Good thing it didn't happen last inning or we would be hearing how the ump won the game for us with a blown strike call against Renteria.

Tony Sipp is an absolute scrub, i have no idea why he gets so much work

LOL Sipp has one of the best ERAs of all relievers in all of MLB. I am a bit worried about bringing Durbin in here .......

Going to the bottom of the 9th .... good guys up 3-1, Vinnie Pestano coming in to try and get his 1st Major League save. (Chris Perez is away on bereavement leave after the passing of his grandmother)

Nice job by Pestano for the save!
2nd save by Pestano, I forgot that he had one last year too.

The Reds are now in 4th place. The Pirates have passed them in the standings today. I am kinda worried about one thing though. The Reds really worked our bullpen hard today. It's vital that we get a quality start tomorrow or we could be in massive trouble with the Yankees and Blue Jays coming in next. San Francisco is trying to help us out .... up 5-0 on the Tigers in the 2nd.

Don't know why you would make the surprised face, other than lame smack, the Reds aren't very good this year. Nothing surprising about it. I wouldn't get real excited about beating the Reds this year. They will be in the same place the Indians will be come playoff time....home on the couch.

Actually you guys have a lot of really good hitting. You've scored the 3rd most runs in all of MLB this year.
Pitching has really been your struggle this year. Haven't injuries played a part for that though?

I don't know about the rest of you but listening to Thom Brenneman and Mark Grace call the game was a breath of fresh air compared to Matt Underwood. They added more insight to the game on both sides. Underwood makes me wish John Sanders was back in the playoff booth with Rick Manning. He just sucks.

We have good broadcasters for the Reds...Thom & Marty Brenneman are two very good ones.

Yeah and the stats lie in this case, the offense has had some very good games but more bad ones. It's been very inconsistent.
I would be willing to bet the Reds lead in the runners left on base category.

I, for one, am glad that you left as many as you did today. lol Whew.
We're well acquainted with the concept of leaving a small village, as they say, on base. It seemed like we had a stretch of like 10 games where we didn't have a single base hit with a runner in scoring position.

Minor Leaguers in any NL or AL/NL Minor League game? No.
Japan does ..... Yea. BFD.
The DH is here to stay, and it's time to have the rule applied consistently throughout the leagues.
I'm sorry...I like the game the way it was made, and not altered to let lames sit on the bench when it is their turn to bat and to let some fat ass bat when he can't play the field. I like the strategy involved. I like the fact that it makes sense.

That ain't the point...
The point is...Keep it consistent between leagues if you're gonna do this Inter-League BS...
The comparison isn't even close when it comes to AL vs NL pitchers hitting...Either ALL pitchers hit or all teams go the DH route...It's assenine and always has been to have a split league yet still do the Inter-League play...
Go Browns!!!

Agree - until the DH issue is resolved, there shouldn't be any interleague play. The whole Indians-Reds / Indians-Pirates "rivalry" is kinda contrived anyway, IMO. Its just MLB trying to cash in on the corresponding NFL rivalries that existed for years.
As much as I like seeing a place in the game for older guys whose legs are gone - Rico Carty comes to mind, because he could barely walk to the plate but he would hit lasers all over (and out of) the park - the fact remains that the game was designed with one rule in mind: you have to earn your "ups" in the field. And or those who say its boring to watch a pitcher hit, I would remind them that there have been a lot of pitchers in baseball history who were good hitters. We saw it as recently as a couple years ago when CC was hitting homers in IL play, and as long ago as when Bob Lemon was one of our aces who (according to my father) pinch hit quite often on days he wasn't pitching. I can recall seeing pitchers like Jim Perry, Mudcat Grant, Sam McDowell, Sonny Siebert, and others get an edge over the opposing pitcher by helping their own cause at the plate.
One of three things needs to happen: 1. Eliminate interleague play, except for the World Series. 2. Eliminate the DH. (my choice) 3. Make the DH universal.

Indians take a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a 2 run shot off the bat of ...... Shelly Duncan? Chisenhall was on ahead of him. Man I like the way that Chisenhall has approached his at bats since he came up.

it's an absolute joke that Cabrera isn't starting this game and it shows what a sham the all star game and the process is.
Thanks Selig and thanks FOX. Epic fail.

Edit - whoops, reading comprehension is bad today. Totally agree that Asdrubal should start.
3 runs already, we're on fire today.

Well ... so much for the lead. Anyway ..... the All Star game is a popularity contest. Personally I think that it is idiotic to award home field advantage in the World Series based upon how teams that were largely fan picked perform.

Man, Talbot just does not look like he has it today .... and he really needs to. The bullpen can't take another 5 or 6 innings today.

Ugh. Looks like the Reds will get game 6 of this matchup. Talbot is throwing batting practice ...... and they really can't afford to pull Talbot. Long, long fly out ......

Could be. I have the game on the radio so I can't say for sure.
There is that old saying though .... "Never make the first or third out at third base."

Very close play. I, of course, think he was safe. Dang, they went to the bullpen already.

Man, Asdrubal Cabrera has really struggled against the Reds this weekend.
So has Sizemore, but if they are going to get back in this it must start now.
