn out that way,'' said Little.

Little hasn't gotten a glimpse of the Browns playbook yet, but hopes to get some materials from McCoy in Texas.

"The good thing is, my offense in college was very, very similar to the Browns' and I think that's one of the reasons they drafted me,'' he said. "I was able to sit down with my receivers coach in Cleveland pre-draft and they feel very confident in my ability to come in and pick things up. It also gives me confidence to go into a situation I'm familiar with.''

Little said he's also eager to work with fellow rookies Owen Marecic and Jordan Cameron. He's alread gotten to know Cameron, the tight end from USC.

"I spent some time with him at the Combine and I think he's a guy that loves to work,'' said Little. "He loves to play as well. It's a great group of guys on this team in general. I think we'll all jell together because we're all working toward one common goal and we'll do whatever it takes to get there.''

Little said he's not looking at Camp Colt III as a chance to knock off the rust from his year off.''

"I spent some time practicing up until October of last season, so it hasn't been as long as everybody thinks,'' he said. "Ultimately it's something that you just don't lose in a year. Think of all the veteran guys that come off suspensions and they have that eagerness to prove and that determination to prove they still can play. I have the same mindset.''

I agree. WAY too casual; ought to be busting to get reps now. If he thinks a partial year of spotty skills is all it takes for the Bigs, he needs a couple swift kicks. Colt needs him, but he will need Colt-time more. Any part of the learning curve and chemistry is a plus. Wake up, dunce..

not sure if I was considered in the 'bashing' group (here was my opinion)

Quote:

He noted that he will be at the 2nd camp, but not practicing (just participating in the off the field stuff).

I am saying that if he is there, he should be practicing. I don't think it's any more risky than the normal workout stuff he is doing but has more tangible benefits for when playing resumes. That is all.

So, good for him coming to this realization as well and not just blindly listening to his agent

His agent is there to protect him as well as protect the agents cut of the deal. So he's going to error on the side of caution almost everytime.

The advice his agent gave him was good, but in this sound bite world, it came off weak to some of the Browns Fans out there. I understand it.

If I were him I wouldn't touch the field and I wouldn't talk to reporters. I would certainly take a copy of the playbook and maybe show up for some side line/ weight room stuff but we're all are just selfish fans that want our team to be good, to hell with the individuals. This kid is going to get 1 serious contract in the NFL, then maybe another 1 or 2 as the contracts expire over the years. If he goes into his 1st contract negotiation with a blown acl/mcl/etc etc it's the it could mean the difference between him taking care of his family for the rest of his life versus working through an injury and an "incentive rich" contract on a bad team for 5 years to earn a hopefully decent contact 2nd contract or maybe just having to come up with plan B at 25 yrs old. And don't give me the "they're all so rich" or "what's wrong with having to work later in life" routine, this right here is plan A. You DON'T screw up the plan A you've been knocking yourself out over for half your life. Fans are so fickle and TMZ about all this "he said/she said, he seems so blah blah blah" crap. If he knows what's good for him he'll smile, grow a thick skin to the whining Browns faithful, work his ass off but be smart about it, shut his mouth and leave it all on the field AFTER the contract is signed. If he's good, we'll forgive. As a Browns fan 2nd and human being 1st I'd advise him of this EVERY time.
