I like the Mavs pick there. Good value for #26.

I imagine we'll say otherwise, but I cannot believe that we didn't get stuck with Thompson after Toronto took Jonas V.
Of all the chatter I heard and read, the scare was that Detroit would end up taking him.
I think we like the kid (you don't take the risk if you don't), but I cannot imagine that what happened is anything other than fallout from trying to add the 19 pick.

j/c - so, looking to the 2nd round, what ya'll thinking will happen at 32. At this point I'm hoping Tyler Honeycutt or Malcom Lee is available. If all else fails, Kyle Singler, Chandler Parsons, or Keith Benson, though that may be high for Benson.

In all honesty, I'd look at Jeremy Tyler. Reach at the spot, of course ... but boom-bust potential ... likely bust ... but the potential for boom is enough.
And we need bigs badly.
He does seem like a complete moron, though...

Yeah, Minny had Chicago's pick at 28. Miami's has Minny's pick at 32.

I believe that was Miami's 1st rounder, which went to Toronto in the sign-and-trade for Bosh. Toronto traded it to Chicago, and Chicago dealt the pick to Minny.

I hate that. Everything I have read is that Norris is one of the real sleepers in this draft.

Never mind. They did flip it back. Miami basically traded for their own pick. I take back my congrats to Norris. Sorry, guy.

They just outlined the trade on ESPN.

Yeah. Very confusing. That was Miami's pick to begin with. Travelled to Toronto, Chicago, Minny and then back to Miami.

That's one well traveled pick.

Now that's a shocker.
Doesn't surprise me at all, I talked about Thompson in the other thread yesterday being our second pick. Ok, maybe it surprises me a little, I thought big V was more likely

I like Minnesota's (Miami's) pick there. He's a solid shooter.

Man, that was quick.
Cavaliers take Justin Harper. Hopefully he's a SF. I think they said that he's played in the Princeton offense.

j/c - how many PFs do we need? Jamison, Hickson, Varejao, Thomspon and now Harper.

For all the talk of trades that we heard about, it's certainly been quiet on that front. Usually I've talked myself into a draft pick by now, but I still don't get this one. We now have 2 starting PG's and 4 starting PFs.
Our system pretty much encourages having extra guards, but I don't really know what to make of the PF logjam. I'm assuming Jamison is gone at the deadline, but does this mean Hickson gets minutes at the 5? He's undersized but he actually played alright there last year in spot duty.

Can he play SF? I have read that he has the body and shooting ability to play the 3. He's also supposedly experienced in the Princeton offense.

Personally I'd have taken Honeycutt

Every site I've looked at (don't know much about him, so I need to depend on that) shows PF, though I did read he could/did play the 3. Is he athletic enough?

I'd say "underwhelming" would be a good way to describe this draft.

Well that draft was a bit of a kick in the sack ... Irving was pretty much a given, so I was hoping for only a few things ... 1) Kanter to hopefully fall to us and us to take him ... didn't happen, not the Cavs fault. 2) If he didn't fall to us, I didn't want them to panic, over-think themselves, or reach heavily on a position of need ... instead, we panicked, over-thought ourselves, and then heavily reached on a position we're well stocked at. ... then to top it off, we take another PF with our second pick.

I would suspect that we'll see a couple of guys traded ...... probably Sessions, as expected, and maybe Hickson and/or Varejao.
If we can get back some future picks .... it could be good.

Everyone has been saying this draft will be underwhelming for the past year. Why were you expecting it to magically not be? We got the best player in the draft, lets be happy for that at least.

Even Jim Paxson is smart enough to do that.

Other than Irving this draft was crap.
We are sitting on our azzes with the trade exception.
5 PFs and all of them are undersized.

Yeah, rumor is Brown wants to bring Varejao to the Lakers.
I'd rather see someone take on Jamison, but as an expiring contract he may be worth more on the team's payroll until the trade deadline.
