Shocked because, after following the trial and examining all the evidence, you felt beyond a reasonable doubt that she did it?
Or, are you like me, and shocked that the media circus didn't doom her?

I'm not.
I've been lightly following it ... been saying for a few weeks now that she'd be acquitted of most charges.
I would've voted that way, as well.

I didn't think she would be found guilty. There never was a "smoking gun" that could 100% prove she did it.
I still think she did it though.

I don't know if she did it or not but if I had to bet, I'd say she did... and if I'm right, it sucks that she will be able to continue her partying lifestyle but someday, she will get hers...

You know, this is something that I've kind of been wondering (not about her pantsuit).
But, with all the media hype around this type of case (and other things Nancy Grace concentrates on), I was wondering if it was possible to get a fair trial anywhere.
Even in this case, what if jurors were biased against Anthony because of all the media speculation, but once the trial started, and the evidence just wasn't fitting, did the jury kind of "rebel" and vote to acquit?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that happened, or even that it's likely. Just throwing something out there.
I didn't follow this case at all because I just didn't care. At all. I have enough other stuff to worry about.
But I do care about justice, and I despise the way the media blows things up just to get ratings. I am very surprised she was acquitted, but I'm glad. But, only to the extent it shows that the media can't persuade too much.
If she did it, she'll get her comeuppance.

How long after you discovered your baby missing would it take for you to call the police and get the hunt started? 10 seconds?, 20 minutes? She took 30 days...
I can't tell you what she did, beyond being a lying worthless mom. But she's guilty of more than lying to the police and court..
You can take all the other rubbish and gamesmenship during the trial and throw it awa. bottom line, I believe she's guilty of murder...
Proving it was the only problem..

Being a bad parent isn't illegal. And it isn't murder.
Once again, I have NO opinion whether she did it or not. But, we shouldn't convict people of crimes just because we don't like them or how they act.
We should convict people because we can PROVE they committed the crime. Beyond a reasonable doubt. If the defense team can inject even a small amount of doubt into the case, then the person SHOULD be found not guilty.

In this case, it seemed to me less like the defense poked holes in the prosecution's case and more like the prosecution never really presented a case.
They kind of just said 'she did it'.

I think you're missing the point, Phil. She didn't immediately call that her child was missing. Therefore, she killed her. I mean, it isn't that big a leap, right?

ok, her child was missing. she didn't call authorities. instead, she went out partying. she avoids her familiy and deflects when they ask about her daughter. (all documented and accepted by defense)
finally, she calls authorities after 30 days. she lies to the authorities and leads them on wild goose chases thereby obstructing their progress on the case (also documented and accepted by defense)
no, they did not produce any evidence (hair or skin on the duct tape really is the only way they could have directly tied her directly to the murder without a specific eye witness or accomplise speaking out on the matter). yes, that means there was 'reasonable doubt' and left the jury little choice but to acquit.
however, I do agree with the prosecutions charge that 'common sense' shows that she had some part in the child's death. the problem for the prosecution is that they need real evidence and cannot just rely on common sense.

I agree 100%. I have no idea if she did it or not, and if she did, I'd gladly take her behind the woodshed.
All I'm saying is just what you're saying. Without real evidence (REAL evidence), you can't convict. At least I couldn't.

Drowned in the pool.. and somehow got duct tape wrapped around the face and dragged out to the woods.

I am thinking there was an accident, and rather than be up front she hid the body and went about her business.
Would not surprise me if the father was somehow involved in covering it up.

I understand that. But the fact that she didn't immediately call is the thing people are hanging their hats on, as if that somehow proves she murdered her child. is exactly right.

I thought the prosecution did as well as they possibly could with what they had. It was the investigative and forensic teams that didn't get the job done. I believe CA was involved in her daughters death, but given the facts presented.....there was no proof and a shaky motive.

You make it sound like she waited an hour or so... maybe even a day or so... she waited 31 days ....
So let's say she didn't do it... for 31 days she didn't know where her little girl was and she never sought help to find her.. when somebody asked where she was, she lied.. and the whole time, instead of looking for the girl, she was partying... so you can " " all you want.... is it a smoking gun that proves guilt? No.. but that is not the behavior of a "bad or immature parent", an immature parent leaves the baby with an unqualified teenager, an immature parent gives a toddler a Big Gulp of Mt. Dew at 9:30 at night while watching SAW II, an immature parent gets high with the toddler in the room... no, what this woman did is the classic behavior of a sociopath....

It isn't JUST because she didn't immediately call.
It was that she intentionally mislead police in the search for her missing daughter.
It was that she partied immediately after her daughter went missing.
It was that her cell phone was in the area of where the body was found soon after Caylee went missing.

I've read very little of the case, but wasn't the defense's, er .. "defense", that the child drowned accidently and she panicked and covered it up?

Yeah, that's the sad thing, is that she will end up making a lot of money off of this event in the long run.

Yes she probably will, but then whom should we blame? Her or those who would spend their money or their time to indulge on this tragic loss of a young child's life story.
I know that she was found not guilty by her peers, but I only wish that the Judge could rule on her stupidity and force her to have her tubes tied, so that another child could not suffer the same fate as Caylee did.

Casey should go buy a lottery ticket and she if she can win the cash version of the lottery she just one.
I think most people who followed this as much as it was presented to them on TV, thought she'd go down for the death of her daughter. The TV reporters already had her swinging from their ropes and when the jury came back after only 10 hours of deliberation I would have bet good money they'd find her guilty.
I thought they'd find her guilty, just not of murder one. Since they didn't even find her guilty of manslaughter, I have to assume it came down to the prosecution didn't do enough to prove the child was killed by her mother, regardless of how her death occurred.

In addition to what's said above, I think a lot may hinge on the personality of the jury foreman, the equivalent to the QB in the juror panel. If the foreman (or woman) feels there was no case to be made, the rest of the jury may have went along with what he or she said, esp. if the foreman had a type-A personality. No juror will be willing to be an outcast and argue against the leader of the jurors. Most of the time. That *may* be why it seemed incredulous that all those charges were dropped except for lying to police. That's still a felony though.
What will happen next: I think she'll contract with doubleday and write books and go on speaking tours, advocating for less-intense media coverage. Although she may initially struggle with employment, an entertainment marketing/PR firm may pick her up and she may write a book about what happened. Instant best-seller, she won't have to work, and she'll still be famous.
I personally think there's more to this story and have an "instinct" about her but that being said, as a former reporter, I have to look at it objectively. The O didn't step up. The defense did a good enough job--they played not to lose and won the game.

No it's not...Misdemeanors...
This chick's gonna walk Thursday morning based on "Time Served"...
2 things benefit her in this...
1) Jury from out of town and not privy to ALOT of info...
2) And most important...This "Dry Bone" thing...The amount of time it took to find the body made it impossible for the Prosecution...No time of death...No where...And no HOW......That right there is more than enough to put DOUBT in any jurors mind...Right or wrong...It's still justifiable DOUBT...

As someone else said, doesn't prove she's a murderer, which is what she was charged with.
I'm just saying that these facts that people on here are proposing don't show she murdered her daughter. Maybe she did. Maybe she had something to do with it. Maybe it's all just a big misunderstanding (though probably not).
But, the prosecution did not prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt (from what I understand), so she should have been acquitted.

Well in all honesty the media's portrayal of her as "most probably found guilty" sold better then if they had portrayed her as a victim of circumstance. No?
The system works only as well as the laws that it is bound by.

It's a shame she got away with it. Pretty sloppy for a perfect crime, but it ended up being just that. I don't blame the jury, there obviously wasn't a good piece of hard evidence to convict the monster. Shut up, Phil.
