Well, in fairness, this was a draft that was all about PGs and PFs. There were few wings, and fewer Centers. There are a lot of high risk guys. Who knows? Hopefully it will be better than I expect.

Yeah, rumor is Brown wants to bring Varejao to the Lakers.

Unless it's for Bynum ... there goes our only somewhat viable center.

The good news is ... now we have enough bodies for "Free Power Forward Giveaway Night" at the Q.

I'm assuming the plan is to suck this coming season and grab one of the top wing players in next year's wing loaded draft. That's the only way any of tonight makes sense.

If the plan was to suck then we should've drafted Derrick Williams at #1, which guarantees us one of the three of Irving, Knight and Kanter. We take whichever of those three is the best option left at #4, win 25 or 30 games next year, and then draft a wing and/or point guard in the 2012 draft.

Not sure I'm a fan of Leslie - athletic freak sure, but couldn't make a 3 pointer if his life depended on it. Wouldn't be crushed, just not sure how big of a fan I am of him yet.

At this point, I'm hoping for Lighty, Deibler, or that Spanish kid (Xavi something). Same position.

I think that I am starting to see a bit of what they want to do .... and basically, it's swim with the current of this draft. PG/PF are the strength ..... so we now have 4 PG and 5 PF. Lots of assets, and lots of flexibility. Plus, what if there is no season next year? Then we lose one of our bigs in Jamison for nothing.

I also still think that we could have a pretty good team if we could pull off a trade for Iguadola. I know I've been beating the drum on this ...... but man ..... if we trade the exception plus maybe Jamison to the Sixers for him ...... now we have that really solid SG/SF type who can defend, rebound, and is a decent shooter.

iggy would put is in place to be in the 6-10seed range. that is a bad thing as in the nba you often get stuck there. for years.

the only thing i can think (barring trades) is we are planning on having baron and irving out there at the same time. then, we will just flesh out a bunch of young bigs and take the best ones to move forward with.

well, he didn't have a spot in the rotation. so, at least get something for him.

i'm guessing that was agreed to before the pick. makes a little sense now if we didn't like anyone there.

Yeah, if this is a "weak" draft, then turning 1 2nd round pick in a weak draft into 2 future picks in (presumably) stronger drafts seems to be a solid move.

*EDIT* Also, we already have a 1st and 2 2nds next year ... so we could have a 1st and 3 2nds now.

I think that's still OK.

In either of those years we have the option to take Mimi's 1st round pick, so we will have, our 1st and a lair of 2nds in each, plus Miami's pick in one of those years.

This almost reminds me of the Patriots. They keep adding and adding picks. Now we just have to get the winning going again.

LOL

Umm ..... another PF?

He may never play in the US though?

Seems like a really solid chance to take though. He's probably a much better player than anyone has a right to get at this point in the draft ..... if he ever plays for the Cavaliers.

J/C...

It never ceases to amaze me how some people always seem to act like they're the smartest person in the room. After reading through the comments in this thread and listening to some radio, the Highway Patrol may want to put some extra troopers on patrol over the 480 bridge tonight. I love "message board guy" and "radio call-in guy". lol

GO CAVS.

Man ... I feel bad for the deputy commissioner having to try and pronounce these guys' names. LOL The Euros at the top of the draft have been exposed enough that people can handle their names ..... but some of these guys are out od the stands behind left field.

I know nothing about him, but they described him as 'a bull in a china shop'. How can you not like this guy? He Peyton Hillis of the NBA!

And what bomb did David Lighty drop during his interviews? You can't tell me he's worse then these kids from the Congo.

I can not like the fact that he's signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv through 2015.

Well, I think that we are set up for some trades now. Obviously Sessions will be on the block, and Hickson could be as well. Both should bring quality in return.

We are loaded with draft picks in the next 4 or 5 drafts. We could have extra picks in each and every one of those drafts. Crazy. It's like we're following the Patriots method of running the draft. Take picks and turn them into more future picks. Seems to have worked well tonight.

I don't think that the moves the Cavaliers made tonight will bring them a championship. However, I think that they could bring in a couple of solid players who will help, especially down the road ..... while still allowing us to be in the bottom of the league for another year. Irving should be a star, and Thompson should develop into a Hickson type at the very least .... and a more willing Hickson at that. He seems likke the kind of kid who loves playing down low, fighting for every board, and living at the rim. He seems like a hard worker ..... so hopefully he'll even be an upgrade in time.

So far we have 3 picks in next year's draft, and that should be a loaded draft. We should find a big time star in that draft, to go with a pair of guys like Irving and Thompson. That should give us a nice, talented team, and a young, talented team. Plus, with all of the guys who stayed in school this year, 2nd round picks next year should have increased value.

I still suspect that we're going to make a few moves. It would not surprise me to see us make as many as 3 or 4 trades. I just wonder whether that will be before, or after the lockout. We may, or may not use the trade exception. It could wind up that not using it is the best answer. Who knows?

He is ...... but is he one of the best players in the league ...... or a decent type player .... who can do a few things well, but who will resist coaching, and who will turn into a Carlos Boozer type down the road.

I honestly don't know. It just seems like there is a ton of resistance to coaching ...... and that probably won't lead to a long term relationship with Scott. If there's no long term future, then maybe it's better to move him at th etop of the market, rather than allowing him to move on next year.

Overall ... this was a weak class. There's no way around that.

I don't expect the moon from Irving, but in this draft it made the most sense, I guess. Not a ringing endorsement, but I don't think anyone can shake their head even if he fades out.

Tristan Thompson reeks like a consolation prize to me. Not going to knock the kids until he plays ... just seems like if you wanted him, you could've dropped.

You never know ... maybe he winds up a nice defensive piece off the bench.

I kind of liked Harper. Not sad to see him go, and was perplexed at the run of 6'9 power forwards ... but he can shoot.

At least we didn't ship a pick for Jiri Welsch.

We're still a very bad basketball team.
