I absolutely love those Georgia uni's and helmet. They rock. Especially the helmet.

And LMAO at the last name comment!

James only has 36 yards through 3 quarters?

Is LSUs defense good or something...?

If Boise pulls this out, they have a clear path to the Nat Title game as long as no two AQ teams go Undefeated...

They might have a problem if an SEC team only has one loss...

But looking at their schedule, unless they fall flat one day, or TCU gets their crap together... it's pretty much set up for them this year, especially if Georgia is ANY good (assume Boise finishes them off)

I went to the OSU game yesterday with playoffmaker. Boy howdy, I think that was the hottest OSU game I've ever been to.

It was the Alumni game and my ticket had a pic of Eddie George in cap and gown holding his diploma. Very nice!

When I think about it, LSU is like the Baltimore Ravens of college football. They win because of their defense and running game. They don't usually get good QB play.

J/C...

Can this officially end the ND/Georgia talk around the country? Every friggin year I read that they have these tremendous recruiting classes - every friggin year they're hyped up and fall on their faces.

They are great but did you watch the game?? James was battling injury/cramps for a lot of the night...

I still think LSU wins but with a healthy James it would have been much closer... you wouldn't have had the freshman in as much which might have saved a fumble or two...

SEC west is STACKED this year! can't wait to see them start playing each other!

Lee won that QB job last night... I thought he looked really good... had some really good down the filed throws last night. I think LSU can be really good this year.

i still think ND finishes with a decent record, but they proved last night that the BCS talk was nothing but hilarity. that is not a top 25 program right now. that entire school/program/fanbase needs to dial down their ridiculous expectations. this isn't your old man's fighting irish. college football is different now. everyone is on tv nowadays, you don't have any special advantage.

i think notre dame can still put forth really good teams, but their days of being a year in year out program like ohio st/texas/etc are, probably done.

i didn't think usf did a ton of great things yesterday, they were opportunistic on the ridiculous mistakes that ND made. i don't think brian kelly has good enough talent on either of their lines to make a difference.

at least georgia has the excuse that they play in the best conference in the nation.

boise state proves that anyone can be great if they put forth the effort and time, and make the right moves. i think ND should look at them as the model to go forward, but that is a tough pill to swallow for a high and mighty program and fanbase.

before or after he gets dinged up?

been watching him for years now. he's a dynamite player, but he gets hurt too easy, he is not a good passer, and he's hyped up more than he should be (i've seen him as a Heisman sleeper which is silly) because his overall stats always look good because he really beats up on the bad teams.

oh, and against TCU last year:

16/28 for 164yds 1TD 0INT
14 rushes for 21yds

lost 45-10

I think he heard you

i apologize. now that was a performance.

It was good, but if they don't win he goes from hero to goat REALLY quickly with that late fumble...

I'll try to explain.

This is the result of Under Armour (Maryland) trying to outdo Nike (Oregon). Congrats Phil Knight, you can change Oregon's "O" to a neon pink ampersand and still win the uniform wars.

Absolutely love the unis, especially the shoes. Love the way the Terps are playing but they have to finish, it should be 24-7 right now.

You're on crack.

It looks like someone got confused, and combined a soccer uniform and a football uniform together, one on each side.

of course LeBron hates them, he's a South Beach guy. I mean he grew up there and all, so he's all Miami all the time and anyone opposing them is obviously wrong (+under armour vs. nike)

-----------------

anytime a team from Miami loses it's a good thing, so congrats. not the best representation for ACC football as it was a sloppy game (admittedly in the rain for a decent portion), but a wins a win and the Terps are undefeated.

worst thing from the game: Golden might realize that Morris is a better QB than Jacory. I want Jacory starting against the Bucks.

Yep. Somebody managed to out-ugly Nike. Amazing. Maybe they helped Maryland, however. They didn't play like the court jesters they appeared to be!

I realized at halftime why I like the uniforms so much. As I was watching the plays of the week from Saturday and realized that 95% of those teams had the exact same uniforms on that they wore 35 years ago when I was a kid. Penn State, USC, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame... I know that a big percentage of this board are purists who abhor change to something like the width of the stripe on the uniform sleeve because it somehow violates "tradition" but this is college, it's supposed to be fun... Maryland's uniforms were fun...

I thought the helmets were awesome. the jerseys could use some work. Looked like they had the idea for the helmets and couldn't really figure out how to make the jerseys complement them.

I like the 'turtle shell' design helmets that they will be rolling with later this year. I did not like last night's 2-face helmets though.

Each to their own. It's gotta play something crazy on the opponents eyes the first time they see them though, so anything that helps.

To each his own, obviously. However, the "tradition" you mention is part of what makes rooting for teams like Penn State, Michigan and Notre Dame so much fun. The uniforms, "bland" as they might be, are part of what gets fans of these teams pumped up.

Perhaps schools who resort to wearing clown suits for unis do so because they have no real tradition behind their programs to generate the kind of fanbase the big boys have.

Oh trust me, I get the concept of tradition and I get that Maryland doesn't have anywhere near the tradition that a lot of those schools have when it comes to football so I'm not really insulted by your comment... .....

I get that OSU and Michigan and Notre Dame and Alabama could have five 3-win seasons in a row and still put more people in the stands than Maryland could if they were competing for a conference championship. I get that.

I get that the Penn State uniforms are about the legacy of people like JoPa.. I get that the number on Alabama's helmet takes fans back to the legacy of the Bear... I get that Maryland doesn't have that kind of tradition or legacy, which is why I think it's great that they sort of went the other way and said, "Screw it, we're going to wear all sorts of crazy stuff." I think it's great that I have no idea what they are going to wear in week 2.

also, you should be excited if UA is going to pump the money into the program like Nike is pumping into Oregon.

for a program without the great tradition, one of the ways into relevancy is to have a beneficiary connected to the school. Maryland has found theirs (another reason for the Big10 to be heavily pursuing them).

It's all good DC. If Maryland continues to play well, the uniforms will only add to the fun.

Actually, I think there are more people around here that embrace what Nike (and now Under Armour) has been doing with NCAA uniforms in recent years than you think. IIRC, there was a discussion some time ago about Oregon's uniforms and it seemed like more people liked them than those that didn't.

I readily admit to being an ole' fuddy-duddy when it comes to sports uniforms and I shudder to thing what Nike will do to the Browns uniforms come next season (I think that's when Nike takes over the NFL contract). However, if the Browns have a winning record and start competing with (and even beating) the likes of the Ravens and Steelers, you won't hear a peep out of me. Turns out, I'm also kind of superstitious.

I just saw a picture of the new uniforms.

I went into it thinking; "There's no wat they can be as bad as people are making them out to be."

I was right. They're worse.

Wow .... those are horrific.

The best, and most appropriate comment was this; "The 1970's Astros called and said that they aren't wearing those ugly things."

It's basically a white uniform with a representation of the state flag across the shoulders and helmet. I still don't see what the big deal is.

Maryland, more so than most colleges, has long used the state flag as one of it's primary symbols. Probably for a couple reasons, one being that Maryland is the only "big" college in the state so they can sort of lay claim to the flag and secondly, because it's a very recognizable and unique flag...

I actually liked the Maryland uni's last night based off their flag, and I usually hate the new-look uniforms.
