Wow Ytown,, I don't want to offend you as I consider you a good guy and an online friend.. But I just don't remember anything like this coming from Stover..
I was a pretty vocal guy,, you may remember that not long before the move was announced, AOL was growing like crazy.. the internet explosion was happening.
I remember finding email addresses for each owner, the NFL, Sports news outlets etc. I remember writing one email/letter after another and sending them to anyone I thought might help. I included politicians even though I had little hope of getting anymore than lip service..
Any place I didn't have email addresses for, I faxed those letters too.
So I was paying a great deal of attention to all the latest news of the day.
For whatever reason, I have no recollection at all of anything that Stover said. To be fair, I can't remember any comments any player said. Not sure why that is..
I'm not saying you are wrong, not at all, but I just don't recall those comments from Stover..

I always thought Stover liked being a Brown. If you noticed he missed his fair share of first half kicks vs the Browns while wearing the Raven uniform.
He could be really reliable against other teams but was always good for at least a beneficial miss vs the Browns when he was on the Ravens.
If he was kind of helping the Browns out by conveintly pulling a kick wide here or there, I always was happy about that.
Everytime he came up to kick, I thought deep down he was a closet Browns fan and was going to help the Browns out. His retirement would have been more consequential if he were still playing last year.
Thanks to the beauty of high speed internet it only takes a few minutes to show that you are in dire need of a laxative because you are so full of crap.
1999- 3/3 2000- 7/8 (Balt won 12-0 in game he missed) 2001- 3/3 2002- 6/6 2003- 3/5 (Balt won 33-13 & 35-0) 2004- 5/5 2006- 5/5 2007- 5/7 (Cleve won 27-13) 2008- 3/4 (Balt won 28-10)
I didn't look if they were first half misses, but he rarely did miss against us and they were ABSOLUTELY not consequential in any outcome. The guy was obviously doing his job for his team and to think a guy would shank kicks to give his old team an edge is ludicrous.
When Art Modell moved the team to Baltimore in 1996, Stover moved with it. For 13 seasons, Stover kicked for the Ravens, often tormenting the Browns with multiple-field goal games. Frequently, Stover's field goals were the extent of Baltimore's scoring.
During that time, Stover scored more points against the Browns than against any other team. When the Ravens won the Super Bowl following the 2000 season, the first person Stover hugged was Modell. web page
Wow.....That's just pretty much shock and awe smack down there.

Do you remember Andre Rison's fine comments to the people of Cleveland?
Anyway .... I'm going to drop this now. I've said my piece.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

No, not really.. Rison was kind of a dog anyway so comments from him really wouldn't have registered with me anyway,.
I can tell you seem a little offended and I"m sorry.. I didn't mean to do that to you.,
But I did do some searching (not a lot) and found nothing about Stover beating on fans

if he did, he's mellowed out with age: http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2010/02/the_colts_matt_stover_has_many.html
Like I said, I don't remember him being tough on Browns fans at all.. But Ytown could be right, I don't have the best memory for things like this.,.

From the article Quote:
In jumping to the Colts, Stover drew the wrath of some fans in Baltimore, who still have harsh feelings about the franchise that deserted their city in 1983.
These fans irritate me to no end. The best analogy I can think of is a man whose wife was raped, so he rapes another women. Then he cries that his wife was raped while saying that raping the other woman was OK.
