The Seahawks are also rumored to be talking to Matty Leinart. A QB battle of Tavaris Jackson, Matty Leinart, and Chaz Whitehurst. It's a good time to be a Seahawk fan!

*tasting* hmmm, needs some Charlie Frye.

Not surprising that they wanted to keep him. Good for him.

But yeesh, what a price tag!

Vikings | Agree with 'Skins on terms of Donovan McNabb trade
Tue, 26 Jul 2011 15:24:23 -0700

The Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings have agreed on the parameters of a trade that would send QB Donovan McNabb to the Vikings. Working out the financial portion of restructuring McNabb's contract could be tricky, though.

FANTASY TIP: Where there is a will there is a way. Expect this deal to get done by the end of the week, and it makes sense for both parties. The Redskins are ready to wash their hands of the McNabb experiment, while the Vikes need a veteran passer to help teach Christian Ponder the ropes. The Vikings' receiving corps offers promise of fantasy success for McNabb if Sidney Rice returns. For now, consider McNabb a somewhat risky No. 2 with very mild potential for greater.

Then again .. Seattle is trying to improve the line, trying to compete .. they have a few receivers and if anyone can get Leinart on track - why not be the guy who helped him become a heisman?

I don't think he is what he was hyped to be at all. BUT ... he looked better than anyone else has in Arizona the last few years at the QB position not named Warner ... and warner was a superbowl winning QB who is a HOF player. It's a hard act to follow...

I know it probably wont happen< but I would love to see Matt Hassellbeck reunited with Holmgren. We would have to let Jake go.

For you fellow Buckeye fans. Larry Grant is going to be cut. He lost his job as a starter last year for the Rams.

We've had some pretty horrible drafts as well though.

Hopefully that's turned around now.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports the Redskins have agreed to send McNabb to Minnesota for a sixth-round pick in 2012 and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2013. Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel also reports that the two teams have reached an agreement, with the compensation being a late-round pick.

Defensive tackle Barry Cofield has been waiting to become a free agent for a long time.

He finally got his freedom on Tuesday, and found the right team interested in his services. Josina Anderson of FOX31 in Denver reports that Cofield and the Redskins have agreed to terms on a new contract.

I doubt that we're going to go big dollars on a DT. We have our starters in Rubin and Taylor. We might look for an inexpensive backup, but DT probably isn't a position we're going to spend starter dollars on. We do need depth there .... so I could see them signing a young guy who hadn't been a starter, but who could compete. (as all players should)

I can see us looking at DE, LB, S, and CB on defense. Starters would probably be a priority at DE and S. If the right LB came along at a reasonable price to compete for a starting job with Jackson, then that's another signing I could see taking a few more dollars.

Maybe so, but the Titans just drafted Jake Locker so they are interested in bringing in a vet with solid starting experience.

onfield results, maybe (if he can stay healthy). but, Tenn didn't give Seattle draft picks for 'the Hass' so they at least come up better on that angle.

and, as Peen mentioned, it bides them a half a season or so to groom Locker.

not to mention, Seattle now has Whitehurst, Leinart, and Tavaris at QB. I'd still take Hasselbeck over those options (though they may be positioning themselves for Luck - I mean, look at those starters)

And from what I remember, Hasselbeck has been mentoring Locker for the last 4 years - they already have a relationship. Very good move by Tenn.

I thnk this is a chance for McNabb to save his reputation as he leaves a broken team to one with a lot of weapons and good blocking and skill positions. Don't be too surprised he puts up banner numbers he is my dark horse #2 fantasy QB should the Vikes sign him.

He was an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. We don't run that defense anymore. He was a good special teams player, but those kinds of players are not hard to find. The person who will replace him will probably be one of the many undrafted free agents we have signed. In baseball they have a term for players like Trusnik, it's called "replacement level".

I don't like his list at all. There are too many old guys at the top. Now if you are simply looking for a stop gap to get you to the top. Okay then, but I would hope we do not go that route and I don't think we will either.
