File PhotoGreg Little is expected to report to Browns training camp on Friday.
BEREA -- The Browns have signed draft picks Jabaal Sheard and Greg Little, per Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.

Sheard, a defensive end from Pitt taken in the second round, received $5.09 million. Little, a wide receiver from North Carolina and also a second-round pick, signed for $3.32 million.

All draft picks after the first round receive four-year deals, according to the league's new collective bargaining agreement.

Now that those guys are signed, Taylor can't be too far behind.

Also saw on http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl that Houston is allowing Amobi Okeye to look for trades. For the right price, I would think about it. He has been a decent starter, has 4 years of NFL experience, and just turned 24. Could be very solid in our rotation of lineman.

Okoyea has been a big disappointment in Houston IMO.... I guess as a back up he'd be ok at a low price - but he has just looked slow and with no real ability to stop the run or get to he QB....of course overall the Texans defense was horrid last year so maybe with a new environment and a better coach who knOws... Still wOuldnt give up much

Well the Patriots got Albert Haynesworth for a 5th rounder. I wouldn't give up much more than that.

I like the Usama Young signing. He's someone I've had my eye on since the before the draft, when doing my mock off-seasons. He's young and has the versatility to play both CB and FS, with his better fit being at FS, IMO. He has good speed, and was just kind of caught behind some good players in NO. I am also a fan of having a FS who's strength is coverage, especially to pair with a hard-hitting SS like TJ Ward.

Overall, I think it's a good, smart move by the Browns. Sign a young, athletic guy with promise from a team with talent and see if he develops when given the opportunity. I haven't seen a contract, but it looks like a low risk, high reward signing.

Don't think young is going to be the starting FS. I think he'll be more of a Mike Adams replacement.

I don't know much about the guy, but from what I'm hearing (from people on this board) he sounds like a good fit.

I don't see Mike Adams being replaced. He's way too valuable as a 2 position guy who can play both well.

I just worry about a 186# FS.

I thought that Adams was still under contract. not that really matters all that much really.. Anyone can get cut at any time...

I'm not sure if he's going to start either, but I think he will be given a shot to earn it, and unless they add another safety, I think he will.

Adams was/is considered our starting FS by Jauron

Remember, we're going from Mangini's "Diesel"-D to Jauron's "Ewok"-D...fast, quick, gang-tackling...similar to what the Bucs and Colts run I guess

I still worry about a 186# FS ..... in the AFCN.

After watching D'Qwell Jackson's press conference I don't know if that is true. He said that Fujita and Gocong will on either side of him. And those guys are not Ewoks, Fujita goes 6'5" 250 and Gocong 6'2" 260.

(*Note* I hope Gocong is nothing more than a backup, there is no way he should see the field regularly in a 4-3 defense. I fully expect Maiava to be in his spot at some point this season. And yes, Maiava would qualify as an Ewok.)

Gocong and Fujita will start ... along with someone else.

I strongly doubt that Jackson will start at MLB. Jauron likes a big, strong MLB ...... almost close in size to the smaller DE. (250-260#) That's not Jackson. Jackson is not the powerful MLB that a Jauron defense needs.

Why? a FS is a coverage guy, hes basically a third corner, Usama is on the small side but he is a converted corner and extremely fast, if we were talking SS I would be a bit more concerned but I think his size will be fine.

Everything I have seen, he is listed at 6'0" and 200 lbs. Not too bad for a FS.

D'Qwell will be the starting WILL and Posluszney is only 238. A MIKE is the position of need.

Not for nothing.........but this just kills me. I'm 6' 2", 195, and I've stood and talked to both of these guys. I guess it proves to me that the published height and weight isn't the real deal. No way is Scott 250 and 6' 5", and gocong isn't 260. Unless both of them beefed up since last October.

I don't really either. Versatility is nice and Mike Adams is an okay backup CB/Safety. That he can do both and only takes one roster spot is sweet though. That's what Young also brings.

I dunno if Young is gonna be our FS next year, but it said in the article on OBR that we were negotiating with Elam as well. If we also sign Elam, that would work out great. Elam isn't that bad of a safety. I have a tough time believing that Usama Young is a better safety than Elam. He's better in coverage than Sean Jones was. For a guy that wanted to come back, I dunno why we just let Elam go without having some replacements. If we have to spend money, why not getting Elam who can backup/play both safety positions.

I imagine that we've made an offer and wonder if anyone will make a different one that he might like more.

It's good we're getting our rookies into camp on time. I imagine Taylor will be signed by tonight or tomorrow. This season Phil Taylor is expected to play well. I hope he does. I get nervous about him from reading his twitter stuff (i've decided to try twitter with the free agents and checked some guys profiles out), but we'll see. We're definitely counting on him to put in the work and pan out as a player.

I wonder who we'll get as a DE. We need another CB (eric wright?) and a DT and DE. I don't think we need a receiver, and we'll need to do something about the right side of our offensive line.

Depending on the price, I'd like to get Ray Edwards, but it's interesting watching these players get cut as teams try to make the cap. So I kind of like. not rushing into deals. I guess it would depend on if Ray Edwards likes us and how much he wants. I bet price wise we could do 5 years 40 million. 18 guaranteed. But he's probably looking for something more like 5 years 50 million 24 guaranteed. Or at least that's what would be being negotiated if we were negotiating with him.

Whatever the case, for our defense to do anything we need a pass rush. And I think Sheard is a weak side rusher. Edwards would naturally fit on the Left? DE spot.

We'll also need a real starting CB.

And i'm waiting to see Stewart Bradley show up from the Phili Eagles. On the right side we'll need some linemen, if only as depth. There's gotta be a RT outo there, didn't Max Starks just get cut? He, or Willie Colon, would fit great.

I have little faith in Tony Pashos. I want a real RT. We don't have to cut Pashos, just pick up another guy to be the starter. Lavuvo can play RG

Actually, a FS is not just a "3rd CB".

The Colts Bethea is 5'11" and 203. Rolle on the Giants is 6'0" and 208. Allen on the Eagles is 6'1" and 210. The Bears Chris Harris is 6'0" and 207. The Vikings Williams is 6'0"and 203.

That's a sampling of some 4-3s around the league.

I think we will go with Gocong at the Mike. I don't know how that will workout, but that's how I see it with DQ at the WIL and Fujita at the SAM.

I would be very happy to see Elam back this year. I think he would thrive in Jauron's defense. (and he had a goor 2nd half last year in Ryan's defense)

The Browns have informed D'Qwell Jackson that he will play middle linebacker in new DC Dick Jauron's defense.
Beat writers in Cleveland previously speculated Jackson would play the weak side, with Chris Gocong in the middle. It's now unclear where Gocong will play. Jackson is the IDP linebacker to target on the Browns. Gocong may either back up Jackson or compete with Kaluka Maiava for the weak-side linebacker job.

Elam simply sucks in coverage...I've seen too many plays where he covered air and showed no instincts whatsoever to want him back...he's a dime a dozen SS/FS tweener, there are tons of them out there on the market....maybe if he takes minimum and doesn't get a better deal elsewhere as 4th/5th S, that's it

Ugh.

I hate the idea of Jackson at MLB. I hate him at LB period .... but he's not a MLB in Jauron's defense.

I really, really hate the idea of Gocong at OLB.

I thought Elam started playing better as the season went along last year. But, I won't necessarily be upset if he leaves.

I think MLB in a 4-3 is Dqwells best position....that's where he played in College too and was 1 of the best in his class

Agree on Gocong...he was bad in the Eagles 43...he might have developed as a player since but still would be wise to not count on him as a starter...great opportunity for Maiava, who was a mis-fit in the 3-4 anyway..still don't know why of all teams Mangini had to draft him (Mangini praised his ST, so I guess he drafted a ST in the 4th) but he's stil here...and now with the switch, he gained probably the most value along with Dqwell

The Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with free-agent RB Brandon Jackson (Packers) on a two-year, $4.5 million deal.

Well, I guess my question to you is, what's so bad about this? Ok, we signed a guy that maybe you don't like, but what's the downside? We know Hillis and Hardesty are likely our 2 RBs. So why not bring him in?

At worst, we release him at the end of camp if he's not going to work out.

Great guy in space and on screen type stuff, but runs into his lineman too often/has lol vision.

Good in pass pro too

Well, and let's face it, we weren't going to be able to fill in every spot in one offseason, especially one as goofy as this one. We might have to struggle with these guys in spots for another season.
