They do need some major pitching help but I hope they don't give up too much to get it.

Well, what can be posted which could be a hint that something is brewing is that Drew Pomeranz was scratched from his start in Akron tonight. Not a good sign as I've been excited about this kid.

The rumored guys in the deal would be a horrible trade for us!

Yes, hoping rumors turn out to be false because we are getting MURDERED in it.
Reminds me a lot of us getting lee, sizemore, and phillips for colon.

If it's only one of them, I have no problem. Jiminez is only 27, has electric stuff, and has a winning record overall 54-45. Plus he's pitching in colorado, which is never easy.
Pitching is the name of the game, and if you have a jiminez, masterson 1-2 punch, you could beat anyone. I rather have this guy, than Pence. Good starting pitching is always harder to find than hitting.

Well Jimenez started. Looked like it was a done deal about 1/2 hour ago.

LOL, this is a train wreck for Colorado, bet they lose tonight. Jimenez is pitching but they already have someone warming up in the pen. Probably will keep guys warm just in case is my guess.

If they give up both, they better have this guy locked up for the long haul. I know he's signed til 2013, but to give up your top 2 guys, you have to have him for the next 5-7 years.

I would do that deal if, and only if, a strong right handed bat came along with Jiminez.

Don't really like the deal for the Indians. Giving up a top prospect for a very inconsistent pitcher? Seems like a desperate move.

I would even take seth smith. When we played them he had a very good series. He's a lefty but don't expect anybody better. Gonzo and Tulo aren't going anywhere.

CBS says that it's Matt McBride, Drew Pomeranz and Alex White in the deal. http://danny-knobler.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/8590096/31000402I would veto that in a heartbeat. Double veto. Man, that would be murder while your whole family watches.

It's definitely a lot to give up, but Jiminez is a legit 1, that has the ability to win 20 games in a year. If we make this trade our top 3 would be as good as anyone. Just have to get the hitting going.

Only problem with Jimenez is that he is a rich mans Carmona. When he's good, he's an ace. When he's not on, he can be bad. Granted he doesn't do year long spurts but rather steaks during the season.

Yeah while I wanted him, I'm glad the Reds didn't pay the high price for him.
I have him on a couple fantasy teams, and I have to say I'm very worried about him in the AL. I hope it works out for the Tribe.

What happened to getting better but not mortgaging the farm? We are getting rid of our top 2 pitching prospects for this guy??
I don't like it.

Done Deal Not sure what it says yet as it's slow loading for me. But on the Rockies homepage it had the caption that they agreed to a trade with the Indians.

He's not a bum, or even mediocore. Guy is a stud, who never had an era under 4 pitching until this year. Even this year, his era is around 3 on the road. HIs numberts are very impressive. Never had a year giving up more hits than innings pitched, and average a strikeout an inning.
I know he's had an off year, but everyone does. LOok at Justin Verlander. he went 11-17 a few years back. Get this guy out of Colorado, and this guy could be our Verlander.

Pomeranz - 6' 5" 230 lb 22 year old MONSTER!! #5 OVERALL Pick in 2010
18 starts between A+/AA: 91 IP 112 K's 38 BB's 1.98 ERA
White - 6' 3" 200 lb 22 year old MONSTER!!! 1st round 2009 (forget what number)
2010 - 25 Starts between AFL/AA: 150 IP 117 K's 46 BB's 2.48 ERA
2011 - 3 Starts for Cleveland before injury: 15 IP 13 K's 9 BB's 3.60 ERA
By this time next year, BOTH of these STUDS will be pitching as well as Jimenez.
HORRIBLE TRADE FOR CLEVELAND!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea anytime you trade for a guy that threw a no hitter, and won 19 games a season ago, it's a horrtible trade. Indians fans will never be happy. Same people here that are talking about how they can't stand prospects. Now everyone loves them.

Just looked at him a little closer. His slow start this year was actually due to injuries. And his horrific outing tonight is understandable considering the Rockies already had someone warming up before he even tossed the first pitch.
Still not a fan of the deal though so far. White is pretty solid and Pomeranz is most likely going to be a stud with how he's done so far in the system.

I'm not crazy about giving up those top prospects, but we got the best pitcher on the market. I just hope he stays past 13, because if he doesn't it's a risky trade. The indians must feel they could win the world series in the next couple of years. If Kipnis, and Chisenhall develop, we will have a very good shot. Barring injuries the indians starting pitching is going to be electric.

I wouldn't call it a horrible trade.
These guys right now are prospects and unproven. They don't always pan out.
The price was high and I probably wouldn't be that happy either if the Reds gave up their top 2 prospects for him. But I would forget quickly if it was the pre 2010 all star break version of Ubaldo that went 15-0 they got.

it just seems like we are giving up more for this guy than we got back when we dealt cy young award winner cliff lee
and maybe you can even make the same argument for the cc trade?
i mean jimenez is a nice pitcher, but one good year, he's 6-9 with a 4+ era (i know, coors field)
and just the other day, the phils get hunter pence for 2 A-level players and 2 to be named later.

Cc and Lee were rentals for the most part. We control Jiminez until the end of 2013, I believe. That's why we paid such a steep price.
