Is there a way (app/program/whatever) to upload a photo of something and then have it (the program) tell me what it is a picture of?

Here's an example of what I'm looking for: I have a photo of an aftermarket product, but I'm unable to find out who makes it using a simple Google images search. I have a picture of it, but nothing else. I need/want to find out who's making it.

Thanks for suggestions!

Thanks to you the fbi will probably be knocking at my door after the google search I just did...

But, I did find this, a site called tineye that may do what your looking for. Here is a short explanation.

web page

It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

There is an app for android and iPhones called goggles made by of course, Google. You can take a picture of an object and it will try to identify it. Here is a link explaining more about it.

Thanks guys!

Baddog, unless you're into the kitchen appliance industry, probably not something most would even recognize. But, I've attached the image anyway.

Looks like a dough-kneading attachment for a mixer.

Hobart is one of the big names in that industry, can't remember the name of the other one which is strange cause I almost married into the family.

That's almost certainly a mixer blade for a commercial mixer.

I used one similar to that when I was a cook as a kid. We'd make massive batches of pancake batter with a similar attachment.

I think it was a Hobart ... IIRC.

Nice guess Adam. I work for KitchenAid and it is not one of my products. It's aftermarket. My boss MAY have nailed it, in that it maybe a defective unit of an aftermarket replacement beater (like maybe it should have a spatula-like edge but does not)

Nelson~Hobart started the KitchenAid company which I now work for. Hobart is THE name in the commercial-size industry. KitchenAid has the market cornered on the home mixer.

I wasn't sure because of what looks like the dough hook on the side, plus nothing to judge size.

You work for KitchenAid, eh? I just discovered that they make an ice cream maker attachment for their stand mixers...

LOL! Too funny! I've tried both TinEye and Goggles. Neither could pinpoint what this piece is. Back to image searches for me!

For whatever it's worth ..... the ones I used as a kid didn't have a spatula edge. We'd have to use a rubber spatula and keep knocking the batter down by hand to be mixed.

Adam~I recommend Bed Bath and Beyond. They have those 20% coupons. If you don't get them mailed to your home, sign up for their email specials, I get those coupons emailed to me all the time! You'll get the best price that way. Normal retail at most every retailer ~ $80. Then take 20% off that.

Ytown~Same here man! I have the KitchenAid FlexEdge (because it's my job), but it seems so counter-intuitive.

Turns out, you were right Adam! It IS from a KitchenAid mixer, but one from back in the day (somewhere from 1946-1962) which is why I didn't recognize it as one of my products. Now I'm wondering how it ended up in a Bed Bath and Beyond store in California in 2011. LOL!

It's not the same as the image I posted, but it works for me. This image is a metal beater, original image is nylon coated.

Well you figured it out before I got to see the thread....It definitely had the Hobart/KitchenAid look and design to it...I mean everything to how it mounts to the blade design....everything....But I had NEVER seen that hook coming off of it...So glad you got your quandary addressed and your mystery solved.

I have to get a new kitchen aid mixer. I've had my current one for 18 years, and it's starting to wear out. I'd like to get something a little bigger and more versatile, mine is a "classic". Does Kitchen aid have anything that's over the "artisan" model?
