Saw it last night.
While it was nice to hear his words on Colt, there wasn't much we hadn't heard before. The next season or three will tell us a lot about Colt as an NFL quarterback.

BTW, I enjoy Mangini as a broadcaster.

I really like Coach Mangini. He had/has the potential to be great. I think his indecision really held him back. I wish the best for him.

I think he's another guy who has great strategy to build a philosophy, character and discipline into a team, but he CANNOT draft well. He really needed a GM and basically someone to appoint his coaching staff for him...especially when it came to offense.

You do realize that Mangini's OC was immediately hired by another team ....... and that we kept his TE, OL, and RB coaches ......

His WR coach was immediately hired by Miami. (college)

We also kept his DB coach.

Further, his offensive staff in New York was kept almost entirely intact ...... and Schottemheimer is still their OC to this day.

Sounds to me like he did a fairly decent job of finding quality offensive coaches.

Brian Daboll was Mangini's worst hire here in Cleveland.

BD had never been an OC at any level of football (hs, college, pros) before Mangini hired him as the Browns OC. Mangini handed over the responsibility for implementing a NFL caliber offense over to a "rookie OC" who had no previous OC experience.

Adding to the situation, Mangini is a defensive minded coach, which means Daboll for the most part, was on his own.

Had Mangini hired an OC who had previous experience as an OC with a degree of success at the NFL level, Mangini may very well, still be the Browns HC.

I realize "some team" has to be a future OCs "first"...but why the Browns?

WHY?....because Mangini wanted him.

Also, the fact that Brian Daboll was hired by the Dolphins, is meaningless at this point. He has yet to devise one game plan for the Dolphins or do any coaching.

Matter of fact, Daboll has not gotten off to a good start at Miami. If I'm not mistaken, during the 2 day period that the lockout was "stayed" by Judge Nelson, when coaches were allowed to contact the players and distribute coaching material, the Dolphins failed to get any playbooks out to the players.

Now Daboll might be ok as the Dolphins OC and it sure does not hurt that he has an offensive minded HC in Tony Sparano, to help him out. After all, Daboll did get his "first" experience at the expense of the Browns.

Yeah .... talent had nothing to do with his success/failure in Cleveland.

It will be very interesting to see how he does in Miami this season.

For what it's worth, I think that McDonald (WR) was Mangini's worst hire ..... but the lack of an experienced, veteran WR was the biggest problem with the offense. I think that the playcalling would have "suddenly" been much better with a veteran WR to help nthe other WRs know how to do their jobs.

The WR coach we had, just looked over his head from the beginning.

Maybe Daboll can turn things around in Miami but he was awful for the Browns. Play selection, use of personnel was awful. The only thing I did like about Daboll was his first 10-15 scripted plays to start a game, excellent. just so many of his calls made no freaking sense. Some of his run design's I thought were fantastic as well but again, there was just crazy decisions being made on the O side of the ball that just came across as foolish.

Hagen imho was the mvp of our coaching staff. Ben Watson looked rejuvenated. The kicker was guys like Estandia or however u spell it coming in and being effective with their blocking and showing good hands.

I know our OL coach has like 30 years of pro experience and is well respected but I wasn't blown away by anything he did. I guess St. Claire at RT over Womack just killed any enthusiasm I may have had for our decision making on the line. Funny though first decision Heckert made when the season was over was dumping St. Claire so maybe he was a Dumball or Mangini decision.

I think Romeo's O Staff with Chud and his crew were the best on O we have had. Gini's D crew was really good and arguably the best although I did like Butch's last crew but that team had given up and no amount of coaching was going to improve them.

Right now on paper this D staff looks outstanding. O staff will be a wait and see.

Thanks for the link,,,

Pretty much confirms what most of us saw in Colt.. something to build on maybe, but certainly someone to give more time to.

Blame the Coach when the front office makes the preposterous determination the worst set of wrs in the entire NFL needed no help.

Also he was predictable as hell. yet vs the Pats and saints and Jets the browns were creative. after the onside kick vs the Jets failed it was the last creative call for the season.

No disagreement here.

St, Eclair stunk so bad and the oline looked better whenever he was on the bench...yet we rarely gave the mummy any help with a TE on his side so That was coaching!

WE lost an outstanding DC to go with "by the Book" jauron and we are going to get pummelled with that book. Also cutting St. Eclair then "pencilling in The Mummy 2( Tony Pashos) out to keep our QBs in protective boots all season( way to pass up gabe carimi).
