General discussion on the game. Releases next Tuesday.
I am really excited about the Coaching Carousel feature, which allows you to start out in Dynasty as a coordinator, and slowly work your way up to head coach at a school, then eventually try to claim your "dream job."
Also, if anyone finds any great deals, like the $60, with $20 gift card deals that Amazon and such run sometimes, please let people know.

Refs don't delete unless someone proves me wrong,
but I have heard a rumor that next week, Best Buy is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale and it would include new releases like NCAA 12.

Agree... it could have been change of buttons and feel ... but I didn't like the overall feel of it.

I thought the game felt a lot better, movements looked better, graphics better.
I have heard the graphics are better for the 360 but overall it looks and feels improved from last year on the PS3.

I agree, and the gameplay was good last year, and they made huge inprovements in some other areas of the game, so if they graphics aren't much different, I'm ok with that.

I rented NCAA 2011...mainly to get the draft class for Madden. And played with it for a bit. Really enjoyed the recruiting aspect and expected gameplay on par with Madden....which it didn;t seem to be- all the way down to the controls.
Is there a pre-set to have the same controls as used in Madden?

No preset to have the same control as Madden.

Here is the first deal I have found for NCAA 12. You pay $60 for the game, but you get $20 into your Amazon account once the game ships. Think you can get release day shipping for $1 too. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P8G...ASIN=B004P8GL60

Those deals are awesome with non-sports games IMO. Buy the game for essentially $40, play it for 3-4 weeks, beat it and then sell on eBay for $42. Ha ha ha...almost make money on the deal.
With sports games, the value tends to drop a little faster and I usually play the hell out of them for 6-10 months....so by then, it's almost time for the next version and your copy is then worth $10.
Thanks for finding the deal though....I might get it (need to try the demo first).

the one change with ncaa i'd like to see is the AI when you play road to glory and are dependent on your backs and receivers to do things.
the running back never hits the hole the right away, sometimes he even runs away from the hole.
other than that, ncaa has been such a great franchise the last decade. i love that you have 100+ teams, different playbook/strategies to pick from.
madden has had it's ups and downs but ncaa has always been so steady with putting out an incredible product.

The demo is pretty decent, but I would read up on the improvements too, or watch the videos within the demo. The gameplay is improved a lot, but so is the rest of the game itself.

Me and Bro will start a dynasty, both picking lower level teams, and either try to build that one up, or do good enough to get a better job...
So the whole O-Cord/D-Cord thing looks like it could enhance that...
I wonder if we can be Cordinators on the same team! *salavates*
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Idk guys ... I dont think I've missed getting a copy of this game for maybe 6 years now? but man ... it's been killing me.
Just my opinion but I thought the past 2 years have been absolutely HORRIBLE and an embarrassment to the video game - football world.
I don't like throwing the ball and having a d-end who is 10 yards in front of me (or linebacker) jump 15 feet in the air.
I don't like the "momentum" where a running back I had (who was the heisman) had 0 career fumbles, then fumbled 4 times in the conference championship game.
I don't like it how I didn't lose a guy for more than an "out for the game" in 3+ years at a school, then lost 2 players for the year and 3 more for at least 4 weeks all in the same game. 4 were starters ...
It's fun but it's just too unreal and i get sick of it being 95% of the time very good ... then 5% of the time I just say "Why am I playing this?"

I would think so, but I don't know. I thought about that too, but my brother and I play online, so it would make it difficult to be online at the same time until one of us got hired away to a different job.

You will always have that though. They don't set injuries and such, they happen. Sometimes it does seem like they happen all at once, but that happens in real life too. Last year, Michigan lost 3 startes from their secondary and were stuck starting freshmen.
Obviously the game is a matter of opinion, but I think NCAA does a great job of making the game interesting and different every year. Hard to do with a game that is inherently the "same" every year.

I've always enjoyed the NCAA brand more than the Madden brand. Probably because I like the "franchise" more the most, and with NCAA, it's much more fun to recruit every year with a school ranked in the #100's (*cough*Idaho), slowly work your way to better recruiting and building them up into a national powerhouse. Plus there is the constant turnover with your roster. With Madden, you just pick the highest rated draft picks and free agents, and you're in the playoffs.

Yeah, I have always liked NCAA more as well. And I like building teams up, and I also like recruiting.
I think that is what I like most about this years. I want to start as the OC at some tiny school, and get promoted to another no name school, and then slowly work my way up the ranks.
I also like how the coaches are going to move around to different and better teams. The MAC coaches that perform might get the job at Notre Dame, etc. I just hope it isn't over the top and there are 70 coaches who move every offseason.

It's not like Cincy is THAT much bigger than some MAC schools...

funny.
i was actually referring to the 70 coaches leaving though. for that much turnover, the smaller schools would have had to dominate the season (forcing the bigger schools to go and pillage in the offseason).

Right, I think the game developers would take that in to consideration, but I just hope the game isn't bugged to the point where coaches move schools every year. I hope it is truly people being promoted for production and fired for lack of production.

i might jump on it later in the week. it probably runs through saturday.
they also have a deal that you get a 100 GC if you preorder 5 games. that's a nice deal actually, because it's 300$ being spent, but itl'll be spread out.

Hearing that completed named roster with correction edits will be done by the end of the week. Can't wait! Probably going to try the RTG mode until then since you can't use named rosters there anyway.

What system are you looking for? There could be a set of names only ready for PS3 tonight or early tomorrow.

Actually there is a work around for this. You need to create your guy outside of the RTG mode and add him to a roster before starting the mode, then when you start you choose to use an existing player and pick your created guy.

Right, but you are already in college then and you set your own rating. I would rather do the high school season and both positions, etc. and get recruited.
And I have a PS3, and some may be done tonight, but it will be names only I'm sure. I am waiting for one that is edited with corrections and the like with Pryor gone, etc.

Correct, as I said in my post they are names only.
Are you following the guys over at OS or is it someone else working on the names?

Unfortunatly, I won't be getting NCAA this year, as I'll be getting the Peyton Hillis Cover Madden game ... and I can't justify buying two $60 football games in the same year.

Should have ordered NCAA for $60 on Amazon with $20 credit to your account, then used that towards Madden, so it would have only been $40.
Obviously not sure you would want to spend that either, but I always get NCAA, and then mix Madden in every now and then.

I almost always get NCAA too ... but this may be the last time in our lives that we see a Brown on the cover of Madden, so I'm getting that this year.

A huge thing that I have noticed that improves the gameplay is that CPU quarterbacks will scramble under pressure. I had a QB last night who was about to be sacked, but instead of just standing there as in past versions, he stepped up into the pocket, saw an opening, and scrambled for 12 yards.
Was great to see that they will actually do that now.
Zone coverage has been corrected as well, so people actually "pass" off receivers rather than just ignoring them entirely.

Just curious ... have they ever fixed the "receivers in stride" issue? Seems like whenever you throw a long ball the receiver would ALWAYS jump into the air to catch the ball and kill his momentum. You could have a guy open by 10 yards, and he'd jump up to catch the ball, letting the DB catch him and tackle him. Would be nice if he could just catch it in stride.

That issue is resolved slightly. The recievers don't always jump now, and they do slow down, but not nearly as much as they used to in the other games. It is possible to actually have a run after the catch TD rather than having to throw it into the endzone for it to be a TD.

Is the game out yet? I honestly haven't paid attention. I played the demo again and on my first pass it was intercepted by the nose tackle who was engaged by the center ... just don't know if I want to deal with a game that still doesn't understand trajectory ...
