Almost got Purke, he was picked 1 spot above the Indians in the 3rd. That would have been a real steal.

so, a high ceiling HS-SS and a Boras-HS RHP. don’t know much about "Mark" Lowery (C-James Madison) or Jake Sisco(RHP – Merced Color), but hopefully our FO is prepared to put $10mil+ into this draft (it seems like it as Merced is the only). Will Roberts, RHP, UVa apparently was picked shortly ago as well. here’s a funny note: indians.com has him listed as Mark lowery which I referred to above. too bad his name is Jake Lowery according to everywhere else. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/mlb/eve...t=TM&fv=clethis is worse than calling Cam Jordan when the Browns wanted Jordan Cameron.

Hey guys, I figured out how to fix the offense. What if we released Wes Hodges so we could sign Nick Johnson (yes, THAT Nick Johnson) to a AAA deal where-in to hope he somehow regains his form from offseason wrist-surgery and helps out the team down the stretch? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6635722

I think we need a player, or someone on this board, to take one for the team and find a slumpbuster of some kind. This losing streak is getting ridiculous.

1-0 good guys. Way to break the streak, even if it was against the lowly Twins. Finish off the series strong!

Kinda funny ....... I am a big Star Trek fan ..... and on Star Trek Deep Space Nine, there is a character named Jake Sisko. lol Glad to see the Tribe pitching return to something resembling normal. Carasco had a great game. We still need to get the hitting going. We could really, really use a right handed power bat.I thought that our hitting might be OK earlier in the year, but I was wrong. We really do need another right handed power bat, even when Hafner returns to the everyday lineup at DH.

Cord Phelps called up from AAA...Shelley Duncan optioned to Columbus and Alex White moved to 60-day DL.
Jesus...Austin Kearns has more lives than a cat or pictures of Manny Acta....

I think I read that it's right around .500.

Here's the article on Phelps .... http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2011/06/cord_phelps_to_make_major-leag.htmlCord Phelps to make major-league debut at second base for Indians today Published: Wednesday, June 08, 2011, 9:41 AM Updated: Wednesday, June 08, 2011, 10:01 AM By Dennis Manoloff, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- As of 9 a.m. today, newest Indian Cord Phelps had not been told what his role would be going forward. All Phelps knew is, he would be starting at second base and batting seventh when the Indians play host to the Twins at 12:05 p.m. He makes his major-league debut. Phelps, 24, was promoted from Class AAA Columbus, where he was hitting .299 in 55 games. "It's pretty amazing,'' Phelps said. "Obviously, it's something you dream about for a long time. I didn't really expect this; you just keep your head down, play ball and hopefully something good will happen.'' Phelps needed to be added to the 40-man roster. To make room, the Indians optioned Shelley Duncan, who hit .222 in 29 games, to Columbus and transferred righty Alex White from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list. Duncan is well-respected in the clubhouse but had not been swinging the bat well recently and had options. Closer Chris Perez tweeted: "Sad to hear the news about Shelley Duncan, great teammate.'' In Tuesday's 1-0 victory over the Twins, Duncan drove in the run with a grounder. Phelps was told he is coming to Cleveland after the Clippers' 5-1 victory over Rochester on Tuesday night in Columbus. He arrived in town about 2 a.m. and checked into a hotel. "I haven't gotten much sleep,'' he said, "but I don't think it's going to be a problem. I'll rely on adrenaline to carry me.'' Phelps, a switch-hitter, was in a 5-for-27 slide at the time of the promotion. "It's one of those ups and downs that happen in baseball,'' he said. Phelps was drafted as a second baseman out of Stanford in the third round in 2008. He has played predominantly shortstop for the Clippers this season because Jason Kipnis is at second and Lonnie Chisenhall is at third. Phelps also has played second and third and been the designated hitter. Phelps admitted he is nervous. "But nerves are a good thing,'' Phelps said. "There's would be something wrong if I didn't have any.'' Among the first to greet Phelps in the clubhouse were Indians General Manager Chris Antonetti and second baseman Orlando Cabrera. Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a double Tuesday but has been struggling, especially against righties. Indians manager Manny Acta is scheduled to meet with reporters at 11 a.m. to discuss the Phelps/Duncan decision.

Hannahan hits a dinger with 2 outs in the ninth to tie it up. Unreal.

This one is going to hurt. We should have swept Minne and at least split with Toronto. Going 1-6 on this homestand is horrible.

Choo has a chance to tie it up here. He really needs this.

He grounded out to the pitcher. Ugh. And the slide continues.

I thought we would go into a slump, I just thought it would start with the Reds series.

1st time I've posted on a Tribe thread this season, up til now I didn't want to jinx the hot start.... I had guessed they'd end up about 3 or 4 games over .500, and near the bottom of the division. Then the surprising April made us hope the magic was back, with the pitching, hitting and fielding at or near the top of the league. Take a look at the stats now, all of those things are exactly what's failing this team and there's no quick fix coming any time soon. Apprently, Choo was playing his arse off last year to keep it out of a Korean Army uni....now that he's safe his motivation has been redirected to a bar stool.
I can't imagine management making any moves to stem the tide either, though it would send a good message to the fans that they're not going to sit back and watch a promising start fade into the summer heat.
So anyway, sorry for the rant but I'm more than a little ticked off right now

Duncan had an option & Kearns' contract is guaranteed. That would be my guess.
And nologo, Nick Johnson was signed in spring training but has been in extended spring training.
Joe Thomas made Justin Timberlake change his name. He didn't want wusses to have the same initials...
