Yeah but what if he came to his senses, realized what he had, and was truly sorry, with a new drive for winning for cleveland.

and he was sincere about all of it? you'd take him back.

Again - I'm an outsider, so to speak, as far as the NBA. I follow the Cav's because they are a Cleveland team. lebron made his choice - he opted to go "primetime" and get a ring somewhere else. I hope he never gets it.

As for him apologizing and going back to the cav's? I wouldn't want him back. Not today - not if he begged. Not tomorrow - not in 5 years. He dumped my "second" home town - for the riches of a ring. He apparently felt he couldn't do it here - so screw him..

The Cav's, and Cleveland - don't need him. And, I don't want him come hell or high water. If he bucks up and takes charge - the cav's won the ring last year. He's a great athlete, but he's a second fiddle player.

I think he could end up back in Cleveland. They all did put early termination options in their deals. They also all did take less money.

I wouldn't bet on it though. I don't feel that confident, but it wouldn't shock me.

Too many hurdles with the shattered relationship of gilbert and lebron, as well as the fanbase between lbj and the city.

They didn't really take less money. The million less they took per year is made up in the lack of state income tax in Florida, and because they did sign-and-trades, they got the 6-year contracts that they could only get from a team who had the Bird rights. So really, they got the best of both worlds: "leave" in free agency but get the max deal you could only get had you stayed.

Good point Adam.....Fla is one of maybe 6 states that doesn't have a state income tax.

42 games he is tax free from the state level..

No, it would've been a little over $17 for the first year. His deal is approximately $18.3 million per year averaged out ($110 million over 6 years). His contract will end up being about $15 million shy of what a max deal would've paid. However, Ohio state income tax is 5.9% of everything over $200k, plus $9000 (approximately). So, roughly, $17 million x 5.9% is right around a million bucks. Over six years that's $6 million that he gets by being paid in Florida as opposed to Ohio. Now, I believe that there other things at play, because I think that if he plays in a state with state income tax he has to pay taxes for working in that state, but he plays 41 games in Miami, 2 in Orlando, and 3 in the state of Texas (also no state income tax) each season, so 56% of his games are played in a state with no state income tax.

I have no idea if he pays taxes on the income from his endorsement deals, but if he doesn't thats a significant gain as well.

Long story short, he didn't sacrifice nearly as much financially as his apologists say he did.

I know a guy at work who travels here every week from Boston and he is good friends with a guy who has done account work with the bruins and celts. He told me that these guys actually have to pay taxes for every state that they play in. Whatever road game you travel to you have to pay state taxes for that. So I think that entire thing with FL not having a state income tax isn't entirely true. I bet they still save an assload of money, but I don't think lbj left cleveland soley because of state income tax.

although you could also argue that he made up the money he lost in cleveland from the decision, i'm pretty sure he pocketed a few million from that.

Right, thats what I was saying above. Miami play 46 of 82 games in states with no state income tax (41 in Miami, 2 in Orlando, and 3 in Texas). Obviously that's not the reason he went to Miami. It's just often not considered (probably intentionally) by those who laud him for the "great financial sacrifice" he made by going to Miami.

I also wanted to ask you guys. Who are your top 3 for who might have been that anonymous free agent from last offseason, who said they were put off by the way "King" james texted them about playing together?

If you didn't hear the quote, it's been out there all week. Just that a guy who didn't want his identity revealed, got a text from king james about playing together, even going so far as saying "hey it's king james" the guy was really put off and asking if michael jordan would have done that by saying "hey, it's air mike" pretty funny.

I wanted to put shaq, i know he came out and said to wade and lebron to go get that ring, but that means nothing to me. I just don't think lbj would have wanted him to come over, considering we got very little out of him in cleveland.

My guess is that it was a big man or a sharp shooter. Something the team lacked at the time and still kinda does.

Just clicking about the LeBron "back to Cleveland" thing...

I want no part of him ever being a Cavalier again, I don't care what imaginary thoughts he may have in the future.

The man can go to hell.

GO CAVS.

Lol...31 free throws for Miami and 12 for Dallas with 9 to go. I think someone predicted this earlier in the thread. Thankfully Miami isn't hitting them. Go Cavs!

His ego is 8000 times too big to ever admit that what he did was a mistake... and as a result of that he'd go to the Toronoto or the Clippers before he went back to Cleveland...

The Miami Heat ... the 1st team EVER to lose a 7 game series after winning game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead.

I don't usually cheer for a team that isn't my team ...... but I've been cheering my ass off for the Mavs!

LeBum and Wade ..... CHOKE!

Dirk left the floor before the buzzer ran out haha.

Do you think Erik Spoelstra tells the media that there are some Heat players crying in the locker room right now?

I must admit, I took great pleasure in seeing Lebum run down that hallway crying. The decision, his comments, making fun of DN, etc.......all came back to bite him in the arse.

How nice is it that the Heat have to watch the Championship ceremony for the Mavs ..... on the Heat's home court.

congrats to Cavs fans. Most sports fans who cares about this sort of thing probably likes to see the stacked team take a beatdown. LOL, on home court to boot.

Jaosn Kidd at age 38, and getting his first NBA title is a pretty cool story.

What goes around comes around Heat. You guys deserved to lose the game, especially you know who. That would be absolutely hilarious if the Cavs won the title next year before LeBum.

That is kind of a back-story .... the triumph of Team over All Stars.

What player would you go after on the Mavs, other than Nowitzki? I wouldn't pursue anyone. However ... and this is BIG ...... the Mavs All Star put the team on his back and led them to a championship. LeBum couldn;t do that in any series in his entire career ..... and he certainly never played against a team with as much overall talent as the Heat.

I am really starting to think that he is over-rated. He's great in the regular season ..... then seems to collapse in the playoffs when he has pressure on him.

James only had 14 points going into the 4th when they had a chance. He made half of his shots in the 4th ..... and wound up with 21. (same as Nowitzki) Nowitzki was just on TV apologizing to his teammates for not playing as well as he could have tonight. lol Dirk had 12 in the 4th though. He turned it on when it was time to win. LeBum disappeared.

not just kidd, but marion, terry, dirk, all those guys paid their dues.

twitter and fb are BLOWING UP right now. I haven't seen this much movement since the decision, not even osama getting killed drew this much craziness on the social networks.

my favorite tweet was from some guy who said he thought you needed more than 1 superstar to win a title.

I've never been a basketball fan and this year was my first time ever watching the finals, I must admit it was simply because I wanted to see James lose. Terry and Kidd played great tonight and Dirk showed up in the 4th. Wade's a heck of a player as well but the hype is bigger than the talent with James, especially in the 4th. When it's on the line, he's a no-show.

I think Lebron left Cleveland because he didn't think he could do it without 1 or 2 superstars alongside him, but in the process, lost his drive when the burden is shouldered.

Seriously, all hate and bitterness aside, that guy played like garbage in a time where you are supposed to live up to your own hype. I rooted for the Mavs like everyone else, and it became evident after halftime that when he got the ball, I wasn't that concerned.

They honestly thought it'd be easy. When they did that stupid intro the day after the decision, and when they shredded the top seeded bulls, they just reaffirmed themselves, that it'd be easy.

The Sixers were a below average team, the Celtics were old, beat up, and had a ton of miles on them after playing all the way to game 7 of the finals last year. The Bulls were nothing more than champs of the regular season. They played no one until they reached the Finals. Had Lebron stayed, they might have gotten there just the same but with a better "team"

It is what it is.

Dan Gilbert's promise to win a Championship before LeWho and the Miami Heat does is still alive!

The Cavs are better off without the 'Choke Artist' on the team.

They're better off without this current version of Lebron.

But give me 2007-2008 Lebron anyday. Nobody knows where that guy is right now. He wasn't there in this series.

Dirk sticks it out in Dallas, through thick and thin and he gets his title before LeBron.

Gotta feel good about it, just as a sports fan in general. The best TEAM wins, as it should be.

Great win for the Mavs.....soooo glad to see the rings go to the real players who actually deserve them....

Jason Kidd---dude has always been str8 class, does all the right things, came up short a few times---good to see him get a championship.

Dirk, Terry---long-time Mavs deserve this win....

Hell, its good to see Marion and even Peja get rings.....

And as much as people hate Mark Cuban---I love dude's enthusiasm. I love the fact that he sits down with the fans---passionate about the team.

And on the flipside---screw you Lebron. LbJ and the Super Best Friends came up short--and I hope it happens again and again.

Would you go after Chandler at all costs ..... like the Heat did James and Bosh?

I wouldn't.

He's a quality player ..... but not a great player.

Nowitzke is the Mavs great player. Terry really turned it on this series, but is largely a "decent" player. The rest are largely replacable.

I thought that it was funny that the announcers were altready starting to break up the Heat ..... talking about how they might be able to trade one of their big 3 to create a more balanced team. lol

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Heat traded James because he was deemed the most expendable?
