let's start with the latter. one of my favorite stories for my boys, but I put a LeBron-twist on it.
Lebron wants a teammate with a NBA MVP maybe, perhaps, he would like to have three
I want him to have them. He'll get them for free...
...if he'll wait till the First of Octember
LeBron, when the season is done, wants the ring though there can only be one
I want him to get it cuz right now he has none...
...if he'll wait till the First of Octember
LeBron, just say what you want want CP3's? want Kobe and Dwight and championships with ease?
LeBron, just say what you want and whatever you say, you get on Octember the First what a day
When Octember comes round you can sit in your offensive corner no worries about getting beaten by some German foreigner
I wish you could sit there in April or in June But April is too early and in June you swoon.
When Octember gets here we'll cancel the 4th quarter so, no Jason Terry juking you out of your athletic supporter we'd cancel it right now but right now you have to degrade a reporter
and we'll let you stand around while others play defense that way you won't be bothered if things get tense we will! if you'll wait till the month when it makes the most sense.
Octembers the best because in October you have too much rust And May won't do because in the playoffs you bust
What more do you want? Do you and your posse want more time to relax? less time on your feet and more on your backs? more time on the beach and less time in the gym? you'll get in Octember every whim
SO... Be sure to be here Be sure you're in town on Octember the First... ...when the rings get handed down
They don't get handed down much in March or November or even September... ...or in August, January, July or December.
But, EVERYTHING's YOURS... ...on the First of Octember!
(LeBron): On the First of Octember? Thank you, I'll remember.
***And LeBron walks away checking his iPad trying to figure out when Octember is so that all these promises can get handed to him like everything else has in his life.
Seems like everyone has Utah pegged for taking Brandon Knight at #3. That would probably leave us with a combination of Irving and Williams or Irving and Kanter ... and I would be estatic with either.

From what I have read I think that would be great if the Jazz were to pass on Kanter @ 3 for knight.
Irving and Knight would be silly imho.
Is Irving really head and shoulders a better PG prospect then Knight?
yeah, there is a small subset of people that believe Derrick Williams + Knight > Irving + #4 (where D.Williams and Kanter might be gone)
the only places I have seen it they are trying to 'play the draft' rather than just taking the best player. in my opinion, you take the best player and then worry about your next pick when it comes up. there are no guarantees that Knight will last to pick #4 if we take Derrick Williams (Minny will have an easier time trading the #2 pick if Irving is there), so we may end up without a PG-of-the-future anyway if we 'play the draft'
just take the BPA (Irving) and the BPA-nonPG at #4 (D.Will,Kanter, JonasV). we should be fine with that approach (and there are still some talk about us trading up to #2 and getting Irving+Derrick Williams)
Quote: I just asked, because I saw a mock (HoopsHype iiRC) they had us taking Williams @ #1 and Knight @ #4.
I'm guessing that their thinking is, that after Williams and Kanter, the next two best prospects are Knight and Walker ... both PGs. So the Cavs might use a little "fantasy sports" strategy, and pass up the "solid A" pick in (PG) Irving for the "A to A-" pick in (SF) Williams, and still be able to pick up a "solid B" guard at #4. Our worst case scenerio would be us taking Irving at #1, and Williams and Kanter going after that. That would leave us taking Kawhi Leonard or Jan Vesely a few slots too high.

Makes since. Is Williams game that much different then JJ Hicksons?
Quote: I also read that Gilbert is really high on Williams.
Mostly because it's a 2 to 3 player draft.
From everything I read, I would sort of rate them like this:
Irving (PG) - 85 - Best prospect, made for the position and some of the highest potential. Only question marks are durability and his athelticism compared to guys like Wall and Rose.
Williams (SF) - 83 - Might be the most NBA ready. He's sort of a tweener between PF and SF, but I can't really see him as a PF. Athleticism is his biggest concern if he plays SF ... although he can shoot the lights out.
Kanter (C) - 81 - Biggest mystery in the draft. Could end up be anything from Tim Duncan to Darko. He never played college ball so most opinions on him are based on his domination in the Nike Hoops Summit where he beat Dirk Nowitski's scoring record. I saw the highlights of that game, and he doesn't look terribly athletic, but he seemed to be very technically sound, has great basketball IQ, and a good shot.
Knight (PG) - 76 - Another guy that's a tweener. Doesn't really have the size for a SG and doesn't really have the handles to be a PG. People know more about him than Kanter though, so Utah might take him at 3, knowing what they've got.
Walker (PG) - 75 - Would probably be a top pick if he wasn't 6 foot tall (in heels). He looks a lot like Dwayane Wade, only a few inches shorter.
Kawhi Leonard, Jay Vesely, Jonas Valanciunas, everyone else - 71 and lower. It gets pretty weak around this point.
Quote: Makes since. Is Williams game that much different then JJ Hicksons?
Much different. Hickson has more post moves, while Williams can actually hit shots outside of 7 feet. I'd say they have about the same size and athleticism though.

williams better basketball IQ?
i love jj, but man, that dude is an idiot on the court. I hope one day he can get it, because you can see the talent with him.
This is what most people are basing their Kanter opinions on:
And he's been dominant at all international youth levels he's been in. Still, he's the biggest boom-bust potential of anyone. Not sure that kind of risk is worth the #1 pick.
The PTI guys were saying yesterday that we got our hearts unfairly crushed last year, the whole season we whined and booed (and deservedly so), and then we got to watch, along with the entire country, as lePuke gave us the biggest no-show choke in NBA Finals history. He's the villian of villians and EVERYBODY is mocking him.
Now that karma paid us back, probably more than we deserve, we should stop. I spent all day yesterday jumping into the pool of leFruad attacks and it was enjoyable. I'm done. I think we're even now.
I'm not going to root for the guy or anything......but I'm done.

“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
Sure, there's penetrating and scoring, but are you really happy with what you're seeing?
yeah, but in the end there wasn't all that much penetration, it was like watching the playboy channel. where it'd be porn, but they'd cut off all the penetration parts and all you see is the dude's face. so weak.
this pertains to the Cavs draft because if Rubio isn’t coming to the Twolves, they need a PG desperately (maybe they’d trade down to #4 when we are on the clock if Utah passes on Knight?)
or, they would be a team that could use Sessions as a stop-gap (though I wouldn’t think we’d get much more than a 2nd round pick for him)
