Too bad...now he'll be with a winning team. Of course, I doubt he pulls all the same drama with them.

Hmm ... I thought that the Bengals were not going to trade him.

I'm kinda stunned that the Pats went after him. He seems to be definitively on the downside of his career.

First thought that came to me was,, Mike Brown is a joke. He said he wouldn't trade Carson Palmer because Palmer made a commitment and he wasn't going to reward him for welching on the commitment (paraphrasing)

But he'll trade another big mouth like Ochocinco when he whines about wanted out.

The apple fell pretty damn far from the tree with him that's for sure.

I saw that they get 2 draft picks. I'm just wondering what rounds they are in and how much they slide based on performance.

Maybe the pats asked about him and he thought it was a good deal for the team, rather than acquiescing to some ultimatum for pennies on the dollar. Is hue never allowed to trade a player again? Everyone thought they would cut him anyways. I say good move.

At this point, trading Palmer would be the same thing.. any bets that brown trade him as well....

if they don't trade Palmer, He should show up to camp right around preseason game four. Force the bengals hand- because they would then be on the hook for his contract and that would blow up their salary cap.

An over the hill WR who'd just push our young WRs down the depth chart...

And a one year wonder DT whos shown a habit for not giving effort...

Yeah, i'd be sooo excited...

For them, they are fine I guess. I mean, what did they give up for Ocho? a couple of low picks in the future and a 5th for haynesworth,,

Belichick WILL control them, I wouldn't want them here.. under any circumstances..

Good news for us. Any time a division rival loses a quality player it's good for us.

Also, this probably means Asomugha to the Jets.

I actually had a feeling that the Texans would go after him... heard Mr. McNair talk the other day about being smart with his money and just had a feeling he'd rather get a couple of good corners rather the wrap all his money up in one guy...

they still need DB help and not having to break the bank will allow them to get a couple more...

if Asomugha goes to the Jets that's going to be a crazy secondary!

I would be interested in Barnett.

I wouldn't mind him having "competition".

The only thing I can think of is that if Jackson is playing in the middle, they have to be thinking about someone other than Gocong on the outside.

Yeah, Gocong is definitely not a 4-3 OLB.

The only problem with Jackson playing in the middle is he usually isn't playing due to torn muscles.

Looks like Wright signed with Detroit.

I have mixed feelings about it.

I think that most of us would.

He could be very good, and he could be really bad. I hate to potentially miss out on the good, but there's that nagging "What if he's just as bad this year" in the back of my head that just won't shut up.

His dad apparently posts on the Scout board. I think it's been verified it's him.

At any rate he said the Browns tried to resign him but alluded to issues with individuals within the organization.

It's possible Detroit just got a great fit and a helluva player if he can turn it around.

Kinda weird that Wright might be replacing Brandon McDonald for the Lions ........ or that the Lions might have our starting CBs from a few years back.

Former Cleveland Browns cornerback Eric Wright reportedly agrees to deal with Detroit Lions
Published: Friday, July 29, 2011, 3:55 AM Updated: Friday, July 29, 2011, 4:13 AM
By Plain Dealer staff and wire reports The Plain Dealer

Several websites, including Pro Football Talk on MSNBC.com, are reporting that former Browns cornerback Eric Wright has agreed to a contract with the Detroit Lions.

Wright says on his Twitter site that he is going to Detroit and it now shows a picture of him wearing a Lions hat.

"Let's get it goin Detroit! Lets flip the script!" Wright says on his Twitter account. Wright also thanks fans in Cleveland and the organization. "I have a lotta love and respect fa the city," Wright says on Twitter.

The NFL Network also is reporting the signing, according to the website Lions 101. Reports Lions 101:

Wright was, quite frankly, terrible last season for the Browns. He even got benched midway through the season after struggling early on. However, he fits the Lions' mold perfectly — a young, talented player who comes on the cheap and with something to prove. There's no doubting that Wright has a lot of ability, but he must show that 2010 was a total fluke. Detroit may have its starting cornerbacks now in Alphonso Smith and Wright, but the Lions will likely continue to try and re-sign Chris Houston, who played well for them last season after coming over from Houston. If Houston comes back and pushes Wright down to the No. 3 corner spot, the Lions would have to feel pretty comfortable with their depth. So, the big-name free-agent corners don't appear headed for Detroit, but GM Martin Mayhew's taking a shot on Wright, who could turn out to be a steal.

is this one of those times we could actually get something back like a compensatory pick?

Wish him luck. I think we can be stronger without him, but he was far from the only problem back there. I am excited about improvement we might have there.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. I would have been glad if we kept him, but I'm not overly upset that he's gone.

I'll be interested to see the kind of money he signed for.

At the end of the day, Wright needed to be replaced.. He was a liability b/c he can't tackle.

I specifically remember 4 things about this guy, and only 1 of them is good.

1) Bolden toasting Wright last season

2) Adrian Peterson stiff arm that got him posterized on SI, and added another highlight real of the Browns getting dissed.

3) Wright not going for the tackle against the Jets in overtime on Santonio Holmes. The dude just let him catch the ball expecting someone else to tackle him.

4) The good thing: 2 years ago when he had that pick 6 against the Giants on national tv.
