I could see him in Chicago... He likes big city.. Too bad D. Rose will take all the attention away from him just like Lebron did while he was in Cleveland.

The Detroit Lions are aggressively pursuing free-agent LB Stephen Tulloch (Titans). A source notes the Lions are offering a signing bonus in the range of eight figures.

I know in previous years they ran similar systems. Holmgren's offense and Childress' offense. And now the Seahawks offensive coordinator is the Vikings former offensive coordinator (Darrell Bevell).

If the Dolphins get Kyle Orton, to go with Reggie Bush ... they could have the makings of a decent offense. Marshall would definitely be a good deep receiving option for Orton.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Reggie-Bush-New-Orleans-Saints-Miami-Dolphins-trade-072711

A surprising trade has popped up in this hectic NFL week. FOXSports.com has learned that the Saints and Dolphins have agreed to terms of a trade that would send former Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush to Miami. The deal is still contingent upon Bush’s agent Joel Segal working out a new contract with the Dolphins.

Bush is also still deciding whether he wants to take the deal. It is unclear what the Saints are receiving in return.

New Orleans had no intention of keeping Bush this season under the terms of his current contract — an $11.8 million base salary and a cap figure of $16 million.

If the trade goes through, the Saints part ways with coach Sean Payton’s first draft pick, an injury-plagued player who put up only 2,090 rushing yards since entering the league in 2006. Bush distinguished himself, however, as one of the NFL’s best receiving threats at running back in the past five seasons, catching 294 passes for 2,142 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His 7.3-yards-per-catch average in that span ranks first among running backs, while his 12 touchdown receptions rank second among running backs.

Here's the article for those that don't want to follow the link:

Sun is up, birds are chirping and Adam Schefter is hard at work as usual, reporting this morning that the Redskins have made their third trade of the week. This one, Redskins fans will be happy to know, sends disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to the New England Patriots for a 2013 fifth-round pick.

No, it's not exactly a haul they're getting in return. Not exactly the second coming of the Herschel Walker trade. And truth be told, I expected that Haynesworth might have more value than that, given the current proximity to a time when he was one of the more dominant players in the league. But Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, whose very public disputes with Haynesworth were a focal point of Shanahan's first season in Washington, clearly didn't want the guy around anymore. And as we've been saying here for weeks, he didn't want to just release him and let him go anywhere he wanted -- Philadelphia, for instance, where he could have reunited with his former defensive line coach from Tennessee and terrorized the Redskins twice a year in head-to-head matchups.

Can Haynesworth help the Patriots? Yes, I believe he can. They run a 3-4 defense, which was supposedly his problem in Washington. But Bill Belichick has a history of getting something out of malcontent players who wash out elsewhere. Randy Moss springs to mind, and all those records he set with Tom Brady in 2007. The Patriots will try to do a better job of selling Haynesworth on their defense and his potential role in it than Shahanan and Jim Haslett got a chance to in Washington.

For the Redskins, this is clearly about getting rid of a headache. A fifth-rounder in 2013 is pretty close to nothing in return for a guy they signed for $100 million (and who has already cashed almost all of that). But they'll save $5.4 million this year by releasing him and they won't have to answer any more questions about what he's doing in their locker room when all he does is bellyache and never play. Barry Cofield will be brought in as the much happier replacement, and the Redskins will move on with their rebuilding project. Shanahan and Haynesworth were a bad match from the start, and the ill-fated Haynesworth era in Washington is now over after two eventful but largely unproductive years.

He didn't want to play NT in Washington. NE has a Pro Bowl NT in Wilfork. I assume they will use him at DE, which would allow him more freedom than the NT position.

He will probably end up going to the Pro Bowl now and help their defense a ton. Seems to be the way things go for NE.

Wilfolk has played some DE for NE, so buy that are we supposed to surmise that so too will Haynesworth?

Color me a skeptic there. I think that the two are friends and Belichick usually gets the best out of his players, but I think this is a shot in the dark and perhaps Haynesworth's last chance.

well, we'll get to see if the problem was the players or the coaching

even with Reggie, they will need another 'true' RB still. they are being loud though (i assume all teams are being active right now, it's just some teams are being loud to the media to announce every little thing)

I really have to applaud Heckert for his patience. The insane deals just keep a coming, especially some of the ones we were showing interest in. I think we may bring in Shawn Andrews for a looksie if the price is right. Max Starks being cut also fits in with the type of OL Shurmur wants. Clabo is going to get as much if not more than Free.

Considering how he played with the Skins, I'd wait to anoint the Pats as "richer". He could very well bust out of the league by the end of the season.

I think this might be Bill waxing his ego a little too much. The "everything I touch turns to gold" theory. This will come back to bite him in the ass.

It is possible that Haynesworth plays like had has the last few years and completely flops. In that case, NE is out a 5th rounder in 2013, which by then they will probably have 8 1st round picks and 14 2nd rounders.

If Haynesworth plays like he did his last year in Tennesee, they have one of the best DL in football, and they put him next to another great in Wilfork. Their defensive line then becomes great and they put themselves in great position once again.

Glad to see him sweating a little.

Braylon Edwards, who saw the New York Jets agree to a five-year deal with teammate and fellow wideout Santonio Holmes on Wednesday, hinted that his time in New York might be up.

Edwards, who also was in the news Wednesday after receiving an additional year of probation from an Ohio judge, took to Twitter to express his disappointment that the Jets haven't made him a priority during this week's free-agency bonanza.

"I would love to be a Jet but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual with the management," Edwards wrote, then later removed the post.

"Will always love jets nation no matter what happens," he later tweeted.

The 28-year-old receiver posted 88 receptions and 11 touchdowns with the Jets over the past two seasons, but the team prioritized the signing of Holmes while publicly pursuing two high-profile free agents, wideout Randy Moss and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

Edwards congratulated Holmes over Twitter but later wrote, "Not the best of days so far...but I'm trying to stay positive!"

Edwards' day began in court, where Cleveland Municipal Judge Michelle Denise Earley, who could have sentenced the receiver to up to six months in jail, instead extended his Ohio probation and cautioned him to avoid situations that could land him back in court.

The NFL free agency cycle is in full effect, with teams and players agreeing to terms fast as training camps open. Get the latest on all the news right here.

"Do I get it? I do," Edwards said as family members watched from the public gallery.

Edwards, who formerly played for the Browns, didn't comment before leaving the courtroom through a side door.

Edwards was serving 18 months of probation after he pleaded no contest in January 2010 to a misdemeanor charge. He was accused of punching a friend of NBA star LeBron James outside a Cleveland nightclub.

It was during that probation that Edwards was charged with driving while intoxicated in Manhattan.

Edwards pleaded guilty Friday in New York to a misdemeanor DWI charge in a deal that calls for no jail time or probation if certain conditions are met.

Edwards' Cleveland attorney, Patrick D'Angelo, raised the issue in court of whether the receiver's probation had expired in early July and said later that might be a basis for an appeal. The judge said the violation already was pending during the probation period.

D'Angelo mentioned a litany of charitable activities involving Edwards and said people should say, "Thank you, brother, for a job well done."

But the judge expressed concern that Edwards had gotten into trouble during his probation and said there should be a penalty or probation wouldn't mean anything. She said Edwards should deal with his high profile by walking away from situations that can escalate and understand that "everybody can't love you and you can't have a problem with that."

Edwards said the drunken-driving arrest taught him to hire a driver if he would be out drinking. "I have a lot to lose," he said.

D'Angelo said Edwards could face an NFL suspension but said he hadn't contacted the league.

The judge also ordered Edwards to do 100 hours of community service.

Unlike his earlier inactive probation without regular reporting, the judge imposed active probation but said Edwards could contact the probation office by phone instead of going in person.

Redskins cut five, including Rabach and Kemoeatu
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 28, 2011, 11:29 AM EDT
Dallas Cowboys v Washington Redskins Getty Images

News about cuts have trickled out the last few days, but we expect a deluge of releases on Thursday when they can become official later this afternoon.

The Redskins are starting their day aggressively.

CSNWashington.com’s Ryan O’Halloran passes along word the following players have been cut: center Casey Rabach, defensive lineman Phillip Daniels, defensive lineman Maake Kemoetau, running back Chad Simpson, running back Andre Brown, wide receiver Roydell Williams and punter Sam Paulescu.

The Redskins signed Barry Cofield from the Giants, who will help replace Daniels and Kemoeatu. The team has no punters on the roster at the moment.

Rabach has started at center for the team for six years and it’s unclear who will replace him.

I would bring in Kemoeatu, would be a pretty good fit as occasional rotation and especially effective as a short yardage and goaline DT.

Your point about the fact that they have draft picks to spare is a valid point.

Haynesworth's game is penetration and that's why he did so well at DT in the Titans 43. I'm just skeptical of him playing in a block eater role NT or DE.

Not to mention the baggage he carries with him.

And not to mention, he only had ONE good year with the Titans. Outside of that year, he has either been hurt, stepping on a players head, suspended, out of shape, playing like a loaf, fighting with his head coach or is in trouble with the law.

I wouldn't pencil him into the Pro Bowl just yet.
